2family members were violently ill after having the scallops contacted establishment and they did not accept any responsibility, never even offered a refund . Avoid at all costs

What a place I was in Whiskey Heaven, my girlfriend was in Gin heaven I sampled some, in my price range drams, from the magnificent Highland Park distillery, I was not disappointed The bar was tastefully decorated with various bottles of whiskey in cabinets adorning the walls and a large display in the rear bar Barman seemed to know his stuff and was very helpful Didn't see much Gin on display, although I did have my Whiskey goggles on, but my girlfriend was very happy with the various tastes available

Coffee was nice but there was a member of staff who was exceptionally rude, with extremely poor customer service. She knew we were waiting, we even made eye contact twice as she proceed to then potter around doing nothing whilst we waited, and a queue of others formed behind us. Eventually the poor barista who was already rushed off of his feet took everyone’s orders whilst this member of staff chatted to people in the kitchen and drank water.

The food we had today was of mixed quality and the price structure seems a bit odd - the 'panini' was overpriced and burnt and tasted more like a toasted roll, the toastie was good and the cakes were nice quality. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful whereas some of the others need to work on their customer service skills a little bit. We normally enjoy going here, so I might write this off to being a bad day! I will also read the menu a bit more carefully next time as some items definitely seem to represent much better value for money than others!

It has been two years since I last visited this takeaway, and I've yet to find a chip shop that can do as good a fish and chips as the Willows. Large portions of fish with crispy batter cooked to perfection. There is a large menu of all the chip shop favourites plus a range of Chinese food. Prices were on par with other Kirkwall takeaways, and my telephone order was ready at the agreed pick up time. The member of staff who attended to me was friendly. The only things to watch out for are the location. Not too far from the town centre but could be tricky to find for a non local. Also cash only at this takeaway

Very pleasant ambience, delicious food, at reasonable prices. I liked the soup, toasties, coffee and bagels. The friendly staff made my lunch memorable and a pleasure.

Very disappointing and an experience I will not be repeating. My friend was rudely told the soup wasn't ready, so she settled for a ham sandwich, the ham was razor thin and hardly covered the bread. I asked for a toasted panni and was told it takes 15 mins to heat up the machine, so I settled for a coffee and a doughnut. The cafe was not busy yet the order took over 15 mins to reach the table. The doughnut was quite stale and I left most of it!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. It's not at the harbour front, but near the cathedral. We ate the best steak in kirkwall, perfectly cooked (rare as we ordered), good whisky and peppercorn sauce. The chips are great as well. As a starter try the smoked fish plate.

There was no greeting when we arrived and the staff just stared at us looking disengaged. So we double-checked that they were still serving and were told "yes". No indication to show us to a table so we chose one for ourselves. Ordered a tea, a black americano and a fruit scone. The order arrived promptly but the americano was dumped onto the table and slopped into the saucer; no apology, no offer of a napkin; no taking the americano away to get a clean saucer. And, there was no milk for the tea. We eventually picked up a napkin from the counter and ultimately asked for some milk for the tea. The milk arrived and I watch the waitress return to a colleague and say something which seemed to be derogatory towards us; tossing her head dismissively. When she realised I had seen her do this, she tilted her head to one side and said to noone in particular that she had something in her ear. The tea was nice. Not a tea bag but leaves in a diffuser. The scone had a good flavour but was dry as if it were two or three days old. The coffee was adequate. The staff seemed totally inexperienced. No warmth towards customers, indeed, we felt unwelcomed. Training desperately needed in customer care and a culture of caring about the service and product needs to be instilled. Needless to say we will not be back - ever.
