Delicious food and amazing service. We arrived Friday evening without a booking but we were happily shown a table. The female server could not have done more for us. She talked us through the menu, offered her advice and was an absolute delight. Unfortunately she finished her shift before we finished so I wanted to write this and hope she gets the message. We had curry of the day, gammon, chocolate cake and apple crumble. It was delicious! Thank you to the team for a fabulous meal!

We popped in after a lovely walk around the area for just a quick bite to eat. Welcoming staff who showed us to the bar area as we have dog. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area, which I've nothing against. Lovely open fire, too. We ordered 2 x baked potatoes with chilli. Initially, I thought £11 each was a bit steep but gave the benefit of the doubt! However, much to my disappointment outcome, a small baked, sorry, microwaved, potato in a pudding/ soup dish with approx a tablespoon of chilli, this was quite tasty but come on £11...really!!!!!

Nice pub and restaurant busy with dog walkers. Some appeared to think it was OK to let thier little darlings sit on the furniture after a muddy walk and others bringing obviously aggressive dogs into a bar to bark at others - not much the management can do if folk have no common sense. Serving staff were all nice and fairly professional , big let down was the food. We had steak and kidney pudding which had very little steak and venison casserole in which the dumplings were way under cooked, raw flour in the middle, the accompanying spiced red cabbage was just red cabbage under cooked in vinigar, terrible! Prices not the cheapest, I don't like leaving negative reviews but hate being ripped off. Will try one of the surrounding pubs next time.

I’ve been go in to The Swan with Two Nicks for about 15 years. The food has always been excellent until this Sunday the 3rd November2024 for 12.00 lunch. A very rude member of staff just said your in the corner table for 5, didn’t even bother to escort us properly to the table. 35 mins later the food arrives very poor quality processed food, the portions were absolutely rubbish, any way the bill was £180.00 and this is the last time we will ever eat in this place. What’s wrong with the management!!

Popped in here after a walk around Dunham Massey, it was early evening and there was a nice vibe inside with the fire roaring and a few people at the bar and sat in the lounge. We had some nice drinks; the Dunham Massey Top Tree was most enjoyable and went well with the Fish and Chips and Burger. Both meals were the normal "pub fare", however, they were fresh, wholesome and enjoyable. Great service from the bar staff.

Called in for a drink on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Despite the place being full, both outside and in, we were served quickly and managed to find seats in a cosy snug with a wood fire burning. We were only here for drinks on this occasion, but all the food we saw looked fabulous and the sounds of appreciation we heard suggested it tasted as good too. The staff were friendly, approachable and calm - despite being rushed off their feet. Lovely pub, great atmosphere, ace staff. Will definitely come back to sample the food - but will definitely book first!

Decided to try and book a table for four on the spur of the moment, we were dealt with very efficiently on the phone, and we arrived shortly after. Drinks arrived straight away, and I must mention the quality of the Timothy Taylors, absolutely superb pint. We ordered a variety of mains, steak and ale pie, fish and chips cheese leek and onion pie, and the smoked haddock. All four of us devoured the generous portions, and none of us could find any fault. The obviously homemade chips were especially delicious. None of could resist a desert, apple crumble spotted dick and bread and butter pudding followed and were also beautiful. We enjoyed the excellent service from start to finish. We enjoyed ourselves so much we got locked in dunham massey car park and had to get an uber home!

My friend and I planned to have lunch at this pub today. We decided to leave after witnessing a member of staff's total lack of empathy for a disabled driver (with blue badge). We had to watch whilst the driver was told in no uncertain terms that she couldn't park there as it was the Manager's spot. Not withstanding the fact that unless the Manager has a stretch limousine, there was in fact, room for 2 cars, the elderly lady then had to struggle a further distance with the aid of a walking stick. My understanding is that there is a legal obligation to provide a percentage of clearly labelled disabled parking bays. These were not evident. Unlawful discrimination? at the end of the day, just an example of total disregard and insensitivity. Shameful.

A great dog-friendly country pub tucked down the end of a lane near to Dunham Massey. Plenty of seating inside and out. Lovely local beer selection and good traditional atmosphere. Ate on a July Saturday as table of five, eating mains and puddings. Every main was absolutely fantastic! I ate the chicken, leek and bacon in creamy white wine sauce. This really was delicious! The kids had the chicken and chorizo pasta, with the kitchen making a smaller portion for my youngest, which was good. This was fantastic again - the sauce was really tasty with plenty of meat too. For dessert it was, unfortunately, a little underwhelming after the 5* mains. I ordered the Belgium waffle. While the Cheshire ice cream was great and very generous in portion, the waffle was poor - I suspect one of those generic packet/frozen ones that are all too common sadly. My eldest had chocolate cake, which looked lovely and rich and youngest had ice cream. The staff were really lovely up to and during the meal but, after the bill came, we were left hanging around for quite a while trying to pay. Definitely will return as the main dishes were amazing and want to try some of the other menu choices.

A lovely watering hole when on a walk esp when the pub is quiet. Timothy Taylors Landlord beer beautifully kept and served, staff friendly, food lovely though my daughters prawns Marie Rose was rather lacking in dressing. The submarine rolls were perhaps a bit dull and crumbly, but my fish goujons with tartare sauce were delicious. Food and beer sermed a little dear, but maybe I'm out of touch. Location is lovely, right by Dunham Massey.

I nice old-fashioned pub in a quiet place. They tend to get the older generation visiting as far as we have seen. The car park now has an i pad that you have to enter your car registration plate into as you enter. Otherwise you could get a parking ticket. We do not like this. A lot of car parks are adopting this approach these days. I must say that it put us off going to the places that do this.

We have eaten here on many occasions but not been for a couple of years. I'm sad to say we were disappointed. One of our group had Sunday roast, some veg was cool and some hard and possibly frozen Yorkshire pud which he couldn't eat. Meat was bland and of poor quality.Wish I'd taken a pic of the Aberdeen Angus burger, which wasn't cheap, but not worth the money. I had my fave cheese pie which sadly was bland and weirdly wobbly like it had gelatin in it, it was just warm with a few chips and just warm beans. Only saving grace was dessert. Prices have increased, which I guess is expected in the current climate, but portion sizes have reduced. The pub seems to have lost some of its warm charm, I can't put my finger on it. Sorry

After enjoying a delightful stroll in the local area, we arrived at the establishment. Despite not having made a reservation, we managed to secure a table. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance to guarantee availability. For my meal, I opted for the chicken dish which was incredibly flavorful, accompanied by leeks and veggies. Meanwhile, my partner decided to have a light snack and ordered the Nachos starter. The portion size was quite generous, as evident from the picture, and could easily serve as a main course. It offered excellent value for money. Overall, the food was delicious, and the service provided by the staff members was exceptionally friendly, efficient, and pleasant. The Bells of Peover isn’t just a pub—it’s a place full of history and character. During WWII, it was used by the British Army to discuss strategy against the Germans, and you can still feel that sense of history in its walls. But beyond its past, this place truly shines when it comes to food and atmosphere. From start to finish, the food was simply outstanding. The lamb was the star of the show perfectly cooked and packed with flavour while the soup was rich and full of depth. The fish cake? Absolutely sensational. Every dish felt like fine dining, executed with real care and attention to detail. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and full of good vibes, making it the kind of place where you can unwind and enjoy great food in great company. Whether you’re visiting for the history, the setting, or the food, The Bells of Peover delivers on every level. Highly recommended!

The pla e looks and feels lovely and the food tadted really good. The problem was service. After waiting for 20 mins to place just a drink order, it wasn't great. We then waited over half an hour after our mains were cleared to try and order dessert. We eventually gave up, took a long time to track someone down just to pay. There were empty tables so not exactly busy. The gluten free options were really limited, I was told it was always this way on Sunday, goodness knows why. The one started I could have had run out so we didn't have starters. All in all, it was a big let down which is a shame because when we did get food, it was lovely. Just a shame it took nearly over 90 mins for one course.
