Raba Indian Restaurant

Lerwick North, Shetland Islands
24/10/2018: The food was excellent, portions were quite big. Drinks expensive but all in all a good place. We arrived early and the place was freezing cold but that hasn’t put us off. We will return when we are next on the island
31/08/2018: We were overnight from a cruise ship and were desperate for some spicy food. We didn't book and just turned up. They were so accommodating, altering all the dishes to our tastes and requirements. They even cooked one of the dishes with no ginger. It was so good we booked takeaway when we came back at lunchtime. Awesome curry.

Royal Tiger

Keith and Cullen, Moray
10/12/2018: So I am working away from home and I decide to go and have a bite to eat here! I am greeted with are you wanting takeaway? I say no as o had your donned meat kebab the night because abd it was dried up microwaveable crap!!!!! But others told me of you eat in it’s better so I decide to order a job alcoholic beer which I was so shocked at how he poured it when it came to the table then after the starter I thought it was time to leave after his discusting behaviour after I questioned him about his drink which he served me was SOUR!!! To this I got
31/10/2018: I ordered a dinner wrap which was little more than awful and got binned was microwaved donner meat dryed cardboard would be more appetising. And also a chicken and vegetable pizza which looked and sounded good as I asked for no pineapple but that request was ignored as it’s premade mix of vegetables and pineapple along with a shop bought pizza base which was as dry it was inedible and to be expected to pay £15.90 for this farce of a meal utter joke

Bengal Cuisine

Cromarty Firth, Highland
16/12/2018: The Bengal was recommended by some friends living in nearby Invergorden so decided to give it a try.
14/12/2018: Having not been for several years, my partner and I called on a Thursday evening . I appreciate it was a fortnight before Christmas, but the place was dead for the whole time we were there.

Bangla Spice

Steòrnabhagh a Deas, Eilean Siar
14/10/2018: Had a lovely takeaway from here, lovely korma, rogan josh and poppadums with sauces. Naan bread is lush aswell.
05/10/2018: It’s Friday night and I have walked past numerous ‘eateries’ full of customers. I fancied an Indian meal and this place was recommended. I checked reviews and they were varied but on the whole positive. Alas, my experience was not so good. The place was empty (a cautionary warning perhaps?). I ordered and the meal was delivered after 15mins, Sauces and sides were excellent but the chicken was tougher than anything ever tasted before.

Caithness Balti House

Wick, Highland
28/09/2017: very nice staff, quite attentive. the food was beautiful and I would recommend the madras it was perfect.
11/09/2017: Easy to find which is always a good start. A really good curry and about average price. The Bengal fish curry was especially tasty. The decor could do with some updating, but the place is clean and the staff were very attentive without being overbearing. All in all a good meal on a very wet Monday night in Wick.

The Spice Route

North, West and Central Sutherland, Highland
10/11/2018: The last thing you'd expect to encounter on a visit to the remote north western most reaches of Scotland is a top notch Indian takeaway. It exists! On the day that we followed our curiosity to Mike and Lucy's front gate, we were fortunate to enjoy an evening feast of Malabar langoustine curry, a vegetable curry from Kerala, crispy Indian bhaji and tasty naan, all defrosted from frozen and very easily reheated. The flavours were excellent, the ingredients clearly very fresh and the dishes not oily. We polished off the lot! Mike told us he learned to cook Indian food while posted to India in an earlier career. His cuisine represents the different regions of India and he recommended dishes according to how complementary the flavours of each dish would be for our meal. We were also eyeing the Ayam Betutu from Bali - next time! The idea of frozen meals is brilliant and perfect for this area. The Spice Route is conveniently located a short way off the road to Kinlochbervie that leads to walks to Sandwood Bay, little picnicking coves and a horse trekking centre. After a day of outdoor activity, Mike and Lucy's food was a treat. We will certainly be back!
09/11/2018: The Spice Route produces a delicous variety of flavoursome dishes that will appeal to a wide range of different palettes. The curry hut itself is located not far from Rhiconich. Ordering is easy and the responses time are speedy. Advice, information are readily available from the knowledgeable owner. Each dish is generously proportioned, easy to reheat and a delight to consume. We have used The Spice Route twice now on our visits to N Scotland and recommend it unreservedly for its quality and variety.
