Visited the Secret Thai Garden in Coach and Horses, recommended by friends. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. The waiter who served us was lovely . He even walked us to the car with an umbrella because of the heavy rain. Unfortunately it is closing end of November but there is another Secret Thai Garden in Potters Bar which we intend to visit. I can recommend the Green Curry and my friend loves the duck in pancakes

Should have phoned but turned up on spec only to be told they weren’t serving food this week. Also, for the third time recently the Disabled bay -essential for me-was occupied by non Blue Badge car. Neither the clientele or the pub take disabled parking seriously-shame as the food is excellent.

Sunny day and day off from work so decided to go somewhere different for an out door lunch . Lovely garden with really comfortable seats -Thai food was delicious and all freshly cooked . Had mixed starters and Pad Thai -partner had Weeping Tiger with rice -beautifully cooked and presented-too much food for me so the waitress very kindly wrapped it up for me to take home We thought everything was reasonably priced and good value for money.drink’s average pricing Staff were really friendly-will definitely return -will have to book if it’s a weekend -barman says it gets very busy -car park is very small -we parked in the last space and there were not many people in or outside of the pub. Great find !!

The food is great and reasonably priced however, be warned the pub drinks and your food bill are separate… and the pub drinks are pricey !!! We were charged £2.50 for a soda water when we queried it we were told that was the price for soda from the pump, not even bottled!!! I have never paid for soda water from the pub at other establishment, daylight robbery!! Needless to say this left a bad taste in our mouths, in future I will order a takeaway and get my drinks from the local supermarket!!!

We arrived without a booking and just before the car park was full, as there is limited parking there. We was greeted nicely and shown to our table, as we chose to eat in the Thai restaurant 'the secret garden'. We also ate indoors instead of outdoors. The drinks come from the bar and the food comes from the restaurant, so you will get two separate bills, is you want more drinks you would have to get up to get them also again. Sitting at our table we noticed it was dirty with a couple of food bits on it, you could tell that it was cleaned but you can see that it just wasn't cleaned properly, so we done it ourselves. The drinks also came in dirty glasses which was off putting also. The staff are friendly which is nice, all the food was really tasty, there was no complimentary prawn crackers, and never noticed them on the menu which is also a shame as we do look forward to having them when we go to any Thai restaurant. Our drinks order was slightly wrong too but we just let that go. Another observation is that when seated unless you are having your order taken or food brought to you the staff aren't there in case you wanted or needed anything, they could be understaffed so can't be too critically for that. Nice food, friendly people, just wish they paid attention to detail, as this place could have been a placed we visited more often.

I am disabled and, a week ago, a friend took me to the pub hoping to have another of their excellent Thai meals. We headed to the disabled bay only to find a massive Mercedes car at an angle blocking not only the disabled bay but also the adjacent bay. Not a Blue badge in sight. While realising the pub cannot be responsible for such inconsiderate parking it seems totally beyond reason to have Disability Bays which are not available to the disabled. i emailed the pub but had no response - not even an acknowledgement. a different pub got my trade.

We saw the outside of this pub and thought the Chrsitmas decorations at the front entrance were lovely so decided to pop in for a drink in the hope to also have a quick bar snack. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was serving on the bar (wish we took her name) who swiftly got our drinks. Lots of locals at the bar which I always think is promising. We ordered some Thai starters and a quater crispy duck, all of which were lovely. My husband loved his salt & pepper chicken wings! A lovely hour spent in a lovely village pub which a Thai food twist.

Outstanding. We hadn’t booked so weren’t able to secure a table for 5 at 630pm. This place is popular! Decided to have a beer on the front patio as we waited for our food as a takeaway. We had: Chicken Satay Vegetable Spring Rolls Dim Sum Tempura Prawns Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings 1/4 Crispy Aromatic Duck Thai Green Chicken Massaman Chicken Curry Sweet and Sour Chicken Beef in Oyster Sauce Absolutely delicious. Can’t fault it except for one thing. I wish we had planned ahead and booked a table so I could have left a tip! We will most certainly be booking ahead for a family get together in the near future. Thank you. Lovely.

Well….where do I start!!!!! After reading many of the already horrendous reviews for this place ….I was compelled to be as honest as I could. Seemed really nice to start with and after being cooped up for so long due to the restrictions , we were really looking forward to a nice night out with friends. The food smelt lovely but we had incorrect dishes , dishes missing , and when we asked politely twice, the attitude of the staff wasn’t great in the slightest. We know mistakes happen and feel we were as accommodating and understanding as possible but when you as the customer should be right to a degree you don’t expect the staff to give attitude to you. In my experience ….the very little times we have ever had to mention any issues with the meal, they have bent over backwards to rectify as they want your custom again. From the reviews I’ve read ….this doesn’t seem to be their style and clearly not bothered whether you come back or not. I don’t think we will be returning because we all felt quite uncomfortable. A real shame because the surroundings were nice

We had booked for lunch in the cube. However, when we arrived, we were bumped out of the cube into the “snug” (AKA the bar), due to the fact that it was raining and they had two private parties booked for the garden which meant that they had to move one to the cube and the other to the restaurant. If you make a “garden” booking then you plainly accept the risk that it might rain: you cannot disregard the bookings of multiple other customers purely for the monetary benefit of satisfying a large party who have voluntarily chosen to book outside on a rainy day. When we spoke with the landlady she was incredibly rude and told us “there is nothing wrong with our snug”, and that she was “too busy” to talk. Appalling service from an otherwise lovely pub.

Visited this pub a few weeks ago and had a lovely meal, it was a lovely sunny day, atmosphere was great in the garden with a live singer so after a long awaited catch up with my sister I decided to take her there. We was running late due to a closure of a road but called to explain we are late for the table we booked and that wasn’t a problem. Thai meal was lovely and very quickly served but decided to make a night of it and go into the garden where we was entertained with a DJ , a few people dancing and had a lovely evening. We went into the bar area a little later on and met some of the locals and the landlady and what a friendly bunch they were , all so welcoming and treated you like you was a local. Great night, great people and staff and great place. We even shared a cab and the two guys paid for you. Thank you all for making our night. Will definitely return ASAP

Visited here for the first time on a cold, windy Bank Holiday Monday. Due to COVID regulations we had to sit outside, and the gloomy weather meant we were the only customers! After moving a table to find a bit of shelter from the wind behind the outside bar, we hunkered down to enjoy some Thai food, we had a delicious selection of starters and chicken/prawn Pad Thai noodles. Service was good and prices reasonable. Will be back in better weather!

If you're looking for an average Thai meal in a discotheque full of chavs shouting at the tops of their voices then you've come to the right place. Romantic? No. Relaxing? No. Covid rules compliant? Not even close. The food is ok and service good until the bill came and we had been charged for someone else's drinks! The chances of us returning here are less than zero and I have absolutely no idea why it is so popular and hard to get a table. The good news is that the pub next door has just reopened after a refurb and they serve food.

We had a Thai meal here this evening. The food was lovely but the restaurant, which is joined to the pub bar, was extremely noisy. A man, who obviously thought he had a good voice, was shouting along to the music, people were being seated in the restaurant as there weren’t enough tables in the bar, and the restaurant was a cut through to the toilets and garden. My main complaint is that hardly any customers walking through the restaurant were wearing masks. People were continually passing our table to go outside or to the toilets without face coverings. It was the most unrelaxing meal I’ve ever had.

My first experience of Thai but my friend new enough - the menu and the staff filled in the gaps. My wife and I booked a table for Saturday evening, as we found out it also does Thai food there, and we both love Thai. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very nice pub, traditional looking. Good choice of beers, ales were very good. Can’t really fault the pub. But, the Thai restaurant! Well, the food was very disappointing really. We have been to many Thai restaurant’s over the years and around the world, but honestly, this was very poor. Thai fish cakes starter, I found them chewy, if they didn’t come with sweet chilli dip, there would have been no flavour at all. But the spare ribs were very tasty. For main course I tried the Red Curry, I enjoy hot food. On the menu there are 2 chilli’s symbols. which I took to mean “Hot”. No, there was no chilli heat there at all, the only real flavour I got from it was coconut.

All of the serving staff were friendly in quick in serving the food which was good wholesome pub food. The only problem was trying to buy a drink and order the food. The person behind the bar was so slow that at times I saw at least eight people queuing to either buy a drink or order some food. I also noticed two couples who appeared to be fed up with waiting and left The final straw was when the person working the bar was heard to say 'I'M NOT GOING TO RUSH FOR ANYONE'. Will I come again? Its a shame I have to rate this poor because it is such a quaint and pretty pub in the lovely setting of Newgate Street Village. However, we stopped in for a drink and a snack the other day and we won't be going back any time soon. We stood at the bar whilst the lady was writing up the specials on a board. Eventually she acknowledged us and said she wouldn't be long. After some time and further conversations with other staff she came to serve us. I ordered drinks and asked for two portions of chips which were shown on the menu. The lady said that Chef didn't like to serve just chips and would we like a meal to go with them. At that, we took our drinks outside and had a pleasant few minutes in the sunshine before returning home for a sandwich.

This is a real old style village pub that we love visiting regularly, particularly in the summer, as it has a large beer garden, ideal for families. Unfortunately it had lost its identity over recent years. The pub is now under new management & what a difference it has made to the atmosphere. The staff are now welcoming & the locals are friendly. More importantly they have a new chef, recruited from a local hotel & the food is once again back to their previous high standards. A new menu is now in place, the food is tasty & hot, the service fast & all in all its great value for money. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Highly recommended once again.

Perhaps she'd just taken over. Certainly the experience was chaotic. Part of the pub was bing decorated, so everyone was crowded in quite a small space getting away from the paint fumes. The strange fan heater in the grate near us was very noisy. Because it was hard to get around, she came to our table to take the order, but knew nothing at all about the beers. The menu was limited for us - my friend is a vegetarian and I am on a low-cholestoral diet - but we settled in the end for ciabatas - they came with a nice salad and coleslaw, but the bread was impossible to cut through and we had to put it to one side. Finally, she messed up the credit card payment. And as my friend says, when two older women turn up at your pub in hiking gear, you might find a moment to say "where have you come from? Where are you going?". Not impressed.

This truly represents an authentic British pub.And the landlord that likes traditional values. We had a terrific Sunday lunch in this warm and cosy boozer. This is not a fancy chain,so don't expect baloney, just a good pint of beer,a wonderful glass of wine, great food and good conversation. No piped music, no false have a nice day.Come here for ambience and tradition. It also has an expansive rear garden for sunny days.

No Fish as one of their fryers had broken. As we ordered we were asked if we were hungry as it was going to be a long wait. I ordered home made lasagne and i can only describe it as the worst I have ever had. When the waitress came to take my plate which had hardly been touched she made no attempt t ask whether everything was ok..It clearly wasn't and she didn't seem interested

Been in for drinks, got a lovely feel about it. Got a real old English pub feeling to it. I was staying at a local hotel so made a change from normal hotel for the evening. Not eaten there but the food smelt great

Pleasant friendly local pub, lack of staff and long wait for lunch spoilt the occasion of introducing friends to this beautiful Village. Had to ask for condiments and the plates whipped away as soon as knife and fork put down. Will not be returning.

Arrived on site for a business lunch meeting. I had never visited the pub before but was immediately drawn to the look and feel of the building. I was met with a very warm welcome from the bar staff. Was recommended to try the dressed crab which was absolutely fantastic. Beautifully presented on the plate. Highly recommended. As the sun was shining we held the meeting in the rear garden on what is obviously a brand new block paved patio. The garden is beautifully maintained with a children's play area located to the rear. Would thoroughly recommend a visit

I have eaten here on a couple of occasions and each time have had to listen to loud conversations with lots of swearing included ! The food is good , although I was a little disappointed with the sandwiches , everyday sliced bread was used and when you pay £6.50 for a sandwich you expect a decent loaf to be used . The garden area is the best part of this pub . I wouldn't make a conscious effort to return here .

So we rolled up for a Sunday afternoon roast dinner. The girl behind the bar could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The menu gave us the choice of two sized roast dinners - large at £12.50 and small at £8.50. As we both had an appetite we went for large. The dinner we both chose was "Roast pork and crackling". When the dinners arrived, we were about to call the waiter back to explain the chef had forgotten the crackling. However before we did, my friend noticed the pork crackling hidden in the centere of the yorkshire pud. When I tell you that the pud was no more than 6cm across, you get the idea of how small the crackling wasd. I called the waiter back and asked if we could perhaps have some more crackling. He went to the chef and then came back and told us that as there was a table for 12 booked, they had to share out the crackling and as such there was no more available. So we each made do with a piece of crackling about 2cm across. Disappointing! The rest of the meal was very average. It reminded us of a school dinner in quality AND size. Fine for a 12 year old but not enough for a hungrey adult.I mentioned this to the chef (who I think was called Steve) when we paid. He got a little annoyed and told us he had given us three potatoes (actually it was a couple of potatoes cut into three bits) and he had given us a home made Yorkshire pudding.... Then a lical punter came up and calling our parentage into question said to the chef "Steve these are crazy ******** ignore them". And so the chef did. We paid and left -never to return!! My friend went and an hour later had another roast dinner - a proper one. I went home and snacked.....

I visited this pub by accident on the 17th February 2016. My windscreen wipers had stopped in the pouring rain so I had to pull over quickly, into a pub car park! I rang for help but after a good couple of hours my emergency fourth service never showed. I got chatting to the barmaid, Hannah, who was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I also got chatting to the regulars who were also friendly, warm and welcoming. After two hours barmaid Hannah introduced me to Ray a mechanic. He went out and fixed my car and refused to take any payment. Ray due to his mechanical skills is known as "The Ray A" and "The R.A.Y." Thanks to him I made it home with no further problems that night. This really is a friendly pub where both staff and customers are like one big family ready to welcome and befriend new faces. I live a good hundred miles away but any excuse and I'll be back to visit this most friendly, helpful and beautiful pub. Thank you The Coach and Horses xx

The Coach and Horses is a lovely pub with plenty off space both inside and out (terrace at the front for car-watching and in the garden with a big field and play area for children). Good food. Good choice of ales. Good company.

Six of us visited this venue for a Saturday evening meal as guests from Ponsbourne Park Hotel. We arrived about 1930hrs. It was a traditional English pub in a lovely setting. There were a lot of people already sitting outside but there were some free tables. Unfortunately, the large number of smokers made it unpleasant to even consider eating outside. Inside the pub was small but pleasant. Because some smokers were standing in the entrance to the pub, the interior was filling with smoke, it can't have been pleasant for the staff. We had to wait a while to be served as the till had broken down and then waited a while for the food to be prepared. When the food arrived we all enjoyed our meals: a decent sized serving. If we were in the area again we would visit this pub.

I went here on Sunday with my daughter, son in law and their kids, and a Swedish family they'd met on holiday. We wanted them to sample a proper English roast, and we were all very impressed with the food ! I suppose my only slight complaint was that it took quite a long to come, but frankly I'd rather wait for freshly cooked food, than to have quick microwaved food ! As a bonus for an old (ish) man, there was a gorgeous bar lady serving at the bar :-) !! I'll be back :-)

The drive was nice with view of the country roads. On arrival rooms are very basic not much to view apart from the Pods and fields. Unfortunately, there are no facilities at the hotel e.g. spa, gym, etc just a bar with small sitting area that closes at 12am. As your in the middle of no where you literally spend time in the room & go dinner then back to room😮💨 The hotel doesn't offer any other food e.g. Breakfast apart from the dinner which you pay for in the stay which is also overpriced. Personally, Food & drinks overated it needs to be reviewed as you can get a better variety of quality food in other places especially local vendors on your high street. The building itself is historically beautiful for private hire as you can utilize the grounds but waste of money for travel, dine & stay. You can better value & quality in Holiday Inn! Recommend to visit Pods in London instead more to do for a day & night trip.

Very nice place for Sunday roast! We did the carvery and it was very flavourful. However because they give you 2 pieces of meat no matter what, if you do get the smaller end of the meat piece, like us, the portion is considerably smaller than if you get the 2 slices from the opposite end.
