Another delicious lunch at this gem of a restaurant situated in the stunning Brecon Beacons. A lovely warm welcome as usual from Katie & the girls . The Marry me chicken cooked in a sun dried tomato , paprika & oregano sauce was exquiste & the Scampi was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the talented Chef Wilden. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

10/10 for service- food was excellent- great choice of food on the menu- Try the soup of the day - great flavours- Scones with Jam and Cream were the tops! My family tried all the different types of homemade cakes that were on offer. If you need something really filling then try the Ploughmans Lunch!! The owners and staff were great and made you feel very welcome - so welcome that we returned several times during our weeks holiday. We even placed an ordered for scones to take home with us! If in the area give them a visit - it is well worth it. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR MAKING OUR TRIP EXTRA SPECIAL.

If you decide to come to talybont on usk in February….to enjoy the Brecon Beacons be warned….the Star pub is closed indefinitely and the white hart is closed Mondays and Tuesdays… so you are left with the Royal Oak in pencelli two miles down the road. Otherwise there is no where to have a meal. There was no warm welcome at the pub…which is split in two halves….locals to the left ,intruding tourists to the right. The cook here(not a chef by any standard)produces exceptionally bad microwave food….at stupid prices…..no doubt they will say they only use local produce to support local farmers…..rubbish.my advice…don’t eat here unless you have to…..you can see that I do many reviews and I am always honest…avoid this place.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop

It was so good to be back here. We hadn't passed by since 2018, so it was fantastic to see that it's still going strong. Even though we had already had breakfast, we couldn't resist dropping by for a 'light' brunch. We grabbed a bacon and black pudding sandwich and a coffee, which was as good as we remembered. This would have fuelled us up, Pen y Fan, but alas, we weren't walking that day, so we just got back in the car with full bellies. As friendly as ever and there's something about the food being cooked in the fresh air of the Beacons. We won't be leaving it so long for our next visit!

Not really sure where to start other than say look at all the previous reviews and you will know where I am coming from.My dad was a regimental Sgt Major in the army and i think the landlady has his traits…maybe she is ex forces…the instructions in the pub are like Left right left right…no standing in front of the fire…no weeing in the toilet etc….i think you get my drift. There are no menus…???it’s all on a blackboard as you walk in to the pub on the left…..so if you are a party of four let’s say….you all have to walk up to the board and stand there to read what you want blocking the entrance….its farcical to be honest…..in bold letters….AND NO YOU CAN NOT MIX and Match…so how does the landlady get away with it? The star pub nearby closed, the travelers rest closed…and they are closed Monday and Tuesday…..goto the Royql oak just down the road….but I have to say the food is exceptionally average and exceptionally overpriced..I did however see the landlady get up from her table, leave her wine and clean a table…..staff behind the bar…fantastic.

Lovely location for a delicious Sunday roast. It was my birthday, we were staying nearby and lucked out when we found this place. It was a miserable wet day so can’t speak much for the outside grounds but inside was lovely and welcoming. Staff all very helpful and so accommodating towards our dog and toddler. The food was delicious, very plentiful and we had desserts too that were also tasty. I would not hesitate to recommend or return.
