Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop

We went for Sunday lunch on 31 of October, and although the meal was tasty,as was the dessert, my wife and I were very disappointed with the main course which consisted of 4 small potatoes a small amount of veg, and a very small, and I mean very small portion of meat. I myself had a small slice of beef and a half of a slice, and my wife had a similar amount of chicken which was supposed to be chicken breast which included a bone, for some reason? As we have visited before, i was surprised that the regulars or so it seemed to be, had two or three large slices of beef where I had a very small portion as did my wife, and for the price we payed I'm sorry to say we will not be visiting again.

We stayed in Ty Tawel cottage which is attached to the Travellers Restaurant and run by the same lovely people. The cottage was warm and welcoming with a lovely log burner. Lovely big comfy beds and wonderful en-suites. The host had even left us some eggs, bread, milk and some delicious homemade marmalade. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was excellent. Lovely high quality ingredients, cooked by Doug to perfection. We also had dinner on two evenings which was exceptional. The beef just melted in your mouth. Joy even brought dinner into the cottage for us as one of our party wasn’t well. A big, big thank you to Joy and Doug for looking after us so well. Hopefully we are able to come and stay again.

We had a wonderful meal here and it was a welcome change from the pub grub we’d been having during our long weekend stay. Very well organised, we called ahead, as advised by those that recommended it - it’s a must as they don’t take walk-ins so do book ahead. We were emailed the menu, lots of lovely things to choose from, and pre-ordered. Very relaxed atmosphere, good wine list, wonderful setting and location. Food was delicious and service was lovely too - real local feel to the place. Our dog was made to feel very welcome too, even by the resident cat! Would highly recommend!

Pre-booking is essential as this restaurant can’t cater for many covers, and it may be necessary (particularly at the moment) to pre-order from their menu. Some may find the atmosphere lacking a little but the service is very good, the setting is lovely and the food truly exceptional. The chef is clearly very talented. We’ve eaten in many restaurants in many countries over the years, and this little gem ranks amongst the best.

We wanted a change from traditional pub food and so glad we came across here. Had a fabulous meal in ‘COVID safe’ surroundings and loved the ambience of the restaurant. Service was good and attentive without being too intrusive. Venison was cooked to perfection for hubby and my sea bass was lovely. Accompanying veg was a treat and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend and the lemon polenta cake for desert was exceptionally good. Will definitely be going back when in the area.

We had a meal here not long after it reopened post lockdown. We both really enjoyed our three courses. The sauces, which accompanied the steak and the lamb were amazing. Really enjoyed the frozen tiramisu dessert and polenta cake too! There was plenty of space in restaurant for us and the other couples eating. The service was excellent. Can’t wait to revisit!

We arrived at the Travellers Rest Inn before opening time and went for a short walk to visit my Uncle, upon return I asked what appeared to be the landlady what time they were opening only to find they had blocked our car in. The landlords car was then moved to block the entrance to the car park and the landlord refused to move it. We had to drive down a grass bank to 'escape'. We will not be going there again !!!!

Six of us ate here prior to a concert at the local village hall. We have eaten here many times before but our friends were Travellers "virgins". Everyone was absolutely delighted with their meal and as always, service was excellent. We subsequently had Sunday lunch here again with our daughter and that was also of a first class standard. Doug and Joy have a place and a standard to be proud of!

The restaurant is in a beautiful setting and is clean and bright. We went several weeks ago for Sunday lunch and although tasty, we feel that it does not offer good value for money compared to other restaurants in the area. The vegetables were presented on such tiny platters we could barely believe it, such a shame as it is our favourite part of the meal.

We were invited by friends to stay at the Travellers Rest in Tal-y-bont on Usk. From the moment we arrived to our departure the following day, everything about this gorgeous retreat is first class and great value for money. The rooms are spotlessly clean very well furnished, with lovely views. Later on our friends joined us for dinner The food represents exceptional value and we enjoyed a three-course dinner which was freshly cooked and served by this caring husband and wife team. The wine was superb and reasonably priced After a good night’s sleep in a very comfortable bed our friends joined us for breakfast, which was excellent with so many nice touches which made you really appreciate the whole experience. We left for our journey home mid-morning very impressed and so glad we have found Travellers Rest

It was our last day in the Brecon Beacons and we rang up the Travellers Rest Restaurant on the off chance that they had an opening for dinner that evening. Our hostess said that she would check with the kitchen and call back. Another disappointment, we thought. How wrong! Joy rang back within 10 minutes and gave us a time.We were staying in self catering accommodation only a few miles away and had always wondered what we would find if we turned left at the end of the driveway. Travellers Rest was the reward, easy to find and - oh joy - had ample and free parking.Straight away you could sense the calm of the place as we walked through the delightful garden and into the restaurant. We both had the toasted feta on olive salad for starters. My husband chose the rack of Welsh lamb which he cleaned up to the bone while I had the Bream. Our mains were accompanied by freshly cooked vegetables and delicious potatoes. The wine list has ample choice and we weren't disappointed settling for a glass each. And did I mention the desserts? While her husband is responsible for the rest of the menu, Joy's speciality is dessert and special they are.Revived and restored the Travellers Rest was a wonderful note on which to end our visit to the area.

Visited Travellers Rest whilst on a canal boat trip. We moored up then it's a short walk through the gardens. The weather was very cool and damp but it still looked stunning. The welcome was friendly. It has a log burner which gave it a cosy feel. The choices were plentiful and they cater for dietary requirements. We had a mix of salad, lamb, fish and beef to start and for main. All was delicious, even though my beef wasn't cooked rare, more medium, it was delicious and I didn't leave any. There were perhaps too many vegetables and we couldn't eat them all but they were all really flavoursome. Desserts were also delightful. They also have rooms if you wanted accommodation which I'm sure would also be very comfy.

After a long day's walking, we were delighted to reach this delightful restaurant with rooms. The accommodation was very spacious and well appointed. It was obvious that a great deal of care had been used to fit out the rooms with the best quality furnishing and toiletries. When we went down to dinner we found we were the only customers. It was the sort of menu where everything was of appeal, and when the food arrived it did not disappoint. The seafood starter was great, and this was followed by some perfectly cooked Welsh lamb. What really impressed was the tremendous selection of vegetables, including no less than 3 types of potato. As we were there on a quiet night, I was wary of ordering cheese to follow as I thought it might arrive cold from the fridge. But no, it was a splendid selection, all at the right temperature, and with a generous number of crackers. Our hosts made us very welcome throughout our stay, and I can't wait to return.

We had Sunday lunch here with some friends. We had booked well in advance and had chosen here as we knew the food is reliable and the ambiance is so relaxed and tranquil. The starters chosen ranged from Mushrooms in a creamy sauce to smoked duck and to Goujons of Lemon Sole. We had 2 portions of Pork and 2 of chicken as the roasts. There were ample vegetables and plenty of gravy (without having to ask for more!). Both the ladies had meringue deserts, which they demolished. A fantastic little B&B with the added bonus of an in house restaurant, serving amazing, good value food. We booked last minute for the Bank Holiday weekend in the beautiful Brecon Beacons and were very surprised with this hidden gem in Tallybont Usk, close to the hills. Our room was clean, quiet and homely, breakfast freshly and individually prepared, plenty of it using local produce, even the delicious marmalade was home made by the proprietors friends. Our evening meal, selected from a very decent comprehensive menu was not only very professionally prepared, it was tasty and excellent value for money. So called Gastro pubs in the South East pale into insignificance when compared to the quality and value of the food, and could draw some lessons from the husband and wife team at the Travellers Rest. We were extremely impressed and intend to re-visit on our next excursion to the hills.

I came here with a friend whilst staying in Talybont for a few days walking. It makes a pleasant, if more formal, alternative to a pub meal and not too much more expensive. A very relaxed dining experience in intimate surroundings with attentive service. The food itself was delicious with a good selection of meat and fish, I had pork belly to start and hake for main, both cooked very well with traditional accompaniments. It is the second time I'd been here, a couple of year's ago the last time, and the experience was much the same; a very warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and good food.

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

The Globe hosted a charity event for #bemorefrank (09.11.24) and were the most amazing hosts and venue. Mary, lead the organisation and was open to all of our ideas and accommodating to everything we wanted to achieve that evening. All the staff worked so hard on the night with the vast numbers that came through the door and made the event run as smoothly as can be. Having two floors really allows flexibility plus the outside area (weather allowing) created the best setting for our charity event. Five stars to The Globe!!.
