The best restaurants in Argyll & Bute Central Scotland

Very convenient walk from the marina and we came here 3 times over the course of a week or so, whilst sailing from Oban. Nothing fancy, but good piping hot food in the upper bar. Downstairs on a Thursday, local bands play which are very popular. Met loads of tourists and had some very interesting conversations!

Chicken in the chicken curry was so hard you could throw it off the wall and it would have bounced back disappointed

Quite place to chill and refresh, had a lovely weekend, staff were outstanding and couldn’t do enough for their customers. Breakfast was freshly made to order. Lovely coffee, fresh juices and a selection of cheeses, hams, pastries, fruit, cereals. Dinner on the first night was ok, dinner on the second night was excellent. The rooms, while a bit out of date, were spotless. Bed and pillows were excellent and much better some places were been. The views are amazing and come the summer, once the good weather comes around, it will be beautiful to sit outside. We went for a lovely walk along the river to the campsite and back - after taking pictures of the deer that came over to visit.

Good coffee to take away. A significant step up from ☆bucks. Busy place, so I guess a lot of people think the same.

Great service, some items off the menu not available however there was plenty of choice. Staff very polite and helpful and friendly.

Decided to visit this restaurant for a bit of lunch. I’ve been to quite a few Indian restaurants before and this one was quite dissatisfying. The food was below average 😬I had ordered, Starters - Chicken Pakora which was very hard to chew. Mains - Lamb Bhuna which was hardly spicy with very few meat. (You could cook it better yourself at home) The portions were quite small as well. Only thing was that it had quick turnaround time because no one else was there. So I don’t how it will fare if gets busy.

Room had a beautiful view but otherwise or was run down, not as clean as I would like with stains on mattress, sheets and pillow. Staff was friendly.

Food reasonably good but almost no taste. Service very, very unfriendly, extremely stressed. You feel zero welcome. Here, hospitality insists on service as quickly as possible in order to get rid of the guests. In the end the bill came with no requirements and even added extra for what wasn't consumed! Not recommended :)

Got a few ice creams today and they were absolutely lovely! Was very busy but the line went in quickly, the staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend👍🏼

Great food good value no bar but was told I could take my own in

Ordered online at 16.57pm. Called shop at 18.30pm to enquire where my order was,to be abruptly told order left the shop! 18.45pm order arrived. Was stone cold! To point the cheese wasn't even melted on the chips! The pakora was cold and dry. It was like eating plastic toothpicks! The meat feast calzone didn't disappoint! That was just as cold and as disgusting as the rest of the meal! Full marks on the rankometer! Chilligrillz. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Went for lunch. Really warm welcome and just got ourselves a table as it was reasonably busy (it was a beautiful day). Great homemade soup and sandwiches and tea that wasn't wishy-washy. Smashing selection of cakes available. Have to hand it to the staff for the lovely atmosphere and to the site for the brilliant views! Will be back.

Just been back in the black bull Rothsey. 10of us ,first time since new owners.We were made to feel very welcome.You can now take your dog in which was great for us.Will definitely be calling in again.
