Drinks were extremely pricey. £41 for a pint of lager, 2 X single gin and tonics and 1 x pint of orange and lemonade! I love in London and you wouldn't pay that price!! Shocking!

A Charming Gem in Oban Our stay at this wonderful old-style hotel was nothing short of enchanting. From the moment we arrived, the thoughtful staff made us feel right at home, and the breathtaking views added to the magic of the experience. The charm of the hotel was evident in every detail, from the classic key that opened the door to our quaint and cozy room to the warm, inviting atmosphere throughout. The bar was a true highlight—sipping an evening drink there made me feel like a proper gentleman, surrounded by timeless elegance. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisite, beautifully presented with a touch of sophistication that elevated each meal. The hotel’s location is also ideal, just a short 10-minute walk from the lively heart of Oban. The staff were more than happy to share recommendations, each delivered with a genuine smile and welcoming attitude. Without a doubt, this stay was one of the most memorable parts of our Scotland tour, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a blend of charm, comfort, and outstanding hospitality.

Great location overlooking the sea, and 10 minutes from the centre of Oban. The food was varied and well prepared, and the breakfast menu was one of the best I've seen. The hotel even had the facility to charge electric cars, what a great idea. We will be back again

Recently stayed here an was so looking forward to staying in 4 star hotel. How disappointed I was - 4 star it certainly is not. The front of the hotel which overlooks the bay is preferred for people with dogs. Someone came in at breakfast into restraunt and asked if they could have breakfast at front overlooking water an was told no this was for dog owners only. Our room was at back of building which is accessed via 3 steps along corridor with heavily stained carpet up a further 4 steps then another 6 and this only to get to the lift. Room sub standard chipped paint on wadrobe door and paintwork, net curtains ripped, laundered white bedding very heavily creased (have stayed in better laundered sheets in Premier Inn) window frames in the putty area is black. Bathroom was fine. Food was lovely no complaints. Staff are friendly however it is bear minimum Hello what food can I get you etc same at bar. Was 1 friendlier waiter who was Scottish and made sure we were fine and chatted. On check out after a couple of days stay was not even asked if we enjoyed it. Biggest bug bear was parking 2 disabled bays and 2 electric bays at front, to the back room for possibly 4 small cars. The rest had to go up side street behind cathedral an walk back which is fine but coming back in the dark there are no lights in parking area. Definitely will not be back.

10/5. The place is so cosy and warm and the staff truly go out of their way for you. I had a medical issue and the staff did more for me than I’ve ever experienced at a hotel, I’m honestly still gobsmacked at how something so difficult for me was also important to them. They sent up things to the room without hesitation and was so genuinely attentive that I’m certain it played a huge part in my recovery (as care always does!). I am also an allergic asthmatic and requested a pet free and feather-free room which in all of my years in the UK has never fully been complied with, even in 5-star hotels. All of this was already sorted on arrival. Our three night stay is now like a little gem in my mind and I plan to return time and time again. It honestly sort of felt like a much smaller, family owned establishment. Will recommend this place to everyone I know. From sitting in the front in the sun-drenched conservatory drinking tea to returning back to its comforting warmth after an excursion to the isles, this place is the second hotel in Europe that I now would consider myself loyal to. THANK YOU!

Fantastic staff, they weren't even fazed by a power cut. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the hotel residents where warm, fed and safe. Special mention to all staff especially Frank, and Erin at the Spa. Loved my foot treatment, went home feeling as if I had new feet! We will never forget The Oban Bay Hotel and celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary there!

Arrived at the hotel on Thursday evening, lukewarm reception, the hotel I may add was not so lukewarm but cold, we were expecting to be having dinner in the grill room as advertised, instead we were given a table in the conservatory which was very cold ,we asked to be seated elsewhere, we were given table in the bar area that wasn't much better heat wise. The food we received was on a par with Wetherspoons ,we ordered drinks from the bar, there are no prices for drinks on the list given to us. The room we booked was a deluxe room , the bed and bedding were of a good standard, but the room was small and tired, and needed some TLC, facilities were poor, the bog standard tea and instant coffee and a couple of caramel wafer biscuits, the windows were very draughty and made the room cold even though you could turn up the radiator. On the second day, the storm hit us and we had a powercut, the hotels contingency plans came in to action, this was emergency lighting which was OK in the reception and hallways ,but very poor in the rooms "pitch black" we had to ask for a torch as our phone torches were running down our phones. The staff did their best under the circumstances, but the emergency lighting in the grill room was pityfull, one led light to illuminate grill room, we were given 2 small ceaser salads for dinner due to no power, this was at a cost of £30 per person. The crackling fire was electric. I don't know if the crackling was from the wiring or a sound effect, we'll never know as it was not working, most of the guests were wearing winter coats and hats in the hotels conservatory area. All in all a cold miserable expensive 2 days which we won't be repeating.

Don’t understand the negative reviews. Stayed 3 nights. The third was because of storm Eowyn. Power was lost at 4pm on the Friday, didn’t come back on until 7:30am the next day. This place and especially the staff were amazing on all counts and all days of our stay. No matter the conditions. Hotel built in 1902, so don’t be so quick to judge the “faults” others have pointed out. That’s part of its charm. Highly recommend and would 100% stay here again. Thank you to all the team!

The service was the worse thing at this hotel. From reception to bar, to restaurant, breakfast and all. Everyone took too long, service so poor and they kept pushing us to the bar for meals even though there were plenty of tables in the restaurant. Never seen worse service in the hotel

Myself and my partner stayed for one night on a spa package and I wish the experience hadn’t been ruined otherwise it would have been lovely. The spa package we chose was a great deal for what was included. However, we were told it was a private experience so did not expect to see the cctv footage of the hot tub to be visible from both reception and the restaurant! We could visibly see the cameras from the hot tub and outdoor area but had not seen/or been told that they were on a tv for anyone to see. After relaying this information to the hotel we got an effortless attempt to apologise. We stayed here in mid August 2024 so really hope that this has been changed by now. Other than that the hotel was lovely. The room was cosy and reflected the area it was in. We ordered room service which was good and the staff were helpful and kind (apart from not notifying us about the camera). The breakfast had a lot to offer and the food was nice, however this was spoilt by the fact I could see the cctv footage from my seat and I knew I was in there the night before being broadcast. Once again we hope these changes have been made to respect people’s privacy. Otherwise this review would have been much better.

It was wonderful! We were booked at another hotel that was so run down that we refused to even stay there. We asked Oban Bay Hotel for a room but they were full. The receptionist, Abby, checked every hotel in the area for us but everything was booked. The manager, Marc, gave us a room that had been set aside for an employee and moved him to the hostel. Marc then had a table set for us for dinner and brought us each a flute of champagne on the house! Frank, our waiter, was so very sweet and attentive as well. Then, Oliver, an apprentice, made sure our bags were put in our room and that we had everything we needed. We felt like royalty and are so grateful. The hotel and the rooms are lovely. The food top rate. You really can’t go wrong if you stay here!

We had a thermal spa experience. It was nice. 90 minutes of heat and the odd cold shower,l/plunge. I enjoyed the hot tub in the early autumn rain. The steamroom felt a bit weird with its white plastic moulded seats. But the sauna was more traditional. The hot tub was the highlight though. It was a nice view of the bay, once you looked pass the scabby looking shrubs in planters that help divide you from the bars smoking smoking area.

The worst hotel I’ve ever set foot in! I checked in got to the room and checked out. What a dump! As it appears all their group of hotels are if you look at their reviews. On the plus side, the staff were helpful and friendly, it’s not their fault the property is so poor and its location was good. The room was in a row of properties at the back of the hotel which resembled retirement bungalows. The decor was appalling. And I have never seen so many no parking signs at a venue in my life. So many, there is no where left to park! Pricing versus quantity is a farce. I would rather have slept in the car.

Very nice hotel, spotlessly clean. Recently renovated by the look of it. Nice drinks in the bar. Very pleasant staff. We didn't have a meal in the restaurant but we found the breakfast a bit disappointing, too many menu items and not well executed. Fewer items available but done to a higher standard would be preferable. If the breakfast was improved this would be a 5 star review.

This hotel is enchanting! It’s a staple in Oban for a reason. From the decor, the food, to the attention to details; everything is just spectacular. Brian, at the front desk, went above and beyond to help us get a good spa appointment. While Bea Ortiz, at the restaurant, was on point and made sure our 20+ person group is taken care of. Thank you for elevating our trip and giving us a taste of Oban. PS:The food at the restaurant is to die for!!!

We had a two night stay here with friends. Rooms are comfortable with everything needed for a short stay. Housekeepers, who we met on the landing, were very pleasant and courteous. They also did a good job! Reception staff helpful and pleasant. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Think it's locally sourced and excellent quality. Staff in the restaurant are first class. 5 stars to the kitchen staff and the front of house. Although there is parking available at the hotel, it's rather tight if you own a larger sized car. I would return here!!

I booked this hotel and their after dark spa package for me and my partner for our 10 year anniversary. The whole process from enquiry to booking and everything in between was perfect. Only issue was trying to get through on the phone was a bit of a pain. I then got a bit worried on reading some reviews and started to panic . I had no need. On arrival the hotel has plenty of parking and is easy to find . The place has a lovely feel to it and we where greated as soon as we walked in. Our room was lovely and came with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of prosecco ( score ! Both where amazing ) We both had tailored spa treatments from Kimberly who couldn't have been better. She was very knowledgeable helpful and kind and was brilliant at her job . Next up was our thermal experience it was beautiful Scottish weather...ie pissing it down but as Kim said " you're going to get wet anyway" and she was right . We sat in the toasty hot tub while the wind and rain kept going lol ( I now have the cold but it was worth it) Dinner was fantastic and again staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful Bed was comfortable if not a little soft for me but I had a decent night's sleep so can't ask for more. Breakfast was great and check out was easy. Would thoroughly recommend and would defo consider going back again Thanks everyone!

Lovely hotel in a good location, rooms a decent size with decent beds, does not accept cash at the bar and when you don't have a card to hand isn't helpful, mainly pleasant staff but 1 in particular abrupt and not pleasant, poor parking facilities on site. Approx 7 parking spaces plus 2 disabled and for some reason 2 electric only parking spaces
