Our party of four had lunch on Sunday. There is a good selection of ales and lagers and a couple of us went for the Manchester Pale Ale, a good choice. The Sunday menu was a varied range of food with choice from about 8 starters, a similar number for mains and desserts. The food was lovely, filling and perfectly cooked. Lunch was to catch up with long standing friends who we hadn't seen for some time but we had a great catch up over a most enjoyable meal and never felt rushed. The Greyhound was easy to find and ample parking, a venue thst we will visit again.

Idyllic, well-established country pub in a beautiful setting. Nice decor. Staff friendly and attentive, great food and dog friendly, which was great for my sister's dog. Always a great restaurant for proper pub grub that's full of flavour and doesn't skimp on the quality. Part of a well established chain of Green King restaurants so a good choice of ale and wines, and this is why I say the above, for a chain it feels and gives a service like a quality independent restaurant would. Quiet for a late sunny Saturday afternoon but the staff were very friendly and attentive as more people began to enter. A great restaurant well worth driving out of town for.

Revisited to take part in their fortnightly pub quiz. The night was good, came last in the quiz, but it was very hard, HONESTLY! Was celebrating that my op to remove cancer was 100% successful. 🎉. Back to a normal life but with a stoma, but is a good talking point to introduce myself to people! Perfect, not often you get to say that but honestly I couldn't suggest a single thing which could have been better. We were welcomed on arrival and shown to a table (no booking, just a walk in). All the staff were friendly, helpful and knew their pub. I had steak and ale pie, served with gravy, garden peas and chunky chips - everything on the plate was perfect, a proper slice of pie full of tender braised steak, crisp chips and even the peas were cooked to perfection. There was a choice of Manchester beers (I'm sure there was other stuff too but I didn't look!) and the puddings were delicious. Friends had blackened Cajun chicken burger, butternut squash tortellini and "Legendary"cheese and onion pie - they all felt the same way about the quality and standard of the food. The atmosphere, early afternoon Saturday, was ideal, friendly not too quiet but not loud, and of course, all the staff were - perfect. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Have been going to the greyhound for years booked for my sons 40th a month on 5/5/24 in advance . We never sit in the bar area alway restaurant. I no you cannot guarantee a specific table . However it should have been taken into account where we usually sit (restaurant) . We were sat in an alcove opposite the toilet (my pet hate) so we moved to empty alcove behind . We were then told to move back as table was book for 20mins was disappointing we moved we had been there hour /half no one came to said table !! They eventually came as we were leaving. It was a total disaster from start to finish & ruined my sons birthday . They did however come out with a candle I his paid for dessert . I was made to feel uncomfortable whats happened to loyalty .....

We came in on Sunday in the hope of a table, as based on the car park this place is very popular! We were greeted by Michael and he made every effort to accommodate us and our dog. He apologised that a table wasn't available immediately but if we had a quick drink he'd show us over as soon as one became free. He was very busy but made time for us, chatted with my children (and even found some meat for dog). True to his word, he showed us over to a table quickly, the food did not disappoint, and the busy car park proves how good the sunday lunch is! We had the sharer (which is gigantic), with unlimited yorkshire puddings and gravy and my children had fish and chicken. They even got free icecreams as part of their meals. I recommend this place to anyone thinking about a nice, friendly sunday meal with a great atmosphere. 5*

Booked for 4 for Sunday for 2.30 lunch, usually go for the roast but chose badly this time. I had mackerel pate which was good, friend had burratta which was covered in ok much sea salt too so couldn’t eat it. We did ask to take it off the bill which they did. Husband had the Stilton mushrooms, too oily and still quite hard and not warm. Mains was a beef noodle salad, usual boring salad with egg noodles and lots of sweet chill sauce and some very thick beef in thin batter. Not many flavours going in here. Husband had the cheese pie which comes rather dried up looking with a choice of gravy or cheese sauce to cover the unappetising slice of pie. Our friends both had small fish and chips, fish was ok, mushy peas certainly wouldn’t have been recognisable as pea green with the very unappetising colour they arrived in. However, the desserts did make up for some of the meal. The raspberry artic slice, the apple toffee crunch waffle were gorgeous, the sticky toffee pudding, sauce was dab the sponge no flavour. All in all service from the waitresses and waiter very good, pleasant surroundings but the food is quite poor. Won’t be rushing back soon unfortunately.

I have just sat and watched all three members of the bar team, ignore, then laugh at and mock a lovely couple who have travelled especially to the area who clearly had learning differences. The couple attempted to make conversation with the team who stayed on their phones not making eye contact then laughing between themselves at the couple. Absolutely terrible behaviour and will be speaking to the general manager to express how sad this was to see first hand. Beyond disappointed and would not return. Will be expressing this experience within the community.

It certainly didn’t disappoint. Our son had an amazing GF fish and chips followed by the best warm chocolate brownie & raspberry ripple ice cream. There were lots of other options available too. It’s the most comfortable my son and I have felt in a pub setting and to top it off the real fires were burning and it was a perfect setting for Christmas. Thank you all so much x

I have eaten here a few times before and have also recommended it to others. Last week myself and three friends had a lovely meal, however, we were sat quite near to a log burner and during the evening a member of staff topped it up causing quite a lot of smoke which they then wafted into the room. When we left our clothes and hair were completely covered in smoke fumes. We were able to wash our clothes and hair but our coats had to be cleaned. I emailed to say this, twice, but have not had any response or an apology which I think is appalling. I will not go back now until the summer!

Some of the worst service i have ever experienced, extremely slow, long wait times the entire time, multiple different service staff instead of just the same one, asked for two small wines but instead they brought over two large wines, we had steaks but it was served without steak knives, for an 8oz sirloin steak and 4 cherry tomatoes it cost £36, £4 for a tiny sauce and £5 for a bowl of chips. Anytime we actually wanted something we had to flag someone down to take our order, just generally poor service. We got billed for the two large wines even though we got small ones eventually, also they added a gratuity which is absolutely hilarious, asked them to take it off. The couple next to us actually got up and left because the main took over an hour to arrive for them, i also witnessed the staff telling to fully comp two entire tables because of delays, and someone else also didnt pay for a starter because he said it was terrible. This was on a Tuesday evening, not even that busy. 100% never returning to this place.

Called in for a drink on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Despite the place being full, both outside and in, we were served quickly and managed to find seats in a cosy snug with a wood fire burning. We were only here for drinks on this occasion, but all the food we saw looked fabulous and the sounds of appreciation we heard suggested it tasted as good too. The staff were friendly, approachable and calm - despite being rushed off their feet. Lovely pub, great atmosphere, ace staff. Will definitely come back to sample the food - but will definitely book first!
