The second time we have visited the recently " Drum " and come away disappointed . The first , two weeks ago we arrived at lunchtime on a Friday to see a small A4 note on the door saying closing at 2.30 for private function . We went in as only 1pm and asked for a table for 2 and were told " no food today as we're prepping for private function " ( when looked at note again it did say no food ) No prior warning by any other media . This Thursday we went again and asked to order off the Golden Years seniors menu " No we're not doing that any more " . I've checked the website again this morning 3 days later it is still advertised as being available. We ate off the main menu and the food was very mediocre anyway so perhaps no loss after all !!

Lovely pub great food and friendly staff

Food was awful, chicken in pasta was tasteless( froozen), burgers were very average(buns not toasted, fries cold), not the best experience, I will not recommend eating here but the atmosphere was good.

A perfect gold nugget of a pub hidden well away but well worth finding

Amazing improvement over the old place, new management have really make it feel warm and inviting, service was excellent and loads of great seats inside and out - great bar scene. Outdoor area also massively improved- great job

A lovely pub with a huge beer garden, decent sized car park and a canopied outdoor terrace to shelter from the sun. The Sunday lunch was good and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful place ro eat and drink

Such a nice place to visit now Ann has taken over. Food delicious and home made and a brilliant atmosphere. Staff are all lovely it's a great local place to spend the evening.

Very busy, and little full of families with kids. But plenty of space to still enjoy outside in the new garden.

Nice food, nice atmosphere, the new pizza bar was lovely. We had a mix of starters and chips and I tried one of the new pizzas which was very tasty

We went on a Sunday the 28th of January for Sunday lunch. It was one of the nicest dinners I’ve had for a long time! We had 3 mixed meats and 1 turkey with stuffing&pigs in blankets, it was fantastic. The meat was the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Definitely value for money. The staff are so friendly and helpful and asked us 3 times if we were enjoying our meal and you don’t get that anywhere else, so a massive thank you to Ann & The Team. From the Glynns, we will be back, we really enjoyed it!☺️

We arranged a family Christmas lunch for four generations from 6 to 94, (plus Winston the Labrador), from Oxfordshire, Cheshire and Scotland to meet. I cannot thank the excellent staff enough for help making this perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Not just good service but real care and attention. Thank you everyone.

Visited the pub for the second time. The first we had a rude member of staff the second time was even worse and we walked out. They say they have a friendly atmosphere on the board as you walk in but clearly there are some members of staff that don't live up to this. There are others that do but on two occasions we have had bad eggs. We won't be giving this place our money ever again and can't recommend it. My first bad review I've ever left on Google reviews

This is a great pub set in the back streets of Alderley Edge. In summertime, there is plenty of outside dining, while in winter, the spacious areas are comfortable and relaxed. Log burners make a lovely attraction on a cold day after a dog walk on the Edge. This pub is dog friendly, which makes it a favourite for me. The menu has a really good selection of various dishes which have always been very well cooked when I've dined. A nice selection beers behind the bar and very friendly staff make this a pub I would recommend.

Had a works Christmas meal here and the food and service was excellent- very reasonably priced as well - lovely traditional pub atmosphere- can highly recommend.

A large group of ladies had the two course Christmas menu. Fabulous service and wonderful food. The food was beautifully presented. Well done. The only negative was that the room could have been warmer.

Amazing night for a huge group booking. We were a table of 29 and brilliantly looked after by Ann and the team. Food was wonderful and so was the service.

If I could give 0 stars I would. To start with: -very unfriendly staff - made us feel like an inconvenience the whole time we were there, they spent most of the time staring at us whilst sat at the end of the bar. -we booked a table for my friends birthday and overheard the chef moaning about up being in at 7:30pm for food. - The food…. AVOID The steak and ale pie was slop served with gravy. Don’t get me started on the fish. - The fish: seemed to me like it was still frozen. Absolutely rock hard and knocked me ill! See photo below. To compensate for this they gave us 25% off the price of the fish which is absolutely ridiculous for fish that is rock hard it should’ve been taken off the bill. - we had nobody ask us how our food was or offered any drinks. - Food and service over all was disgraceful and I will avoid at all costs.

What a perfectly good place friendly good food and served pretty ordered before by 2 hours. Sat down at 1305 and food arrive 1340 Well presented by attentative staff and perfect welcome by Ann, licensee. Well done will call again soon.

Had lunch here today , there is a fabulous new menu which was delicious and the new landlady Anne couldn’t have been nicer ! She recommended the delicious Malbec wine and one of our party had the golden oldies menu which was fantastic value and no scrimping on portion sizes! Will definitely be going back ! I visited as part of a walking group of 20 people. Nothing was to much for the lovely manager and staff . We were made to feel very we lcome and all the food served looked great and tasted delicious . It was amazing how we were all served virtually at the same time . Well done ! I

Come in and ask for me you can have a Sunday lunch and you and Mrs just pay for drinks! Sound 7 weeks later text and ring to drop in yeah no probs!! Sweet see you in 40mins. Hi its Adam got told to ask for nick ohhhh yeah please come in let's seat you and order drinks and we will send Nick out. Bull5hit never ever came out. Ordered mains and tbf the cheese ND onion pie and chips was decent but my Mrs chicken in mushroom sauce was dryer than Nick The Greeks flip flop. How was the food!?! Bcos we thought it was free we said zip. Yeah was lovely. Bill Please! No discount no nick and two p!ssed off customers that won't eat there again. Average at above average prices.

Personally for me if you are only going to offer a roast on a Sunday it has to be memorable. Mine was but unfortunately for the wrong reasons. Firstly bar the potatoes mine came with no vegetables not a problem my family shared, I wish they hadn’t if I had wanted to take up darts I could of used the carrots this was followed by soggy, cold roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings that were like cardboard.

Six months ago the "drum" seemed to have lost its way but with the new team in charge it is back with a bang. Great food, friendly staff and a very pleasant atmosphere. I have a local again.

Lovely pub...attentive service Only had a sandwich...was nice but bread was a bit doughy... Pudding was fab....just could have been hotter..... Overall would be happy to come again

Booked a table for myself & my dad Sunday 17th Sept. We chose the pork, absolutely delicious, portions were generous although we did get a side order or roast potatoes as they were amazing . The service was definitely the best I’ve ever experienced in a pub as the girls were super friendly, I’ve got an egg allergy & they were great in making sure all my meal was safe etc, literally the only thing criticism I would make is please can there be a vegan option for desserts, I’m not vegan but just severely allergic to eggs & my absolute favourite dessert is a Panna cotta. Fantastic value for money, 2 roasts, 1 beer, 2 glasses of wine & a dessert £56, would highly recommended here, fabulous beer garden too .

I don’t normally post many reviews. However… recently taken over and Callum The chef is back along with the kitchen staff. Excellent Sunday roast- we had sharing platter well worth trying. 😊 wish the new owner the best of luck.

Arrived at 4.30pm, unable to order food until 5pm, no problem, at 5pm tried to order to be told it might be 5.30 as he’s not down yet, but could be later? Assuming from upstairs! Tried again at 5.35pm, asked is he down yet, replied no!!! No explanation!!! Time to move on after being there an hour waiting, I mean is he coming down EVER! Or should I keep trying all night? Left went to Hickory’s smokehouse for a good vibe and good quick service.

Great pub, lovely on the inside aswell as out. Food was really good. I had the pate and some of the new York fries. Really tasty food and presented well. Staff were especially helpful. In particular Mia on the bar. Catered to all our needs and was lovely to talk to. Would definitely recommend here to friends and family

Great food and service, very friendly, not too busy

We popped in to lunch on a rainy bank holiday with three small dogs. The staff were very friendly to ia and the dogs. We had an excellent lunch that we all thoroughly enjoyed.

A good welcome and good Sunday lunch

I like this place. Decent beer, large beer garden, good pub food. Room available for functions/ groups. Dog friendly. Have held several running club and family events here, always well looked after. One of only 2 pubs in Alderley Edge village(this and the de Trafford Arms), the Drum is all the better for being off the main Street
