Really well worth a visit. Staff were very good and attentive. Everywhere was clean and comfortable. We chose just main and dessert. Steak for main, mine was slightly chewy but husbands was spot on so must have been the cut. I had ice cream which was delicious and husband had cheese & biscuits so we could share. Perfect evening and perfect wines. Booked in again for tomorrow night as we are staying in the cottage right next door, which is also excellent 🤩

This traditional pub has a rural location in the village of Chatton. We travelled around 11 miles each way from our accommodation at Branton and took in a few single track roads, a ford and some of the local wildlife to get there and back. At one point a hare was running down the road in front of us but refused to get off the tarmac onto the grass verge or under a hedge, resulting in us following it for what seemed like a mile or so! Not to be outdone a flock of partridge gave us the same treatment not long afterwards! Nothing would tempt them to leave the road until I almost ran over them and they eventually took flight. Our encounters had us guessing what might be on the menu however as it transpires neither made the list. There was parking at the front of the pub and I discovered later that there were spaces at the rear too. Fortunately we had reserved a table as it was a busy place on arrival, lots of people out for a Sunday bar meal and drinks creating a good ambiance. Slightly away from the hub of the bar we were shown down a passageway towards the rear of the building where there were a couple more areas for dining, full of old English country style furnishings and décor. Fortunately there were plenty of customers in this area too so no shortage of atmosphere. The menu was weighted towards meats of various descriptions although there were a couple of veggie options too, with starters from £5 - £14 and mains £16 - £22. We both ordered Lemon & Confit Garlic Roasted Chicken Supreme (£17) which came with a large selection of vegetables. Having failed to notice this on the menu, and prompted by our waitress, we ordered up a side of Truffled Cauliflower Cheese (£4.50) just for good measure. When the meal arrived we realised no sides were actually required - the dish was accompanied by mash, duck fat roasted potatoes, buttered suede, braised red cabbage, honey glazed carrots & parsnips, seasonal greens, Yorkshire Pudding and gravy. The only thing missing was cauliflower... and a partridge in a pear tree and given our journey we could possibly have brought the latter with us. The chicken was tender and all the vegetables, including the cauliflower, were fresh and full of flavour. Although my wife only managed a single scoop of ice cream for dessert (£3) I was tempted by the Raspberry & Elderflower Gin Eton Mess which came with Chantilly cream & crushed meringue (£8). It was nice but probably unnecessary. A G&T (£6.60) and a ½ pint of local beer accompanied the meal which in total cost just under £59 which we considered good value for money. Our return to the accommodation was again interesting. For those less keen on travel the pub has five rooms available for a stay over.

I booked for 6 people for Sunday lunch but unfortunately 3 of our party were delayed by 40 minutes. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and nothing was a problem to them . When we eventually arrived and our food was served it was delicious. Some had chicken , others lamb. Both were great, tasty and piping hot. Would definitely recommend and will eat there again.

Great tranquil place to stay . We've stayed here twice now . The first time there were a few problems with the accommodation. This time however the accommodation was fine Nice place to relax after a week of stress and the food is nice. Only criticism is the wait for a cooked breakfast 45 mins . Not that it was busy ... 6 guests! Server was pleasant however and friendly. She apologised for the wait. Get that right Percy Arms and your a winner !

Overnight stay. We had Sunday lunch. The hotel was lovely. The bedroom perfect. We had storms with a significant power cut in the area. One slight critism was that no one knocked on to explain the situation or there was no battery powered torch. Worth thinking about as several people had mentioned power cuts can happen when bad weather hits especially in winter. I don't want this to detract from a lovely stay. Our Sunday lunch was beautiful.

Meal was lovely. We booked late in the week so only gave them a few days notice for a Saturday evening... Probably a slight mistake on our part as we know as locals, how very busy it gets in summer tourist season with "walk -ins"... So, they were maxed out; - nevertheless, the young staff coped as best as they could and, as we had great company with us anyway, we hardly noticed the long wait till we got our order. So all in all, very good in deed! Well done guys and girls... It's almost impossible to get effective staff levels without a strict booking system as you never know how many walk-ins you'll be getting, but you coped admirably. Thanks, and see you again soon.

The food for main course were very good. The starter of foccacia bread and dips was sadly bland although the sundried tomatoes were very tasty and rescued the dish. The disappointment was at the end of the meal when our guest examined the glass she was drinking from was filthy. We pointed this out to staff who were apologetic but did not seem shocked or overly concerned at its state. We use the pub to entertain our guests but will probably change to somewhere else in future.

After the restaurant being recommended by the holiday host we spent our first evening in Chatton having dinner at the Percy Arms. The quality of the food was decidedly average, with my pasta carbonara with a fried hens egg being well below par since the hens egg had burst and dried up and my husbands broccoli being so hard it cannot have seen boiling water for more than a couple of seconds. The service was again average with longer wait than usual for drinks, empty glasses not cleared away and a very clumsy and loud waitress spraying the adjacent tables liberally with disinfectant to lay breakfast placings. So liberally in fact that my husband had a coughing fit. When asked, the bill then was casually thrown on the table. We really were not made to feel welcome. Needless to say we chose to drive out for dinner for the rest of the holiday.

We recently stayed at The Percy Arms for four nights whilst on a trip to beautiful Northumberland. We arrived quite late at 8 pm and had booked dinner. My husbands was dreadfully over cooked and the waitress changed it but it was really no better. The rooms were fine and shower good but breakfast was a 30/40 minute wait from time of ordering and as our stay progressed things kept running out. Marmalade, honey, sourdough. We never got any English breakfast tea in our room and on the last day we had no loo roll. Bar service was very slow any our room was very dusty. When it came to check out we were charged for food and drinks we never had. All in all The Percy Arms you really must try harder.

We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Percy Arms Hotel. The food was very good and is excellent value for money. Our only negative was that the service was very, very slow. We had booked for 1.00pm, arrived early, got a drink and our starters fairly promptly, but then had to wait over an hour for our main course ( although the food was good) . We think there was a lack of supervision of the young staff who did not seem to be aware how long folk were waiting .

The Percy Arms is relatively convenient to where we live making it ideal as a venue if we want a meal out. It is nice pub with friendly helpful staff, friendly customers and good atmosphere. There are several regulars who call in helping with the atmosphere. Parking is a little limited but inside there are quite a few tables in different areas to choose from (including dog friendly tables). I would recommend booking as it can get busy at times. The food is excellent. We've eaten there a number of times having meals including fish, pies/sausage and mash, calves liver and an exceptionally good thai curry on our most recent visit. Good deserts too including a great sticky toffee sponge with a sauce that isn't too sweet (a pleasant change) and lovely cheese cake. It isn't the cheapest in the area but the quality is excellent so you definitely get what you pay for - it is worth the little extra if you can. We'll be back

Lovely decor let down massively by the food on offer. 3 Sunday lunches and a child's meal and the potatoes across all were poor to say the least, hard and highly overseasoned. Two trio Sunday lunches ordered and the meat was tough and fatty however the veg was plentiful. My daughter ordered chicken goujons and whilst the chicken was well cooked the batter they were coated in was inedible, soggy and tasted strange whilst the chips rock hard and drowned in rock salt. Sadly we would not return for food.

I searched best Sunday roasts in Northumberland and this was listed in a blog. For me, a roast is about the trimmings and the Percy Arms didn’t disappoint. There were so many different types of vegetables, an enormous Yorkshire pudding, great roast potatoes and the gravy was thick and delicious, with plenty of it. Brilliant value for money. Only marked a star down for the speed of the service, drinks arriving after the food, but I think the very friendly and helpful staff were overwhelmed with visitors.

Average food & average service. We waited 20 mins for our drinks to arrive, despite several reminders. We ordered the squid which was dry & tasteless & didn’t have the chilli dip & cost £9.50. The cauliflower starter was mushy & unpleasant. On a positive note, the main courses were all delicious ie the salmon, the steak pie & the venison sirloin. However I was originally given the venison burger so had to wait a further 15 mins for it to arrive. The server (who did try to resolve the situation) gave us a reduction on the bill. We have eaten many times at the Percy Arms but this time was shambolic. It didn’t appear that anyone was in overall charge, although the whole team were very pleasant.

We stayed 3 nights in River Till room which was really spacious and cosy, very clean and the coffee machine was an added bonus. Bathroom was great and the big bath was so welcome after walking around the beautiful Northumberland. Although it could be improved by the addition of some sort of shelving/storage for your toiletries. Evening meals were excellent and the bar/waiting staff were very pleasant. Breakfasts were a bit hit and miss though. I think more consistency is required. The first morning we were not offered any juice and my poached egg was very questionable! Coffee was cold by the time the waitress had found some sugar and I wasn’t offered any more. It seemed a bit haphazard. A previous review mentioned the guest who had been given only half his breakfast - this was the same day! The next day was totally different, a new waitress was lovely and showed a real interest in what we were doing that day and gave recommendations. We were offered juice and asked if we needed anything else - I’d opted for fried egg to avoid the poached and it was perfect. The hotel is perfectly located in a lovely village and despite a couple of minor issues, we would certainly return for another visit.

Thank you for reaching out for feedback. Whilst we enjoyed our evening meal and the accommodation was to standard we were extremely disappointed with our breakfast . The waitress was pleasant however we were not offered any fruit juice or toast to accompany the breakfast. It was obvious before our breakfast arrived that other dinners were unhappy with one individual having to complain his breakfast was missing the poached egg and sourdough, he was only presented with bacon and avocado on his plate. We had to wait a significant time for our breakfast to arrive and when it did it was stone cold and was not well cooked and really uninspiring to say the least. Obviously there is a significant difference in skill set between the evening chef and the breakfast cook. Sad to say our overall experience was tainted by a poor quality breakfast experience which is the last impression you leave the Percy Arms with especially as it was a birthday celebration.
