Fantastic find for a special birthday treat. This is an exclusive small dining room above the Sloop Inn. The menu is the same fabulous fresh food and cooked in the same kitchen as the pub but it is quiet, smart and a fabulous classy ambience upstairs. We were lucky to have the best, romantic window table in the house, the most delicious fresh cooked food and fantastic friendly service. I had Mackerel Pate to start and the Fish Pie which was divine. My husband had fresh cooked Mussels and the most tender and flavoursome Steak he has ever had, and he's had a lot ! The table next to us had a couple of the seafood/fish platters to share which really looked amazing, brimming with fresh crab, lobster, prawns etc. We really enjoyed our meal and the ambience would definitely recommend to others and visit again.

The starter was absolutely wonderful, but took about an hour to show up, then another hour between starter-main course. The pie wasn't great and the mashed potato felt like it'd been under the heat lamp all day

Came here tonight with my son, brother and husband. We had a lovely time, the bar lady and the owner were both friendly and welcoming, my son has additional needs and was really chuffed he was allowed to play swingball and was given some ice pops! Its genuinely nice pub, glorious pizza! Friendly doggos too that enjoyed all the pets! I do think some of the recent bad reviews are terribly enough with all the things the pub's owners have gone through last year and this year, people need to be kind!

I was greeted by "we don't cater for gluten free diets". Fortunately my husband was not with me, I was out with a friend. After discussing the low risk of cross contamination for me, I was offered two main course options and a dessert. Food was good and well presented. We had to go to the bar to remind them to take our order, again to ask for a desert and again to ask for the bill. At no time were we offered another drink, such a shame as sales across the bar must be really poor. Why don't staff get trained in good service anymore 🫤

Poor quality food, seriously overpiced. More expensive than five guys with meat quality similar to a burger van. Both kids burgers were burn't. Nobdy around to complain to. Mediocre chicken burger and chips £14!

Room was adequate. Ceiling height was a problem at times, and I'm not a tall person. Shower incorporated with bath, could not stand up straight to use it because of the ceiling height. Was prompted when checking in online if wanted a bath or shower, I requested a shower. Bar staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast next morning was a bit Fawlty Towers! Ordered it and it was very slow coming out to the table. A full blown argument could be heard coming from the kitchen. When it did arrive, some items were hot and some were warm. Toaster had one section not working on it. I was already running late for an appointment, so couldn't send the breakfast back for heating up. Location is beside the railway station which is handy if arriving by train. But there is not much else around it. Parking is limited also for this establishment.
