Very friendly owner, great service and delicious (fresh) home baking. It’s the kind of place you can go by yourself but wouldn’t feel alone…….thanks for all the effort you put in to running a clean welcoming place to visit. Kenny and I thoroughly enjoyed our (carry out) sandwich and cakes yesterday …….thanks again!
I work with Scotrail and rarely down Milngavie during the day, today I seen the bar open and caught food before taking the train back out and oh my days, best food I've had in a long time while out working.
I stayed for one night only - having heard about this place, and pounced on the single slot when I saw it. It's worth the drive up from Glasgow and ferry from Mallaig to get here even for one night: my room was spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable, with a seating area with a view of the amazing beach. The owner Sue is a warm, charming host and an absolutely amazing cook, providing a fantastic three-course dinner while sloshing wine into glasses and encouraging guests and other diners to relax and interact. Breakfast is awesome, as the Americans say. I hired a bike and sweated up (then down) the hill to get here, but don't be put off by that - the island taxi/minibus is always on-hand, and they do excellent tea and cakes at their base nearly next door - but that's another story.
I had been recommended this place ,,about 11 years ago......FINALLY got round to trying it after far too long. Ordered the 'Dragons fire' Welsh Chicken and Shrimp Curry, and can honestly say it's one of,if not THE best I've ever eaten (I've had a lot!). Definitely on the spicier side, but I was warned, but for me,it was perfect. My work buddy got the brisket fries and also agreed, they were superb. Absolutely delicious food, wish I had a bigger stomach to try more, but I'll be making plenty more trips to here.....it definitely lives up to the hype! 🏆
The cakes were so beautiful and tasty. I've never tasted cakes so nice and their hot drink selection is amazing. They should expand and get a bigger place!
You need to find your way through a chemist's shop and then upstairs - but it is worth it! We stopped for the soup and sandwich deal; a bowl of hot home-made soup, thick with lentils and chunks of bacon and a chicken mayo sandwich stuffed full and with salad and crisps. Delicious and a bargain.
I had an amazing root veg and chestnut pie for my tea from GK. It was a feast of flavours and could have fed two people.....Highly recommended ***** I’m an exceedingly happy old Hector
Just had a fantastic breakfast delivered from here.
Food was fresh, warm and quick delivery.
Honestly one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. 10/10
