Visited Peterstone Court for afternoon tea with friends. Staff friendly and attentive. Received a very lovely greeting and welcome from the hotel’s dog on arrival. Sandwiches, cakes and savouries were very nice. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Would visit again, thank you Peterstone Court!

Excellent setting with a backdrop of the beautiful brecons! All staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, the receptionist even moved her car out of a parking space so we could park there as the rest of the spaces were full. We had a Sunday lunch package of a roast dinner at 2pm then later cheese and biscuits and wine, then bed and breakfast, all of which was classy and superb!! Plenty of pretty walks all around the hotel and sheep in the fields. Loved it, thoroughly recommend it! Star staff member I think was called Ali or Abi, blond curly hair in a plait, told us all about her dogs. She was really cheerful and bubbly as well as efficient!!

We are a group of five friends who have been holidaying together for many years. Stumbled across this restaurant whilst searching for somewhere for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. The food was excellent, well presented and piping hot. A young team of staff on duty who were attentive without being overbearing which is a sign they've been well trained. All in all a very nice lunch is a stunning venue.

went for a afternoon tea for two, amount of food pitiful, had a sandwich ham and tomato, cut into 4, half a sausage roll cut into 2, a scotch egg cut into 2, a welsh cake which was more a welsh biscuit the underneath was so overcooked, six small pieces of cake, and a pot of tea, expected scones but staff arrived and took the cake tower away, saying nothing, waited for a while nobody came back, so went to pay at the bar, and stated we had expected to have a scone, when told there were in the kitchen waiting, 2 small and hard scones then brought out to front door area with 2 small pots of jam, no cream or butter. for £45 ,not up to standard, will not return

We were here in January and Sunday Lunch - So delighted so we decided to return only to find it was nothing like what we had back then, I left my meat - They assured my daughter who has dairy allergy, they gave her an option of various meals inclding turkey then one of the staff member comes and says turkey is not availale any more because chef has put 'butter' on it! Really?? Previously table had complementary bred with balsamic vinegar & Olive oil, nothing this time. Place was cold. Such a shame - For that price there are other decent local pubs/resturants who offer much better menus and service.

Our lunch here was average: very standard menu. They took care to ask about allergies and intolerances over the telephone and during ordering but gluten contaminated one of our main courses (onion rings in batter) due to either carelessness, a lack of understanding or a failure in communication. The steaks were ok but over cooked and the Thai fish cake lacked flavour and bite. We sat outside on a lovely day and had to wrestle with faulty umbrellas over the tables. Despite this, we enjoyed our anniversary due to the sheer beauty of the place and the views. Perhaps the presence of an impending wedding limited the menu and the usual care but these are excuses. This place could be so much more …

We had dinner at this restaurant. It was tasty but not extraordinary. Many mistakes were made. We ordered a dry Martini and got a Welsh Martini. This one had nothing to do with Martini was heavy and sweet with a foam layer on top. We asked the waitress for an explanation but she was busy entering our order into the computer. We went to the bar with our Welsh Martini and asked for a regular white Martini with ice. We ordered a bottle of Montepulciano d'abruzzo and a glass of white wine with dinner. The waitress asked chardonnay or sauvignon? Chardonnay please. What did we got? A bottle of Montepulciano d'abruzzo and a bottle of white wine. We ordered the pepper sauce with 2 steaks and 1 steak without sauce. What did we got? 3 steaks with sauce. We ordered 2x cheese as a desert. What did we got? 1 portion of cheese for dessert and 1 double portion of cheese for dessert. When we pointed this out to the waitress, she went to the kitchen to ask for clarification. She came back with the explanation: “Never mind”. When checking the bill, our Welsh Martini that we had returned was stated on it. The explanation was that we had ordered these. We paid without discussion but are not going back.

We have been wanting to return to Peterstone Court ever since we had an anniversary stay 8 years ago. As we were passing on our way back from a mini-break we took a chance and asked if they had a table free for lunch, which they did. When we arrived we were shown through to the bar where we were told that someone would come along to seat us. No one appeared, and the person from the desk came through to apologise, saying that we would be dealt with as soon as possible but to take a seat while we were waiting. Some time later we were given menus and our orders were taken before we were shown to our table. It emerged that they had one waitress on duty who was greeting guests, taking orders, delivering drinks and meals as well as clearing tables so it was no wonder that things seemed a little slow. This didn’t bother me at the time, however, as I was just ecstatic to be back in the beautiful surroundings. All three of us ordered the buttermilk chicken. When it arrived it was on the bone which isn’t a favourite of mine (this wasn’t mentioned on the menu) but everyone else was quite happy. Of the six pieces of chicken (between three people) one of them was visibly bloody. I’m aware that meat near to the bone is darker in colour however this was bright red blood. I didn’t want to make a fuss so waited for the waitress to pop by to check on us. As this didn’t happen, we finished our meals and I mentioned it quietly when she came to clear the table. She took it back to the kitchen and returned to tell us that it was thoroughly cooked and this was quite normal for meat on the bone. We asked for the bill but when, 15 mins later, we hadn’t had anything, my husband went to the bar to see the waitress having a chat with a young man, clearly in no rush to deal with us. She then proceeded to ask my husband if everything was alright with the meal, almost as though she’d completely forgotten about the issues we’d raised. We were billed £56 which, from my calculations means that three soft drinks cost £11 which seems steep. I think our experience was a blip as the reviews for Peterstone Court are so good but I can’t help but feel that, on the whole, we were essentially dismissed by all and ended up having an expensive KFC, which was so disappointing after the wonderful experience we had previously.

Having stayed here twice previously and falling in love with the place, on this visit we only stopped for lunch and were bitterly disappointed. The staff and service was absolutely terrible, which we have noticed to be a common trend across many restaurants post covid. Either they can't get the staff or they are not taking the time to train them properly. Service was very slow although the hotel was not busy, we had food sat getting cold without cutlery, waiters dropping things, and requests taking so long that we just got up and fetched our own serviettes and condiments. The food was also terrible and bread was only available at evening meal, regardless to you paying for it...... We also had to chase the bill. Such a shame as we really loved this place.

My wife and I have eaten at the restaurant on many occasions but not recently because of the Covid lockdown. Previously, our experience at the restaurant has been good and as my brother and sister in law were visiting, we thought it would be nice to take them there for dinner. Immediately, I noticed that I did not recognise any of the staff. Then I was concerned when I read the menu and the poor and limited choice of starters and main courses. Service was prompt but all four of us were disappointed when we received our starters. I had Devilled Kidneys that turned out to be a very small portion of sliced lamb's kidneys in a tasteless sauce on soggy sourdough toast accompanied by a limp piece of lettuce with a brown stem, and the large head of a broad bean plant! For main, I chose "Proper Fish Pie" - or so it was described. This comprised two small, shallow, oval dishes set on a large round plate. One dish held a mess of green beans, mange tout and broccoli. In the other was my fish pie - piped mash potato over a shallow base of small fish pieces in a dry sauce. The pie could only described as a starter portion and was all completely tasteless. I made my views clear to the waitress who said she would tell the chef. My fellow diners were disappointed to varying degrees but the other surprising and odd dish was the "braised brisket". This was presented as a large slab of beef covered in a brown sauce and accompanied by roasted new potatoes. The beef resembled an up-turned loaf cake covered with chocolate. It looked ridiculous and caused some hilarity but was tender and tasty. The starters cost around £8.50 each and the mains £18.50. Unfortunately, this food was no better that traditional pub grub costing half that price. When we paid the lady, who I presumed to be the restaurant manager, I said I was very unhappy with the meal and she said "yes, the waitress told the chef". And that was it! She showed no interest in discussing my complaint or asking if the others enjoyed their meals. That just about sums up the attitude of the establishment. Take it or leave it. We're not interested in your opinion. We just have to put it down to experience and move on. Dear reader, do not make the same mistake.

Recently made use of a dinner bed and breakfast voucher that I had previously purchased as a present for my daughter and her partner. Unfortunately, despite the stay starting well it ended in complete upset and disappointment . The evening meal they reported as absolutely delicious best meal really top draw but ,the breakfast request they listed on their customer sheet beared no resemblance to what they actually received and they were asked to share 2 pastries and I pot of small yogurt, Orange juice and jam also all in short supply and On ration . Attempts to ask for more simply went unheeded. Having waited longer than necessary for additional breakfast items to arrive which subsequently did not appear they decided to check out . At this point they were then presented with a drinks bill for the previous evening that applied to someone else . !! It was only a very small amount of £15 but they did not want to pay for something that they hadn’t received so later requested a reimbursement and were told initially that this would be made to their bank card. Later the response was they were advised that it would now no longer be possible to do this as they had signed the drinks receipt and in doing so had entered into “a contract” which had to be maintained. My daughter explained that they had had a conversation with the member of staff at the time of their meal explaining that they had a voucher and been advised of the drinks allowance based around this . granted they should have checked the amount before signing but good customer service would suggest that if mistakes are mAde they should be helped to be rectified. Equally, one would assume that in terms of “the contract” they should have been presented with the correct information in the first instance . I purchased vouchers at the time they were released as I have been here many times before and enjoyed the experience .Myself and husband were prior to this ,rather looking forward to a stay here. However , We are now rather dreading the forthcoming experience . Verdict when we do go will see it out ensuring we apply scrutiny to the bill , be mindful of any contract law that may be applied to us and , make sure we eat well the night before to address the fact that breakfast is likely to be a very modest affair . Disappointing outcome to what was intended as an exciting family gift and disappointing response by an establishment that used to hold much higher standards.

We've used this restaurant for family events numerous times, but after yesterday’s experience are unlikely to return. We were 15 adults (including some restaurant professionals) and two small children, booked months in advance and having sent in our menu choices some weeks ago. We had arranged to have the smaller dining room to ourselves. We arrived to find four places had been set at a separate table, despite there being space to put the tables together to make a whole-group table. We re-set that ourselves, demonstrating that it could have been done that way from the outset.

Ok so we paid £17.50 a head so it was never going to be the Ritz. The setting is glorious. But sandwiches with cheap and nasty - and stale - bread, with cheap and nasty fillings, broken biscuits and broken pieces shop-bought cake that had been days out of their packets? The scones were nice as was the clotted cream, though jam was served in those ghastly little pots. China was cracked and stained - charming? Um no... Just cracked and stained. Tea was served without milk even though we had requested it. The waiters weren't awful, just clearly untrained students employed on the cheap. We didn't complain as this was supposed to be a treat for friends and we didn't want to make a fuss. However, on leaving one of our guests noted the food hygiene rating that restaurants are obliged to post outside was a 1 - "in need of considerable improvement). Ouch! Embarassment not avoided! I hope this is out of date and that the hygiene improvements have indeed been made! Very sorry to say that we cannot recommend this place to eat for anything other than the glorious views and the very pleasant decor. It could be splendid with a top chef and trained staff.

I had the steak, which was quite pricey at £29, so I am pleased to say I wasn’t disappointed. Not sure why the chips were triple cooked, once would have been enough! There was a great range of ice creams and desserts and the cheese board consisted of a nice range of local cheeses. The service was excellent, so often good food is let down by poor service, but not in this case.

The aged sirloin steak melts in your mouth and is full of flavour. Triple cooked chips are irresistible. My wife had the “fish and chips “ crispy batter covered the moist beautifully cooked fish. Our desert was the chocolate

Confit of lamb was very tender and moist with a lovely rich flavour and accompanying sauce. Rump of lamb was served very pink, again had a lovely flavour. Supplied by our old family butcher. Came with dauphinois and leek potatoes, perfectly roast pumpkin, Cavolo Nero and rosemary jus. Very enjoyable.

We had dinner as part of our package staying at the Peterstone Court Hotel. The food quality, preparation and presentation was superb and unlike some restaurants, which focus on quality at the expense of quantity, we did not walk away feeling hungry.

We came here last night as a party of 5 to complete my mother's 80th birthday celebrations. This is such a beautiful place. As you walk in you and are met with the glorious smell of real wood fires. The lounge areas are just so relaxing. I could have happily curled up by the fire for the entire evening, but there was such a selection of wonderful food, I decided it would be silly not to indulge! The smoked haddock croquettes were so delicious, and the duck bang bang was also apparently lovely, not that I was offered a taste, although I personally thought it a bit odd that it was served cold and the noodles were crispy, like just out of the packet. Didn't seem to bother the 2 people who ordered it though. The main courses were equally scrumptious. The slow cooked lamb was demolished (didn't get to try that either), the hake looked amazing as did the lemon sole. I had the pasta with seafood. It was a little too vinegary for me, but that's my fault, nothing wrong with meal. We all had desserts, well why not?! Having enjoyed the first 2 courses, we didn't want to miss out on the wonderful selection available. The sticky toffee pudding needed more toffee or something to make the actual portion less dry. This is according to my sister who is a bit of a connoisseur of sticky toffee pudding! The crumble was delicious, apparently, as was the lemon sorbet. I had the cheese and biscuits with a glass of port. Small portion but perfect for me. The service from all the staff was excellent, they brought my mother a complimentary glass of wine as it was her birthday. She's quite liking being 80!!! This is an excellent establishment with excellent staff. My main complaint is that my family clearly don't like sharing their food, but not really sure the staff have any control over this! Will try to stay the night when I go there next time, just to make the most of the experience.

The choice was excellent and almost too much. We enjoyed the bar snacks earlier in the day and then a three course evening meal. The food was good with reasonable portions. Starter was probably the best (Thai pork and soup). My main was a little small (duo of duck), but really nicely done. Enjoyed a desert as well even if they had run out of ice cream.

We stayed one night at the Peterstone and had dinner in its dining room. The room is lovely. There is an excellent selection to choose from. The service was friendly and first class. We travel a lot and eat entirely too much and this restaurant is about as good as one gets.

We recently had a family 60th birthday celebration lunch for eleven people and Peterstone Court really did us proud. We advised them in advance that our party included a number of vegetarians and the kitchen spontaneously offered additional vegetarian options. They managed to cope very well with some "faddy" eaters (including a vegetarian who does not like that many vegetables!). The food was wonderful (especially the creamed leaks) as was the service. We were thoroughly well looked after.

Attended a dinner with about 40 people my dietary requirements were given and food was just disappointing - no alternative to the dessert. Main course was vegetarian alternative then when I changed to chicken it was covered in salt.

We were fortunate enough to be invited to a wedding ceremony and subsequent wedding breakfast and evening party. The hotel is lovely with lots of different rooms to sit and socialise with other guests. The terraces at the rear have fabulous views across to the Pen y Fan saddle. The food was truly wonderful, each course was enjoyed by everyone. I would definitely visit again.

Stopped by on a road trip in the Beacons looking for a dog friendly place for a light lunch and refreshment. Opted for the Welsh Rarebit, one with bacon and one without, food arrived quickly was well presented and tasted lovely. We couldn't have been made more welcome by the staff and the dog had lots of attention and a clean water bowl. Dogs are welcome in the library, bar and the conservatory area. The hotel is a popular wedding venue so check out if there is a wedding on before you visit !

We have come to Peterstone court on numerous occasions as a special treat for ourselves. We attended on Saturday for a 7:30 booking for dinner and had requested a table on the terrace. As soon as we arrived we were immediately put off, as we are shown to our table there are other patrons surrounding our table all smoking and have obviously been drinking all day. We wondered what they were all looking at, when we did see we were extremely uncomfortable by the fact that there were 2 men in there underwear in the swimming pool. This was supposed to be our view for the evening. As you can imagined this instantly put us off and set a bad tone for the evening. No one from the staff had the for thought to maybe ask these people to at least move away from our table so we could sit down and staff thought it funny that were 2 drunken men in the swimming pool in there underwear. We sat down and were given our menus 2 minutes later we were asked for a drinks order and had to request a wine list. After choosing a very special bottle of red the bottle was opened at the bar away from us and not presented at the table. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for several years I have never opened a bottle away from a table and made a point of expressing my surprise that this had been done especially as PeterStone Court is supposed to be a high dinning experience. Again this carried on the tone for the evening. We ordered our food stating that my mother is a vegetarian so could she just have a halumi salad as a main, very simple, it was reiterated a few times that she eats nothing with eyes. Starters arrived, my fathers terrine was inedible the only highlight he said was the homemade piccalilli which was excellent. I had ordered the tomato mozzarella Mille Feuille which sounded very intriguing what I got was a tomato and mozzarella salad.Mains arrived and my mother received a smoked salmon salad which we had to send back and wait for her to have a vegetarian salad made up, she said that once it did come it was excillent. Our luxury fish pies were disappointing although tasty, I don't think you should state you have put scallops in your fish pie when in fact you have just put the scallop tail in there which is the bit you cut off and don't serve. Pudding was a surprise my dad ordered a strawberry eat and mess and got a blueberry and blackberrie eat and mess, it was o.k but if there is a menu change I think you should inform your customer. My lemon tart was excellent however and the sticky toffee although having to request the ice-cream a second time was also tasty. We will come back and try you again as we have had previous experiences that have been good but we were all disappointed with this visit especially when you are spending that kind of money you expect it to be faultless. We will also check if there is a wedding in future as we will not be having a dinner at the same time.

Our Sunday lunch at Peterstone Court lived up to expectation. The restaurant was nicely busy, giving it a warm atmosphere but wasn't overly busy. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive and the service was very good. Our starters included a tomato soup, pulled pork terrine and buffalo mozzarella with peas and broad beans. We all enjoyed these and along with the home-made bread, they really did provide a good start to our meal. Traditional lunch choices of roast beef and roast pork were much enjoyed as was the roast hake. The accompanying vegetables were piping hot and included a range of choices - cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, roasted vegetables, summer greens with peas and beans. We ended our meals with delicious pudding choices - Eton Mess, Chocolate Brownie and raspberry sorbet. A coffee, enjoyed in the afternoon sunshine on the terrace, where we had wonderful views of Pen-y-Fan really topped our meal off perfectly.

An absolutely wonderful hotel , restaurant and pub - in the ownership of a lovely family. Had a brilliant 2 night stay - room was extremely comfortable- with pleasant furnishings and amazing attention to detail . Had many favourable meals ( breakfasts and dinner) in the restaurant - a nicely varied menu to suit all . The food and drinks were expertly prepared and served - including a lot of flavoursome local produce . Bar had a great ambiance and atmosphere - a proper Mid Wales pub central to the community. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - very many thanks to all concerned: Jenny and Steve 😊🏴🍷
