My husband and I had an evening meal at The Smithy with a couple of friends on Saturday evening. The meal was excellent, as was the welcome and the service. The menu was imaginative and the atmosphere was very good. We would certainly eat there again if in the area and would thoroughly recommend it.

Great cafe in a rural spot. As we were a group of 16 hungry cyclists and hadnt received a warm welcome at one cafe, we rang ahead to be told, yes, they could accommodate us. When we arrived 25 minutes later, the owner had made a victoria sponge! The scones were the best we've had so far.

Excellent filled rolls, can highly recommend the roasted chicken with home made coleslaw on brown along with the cheese savoury with salad on brown. Other fillings looked fresh and appealing. Staff were good and prices very reasonable. Will be back!

Just had to write another review for this delightful place! No Christmas cakes this year understandably but millionaires shortbread as delicious as always. Bought yet another small water colour, havenโt quite got them all yet!

I was recommended this place by a birdwatcher in the area. I had the Chicken Achari, and think it's one of the best takeaway curry's I've ever had. Really fresh and tasty. Only downsides are they don't open Monday and Tuesday, and because there so popular, order times are quite long. Would definitely use again if in the area.

Found this lovely place about 4 years ago with fantastic food and I havenโt been able to find a place as good as this one. The staff are friendly, attentive including the cook (Jemma). Another thing I enjoy about brambles cafe is that the place is dog friendly meaning as a dog lover myself seeing puppy dogs and getting to pet some of them makes it that much better. It is a very relaxing place surrounded by nature and animals. There is different types of ducks and chickens. You can also buy homemade jam and fresh eggs and much more from the stand thatโs is run by the owners of the house .

We stayed one night before driving to Cairnryan to catch ferry. The hotel was excellent from friendly staff, great evening meal, bedroom and breakfast. The bed was so comfortable. Highly recommended this hotel for a few nights stay.

One of the best little tea rooms I've been to. Coffee & delicious cake. The lady who owns it is lovely , very chatty. Added bonus, there is a selection of small antiques for sale. I went back the following day for 1 thing & bought 6 things as couldn't make my mind up . Lots of lovely things to browse through. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

authentic Italian restaurant with lots of charm & traditional vibes. The early bird 2 course menu is excellent value for money at ยฃ13.50 pp with all the classic dishes on. We opted for the regular menu, i had the calamari fritters & sea bass with mushroom ravioli ( was lobster on menu but they had run out). The fish was cooked to perfection & the ravioli was amazing in the red pepper sauce. My partner had panzenolle ( probably spelt that wrong but it was pieces of pizza dough with a garlic mayo dip ) & steak diane. He said the steak was one of the best he had, very tender. The restaurant was full, which apparently it is mostly, good atmosphere & lots of attentive staff. very good๐

My wife and i enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the Abbey Cottage today. The afternoon tea consisted of freshly made sandwiches of your choice , fruit or plain scone with clotted cream and jam and a choice of different sponge cakes along with a pot of tea. It may be advisable to book the afternoon tea in advance as we did. The Abbey Cottage has all the best attributes of a traditional tea room The staff were welcoming , conversational and friendly. The premises were very clean. The food itself was a treat. There is a convenient car park behind the cottage which also serves as the car park for the ruin of Sweetheart Abbey which is next to the cottage. In addition to the tearoom the cottage also has a shop selling locally produced goods. The Abbey cottage is very much worth visiting if you are in the area.

A nice small cafe that offers a limited but adequate menu. Limited seating inside but they have outside tables to. Dogs are allowed inside at the discretion of the owners which I think is governed by how many are already in. The food was very nice but you may have to wait at busy times and they do run out of things especially at busy periods. Did not notice any gluten free choice but I may be wrong. All in all a very nice cafe with a small shop attached.

Stayed at Dalbeattie for a couple of days and decided to treat ourselves to a Chinese Takeaway from Sea Horse. The service was very prompt and the food was absolutely excellent and portions huge. (And so well priced as well!) I genuinely do not understand some of the poor reviews. This was the BEST chinese takeaway food we have had in a long time. ๐๐๐๐๐๐
