Bought a salad box from here a few weeks ago, the gentleman in the shop was absolutely lovely and this was one of the best salads I have ever had. Will be back!

Fantastic venue, Andy and Kirsty were fabulous hosts for my 60th party. They were so accommodating and helpful. The hot food buffet was excellent, very tasty and well presented. We had lots of very positive feedback from our guests. Everything we asked for was delivered hassle free. It was all just perfect. I would definitely recommend using this venue for any celebration in the future! Thank you so much for making my birthday so special!

By far our favourite pub in Matlock. Always clean and well run with polite, attentive staff. A real varied menu with tapas now every day, which is delicious, and really good value. An all-round great pub, and the goats cheese pizza is great. Real good selection of beer, cider and ales on tap. We don't even mind the wonky tables as they have plenty of beer mats (lol).

Divine eating experience. We booked for a birthday occasion and we were treated a special culinary journey. Impossible, almost, to choose a favourite course from our tasting menus; the quality was so high. Pulled pork canapés, seared sea bass, roast rump of lamb, all fabulous. We both thought the Gruyère royal was exquisite, creamed and served with a pickled grape; perfect. Portion sizes were spot on. Taster menus can sometimes be challenging! This was just right. The wine list was short but excellent, we went for the Amarone which was superb. Deep and peppery, it went well with all the courses. The service was top class. Attentive but not intrusive. All the staff were happy, polite and professional. Happy to engage in conversation and a real credit to the establishment. It’s a drive from Saddleworth but well worth it. We’ll be back!

I stayed here on the second night of a three day cycling trip. On arrival (after climbing a very steep hill up to the pub) the staff were really friendly and helpful - offering me a pint of water as I checked in! The accommodation is decent - converted stabling out the back of the pub. I had a ground floor room which was really useful for my bike and bags. I’d say the bathroom is a bit tired but otherwise a nice room. Comfortable. It was cold at night still so no one outside but I’d be interested how quiet it is in the summer as you are right next to the pub garden. One thing the room lacked was curtains though. There were blinds but not blackout so the room got bright from sun up. I ate in the restaurant that night. I had the pasta which was really tasty and came with garlic bread. I was also very tempted by the desserts and indulged in the crumble! All in all a fairly decent place for a night’s stop. There was no breakfast available the next day but I was happy to crack on for a bit and find some where en route
