We pre-booked a table in conjunction with staying a couple of nights at The Bosk in their B&B accommodation (which is very good and subject to a separate listing on TA). The restaurant is not always open so best to check ahead rather than turn up in anticipation and be disappointed - they hold private functions for example. It’s in a rural setting and their car park is at the opposite end of the village to the school. The restaurant has 3 bedrooms above and the owners also operate 12 self catering cottages in the village and 3 glamping pods nearby so they have prospective diners on their doorstep. This is a very contemporary looking building set in a pleasant garden and although it’s upmarket in style it’s a fairly casual dining experience. Staff were local and friendly. Aside from the garden there is a small seating area indoors near the bar for pre-meal drinks. The menu was not huge (about 6 starters, 10 mains and 4 desserts at our visit) but there is a reasonable selection. We placed our order for drinks at the bar - a G&T for my wife (£7.25) and a glass of wine for myself from the bottle which I requested for the table. Drinks delivered we’d had a chance to look over the menu and both asked for a starter of Garlic & Chilli King Prawns on toasted sourdough (£9.50) and mains of a Sirloin and a Ribeye steak respectively. The steaks were served with a mushroom, tomato and seasoned fries along with our choice of Doddington Darling Blue Cheese sauce. At the time we hadn’t realised that, as part of a deal, the two steaks, sauce and a bottle of wine were offered at £50 and that is what we were ultimately charged. The starters were tasty and although the steaks possibly weren’t quite as good as we get back home, the mains were nevertheless enjoyable. There were quite a few diners and consequently a good ambiance about the place. We ordered Sticky Toffee Pudding and a White Chocolate, Strawberry & Vanilla Meringue for dessert (£7 each) and these were good as expected. After retiring to the bar area my wife had another G&T and I ordered an amaretto on ice (£6) to round off the evening. Having heard that the bar would be out of bounds to us due to a private function the following night, we ordered another bottle of wine for a nightcap and to take to our room - staff having thoughtfully provided a cooler. On this occasion it was only a short walk to our accommodation directly upstairs. Overall a very nice meal with food at £83 and drinks at £43 including our wine for the second evening. The breakfast served in the restaurant on both mornings was of a very high standard. The choice was extensive with cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit pots followed by hot dishes made to order. All the food was of very good quality, nicely prepared and presented and served with a friendly member of staff happy to have a chat about our outings and make suggestions of things to see in the area.

Great value, well-cooked food and friendly service: everything a cafe should be. We arrived when the cafe was busy - always a good sign - and were told that because it was so busy there may be a slight delay. We didn't have too long to wait, however, and the quality of the food was worth it. Great choice of soups and toasties / panini. Highly recommend.

Ordered three pizzas and a wrap, wrap and chips ice cold and pizzas burned like in the picture. Shocking standard for fresh made food, who is actually looking at this and saying that’s fine to send out. If there was any other take away open In Wooler these guys would be closed from lack of business. My advice go to co op and get a chilled pizza and cook it yourself. I’m all for supporting local businesses but only if they actually care about their customers and standards. Otherwise they deserve big business to swallow them up. Wake up and start to care.

Manage to get a last minute booking here for Sundays dinner, the Sunday dinners were fantastic and suited my small children too. The portions were huge, they were very helpful the staff and so friendly to me and my family. They gave my small dog a water bowl too some treats. I would come here again if I came back to wooler.
