I’ve travelled the world and eaten ice cream everywhere. Lived in Paris. Regular visitor to Italy. Grew up in Glasgow eating the stuff all the time - in cafés, in restaurants, out of vans in the street with raspberry sauce. Spent a month in the USA making a film about the rivalry between Haägen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s. Consumed tons of their products on that trip. Attended a seminar in Philadelphia with Arun Kilara, the most famous correspondence course ice cream making instructor - a Professor, no less - in America. I understand ice cream on a granular, scientific level, and on an emotional one. And no ice cream anywhere in the world (I’m looking at you, Luca’s) comes even close to the magical stuff you get at Cones & Candies.

Been here a couple of time for ice cream. The staff are super friendly and efficient, even on the hottest day of the year! My go to is the custard cream flavour. It’s got little bits of biscuit in the ice cream and is fantastic. Definitely splash out and get the waffle cone, it’s worth it. Unlike others have said I think the price is reasonable. You’ll pay way more in the city centre for nowhere near as nice ice cream.

Cones and Candies is a well stocked, albeit expensive, sweetie shop, but it's the Taylors of Biggar ice cream that's the runaway star of the show. It comes in various flavours, which suits the kids, but it's the plain old vanilla that has to steal the show. It's fantastic. In fact it's so good I've never even tried anything else! If you're in Biggar you've got to try it. If you're not in Biggar you should go there and then you can try it.

We stopped for an ice cream it’s made by Taylor’s !! The shop was well stocked with ices of a variety of flavours , tubs to take away for your freezer & sweeties of all sorts to buy in the old fashioned sweetie jars . We ordered a cone with a chocolat & a vanilla scoop & a flake & the other was a chocolat dipped cone with a single scoop of ginger ice cream . Neither of us enjoyed the ice cream rather tasteless I’m afraid to say so not going there again. Also disappointed with the girl serving who serves the ice creams & takes the money . She used a napkin to cover & hold the cone only after she had scooped the ice cream in ... not hygienic enough for us ... you need to check the heath & hygiene folks. Not satisfied customers & will not be returning there again.

When I saw so many people eating ice creams at Biggar I knew there must have been a very good ice creamery. I saw people on seats everywhere in Biggar, firstly in 2016, enjoying their cones. I have just enjoyed more ice creams in 2019. Great place to visit. The village and its people are also delightful. Hidden gems to be discovered and enjoyed!

Since the ice cream shop has been listed I can easily add to the compliments paid and confirm that their Taylors of Biggar ice cream is delicious and comes in several different varieties - my personal favourite being rum & raisin. They also stock a large variety of sweets and have their own fantastic handmade chocolates too - a treat as a gift to friends and family and I'm ever hopeful it will be reciprocated one of these days! In warmer weather in particular you will see the queue forming outside their door.
