Booked a Sunday lunch here with wife, plus doggo in tow (checked ahead to ensure itâs dog-friendly). Upon entering we found the interior rather disconcerting, itâs not a cosy traditional pub dining experience, it has more of a school refectory ambience. But we were immediately greeted by the (apparently, based on reviews) new manager, Tim. Very attentive he was too, we got seated in no time even though we turned up a bit earlier than planned. Orders for drinks and food were efficient (I appreciated the time taken to run the on-tap range of ales/lagers). The mains were standard Sunday beef roasts, with a shared side of cauliflower & cheese. These were both good, the beef in particular was good quality I thought. Desserts were definitely a let-down. Sticky toffee âloafâ (new term to me, usually âpuddingâ) was indeed a loaf-shape, and it was pretty bland, even with a dollop of ice cream. Once the ice cream was gone I could not finish the loaf, too dry. The apple crumble with custard. Hmm, all I could think was how Gordon Ramsay would have a hissy fit, the presentation was so poor. The sample I tasted was ok, but still. Didnât stay for coffee, my wife drew a line at that after the dessert debacle. Totalled ÂŁ55 and change, which was thought reasonable. All in all, the experience was ok. Service was efficient and staff were friendly. Work on those desserts guys!

Visited the Secret Thai Garden in Coach and Horses, recommended by friends. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. The waiter who served us was lovely . He even walked us to the car with an umbrella because of the heavy rain. Unfortunately it is closing end of November but there is another Secret Thai Garden in Potters Bar which we intend to visit. I can recommend the Green Curry and my friend loves the duck in pancakes

The drive was nice with view of the country roads. On arrival rooms are very basic not much to view apart from the Pods and fields. Unfortunately, there are no facilities at the hotel e.g. spa, gym, etc just a bar with small sitting area that closes at 12am. As your in the middle of no where you literally spend time in the room & go dinner then back to roomđŽâđ¨ The hotel doesn't offer any other food e.g. Breakfast apart from the dinner which you pay for in the stay which is also overpriced. Personally, Food & drinks overated it needs to be reviewed as you can get a better variety of quality food in other places especially local vendors on your high street. The building itself is historically beautiful for private hire as you can utilize the grounds but waste of money for travel, dine & stay. You can better value & quality in Holiday Inn! Recommend to visit Pods in London instead more to do for a day & night trip.

I ordered a soup and a latte. The coffee turned up within 10 minutes and was told the soup was coming soon. I waited another 30 minutes and walked out without claiming a refund. It is utterly ridiculous to be kept waiting 40 minutes for a bowl of soup. I will never visit this establishment ever again.

Got to be the slowest staff I have ever seen. The two young lads need a rocket up their proverbials as they are painfully slow. Queue out the door only because of this and undoubtedly losing trade. Train your staff or replace them is the best advice this business will ever get.
