Were only there to drink. There was hot chocolate. This is highly recommended. Lots of choice of beer and coffee.

First time visiting here and I can't fault it service great all friendly ordered a curry chicken tikka masala my hubby had quatro staglioni pizza food was amazing we then shared a strawberry cheesecake was perfect so tasty and well presented just spent 4 days in oban we visit a few times a year will highly recommend this place and will surely be back thank you

Came at 11:51, ordered tea and coffee. Tea cup wasn’t clean and got told to share milk between drinks

Avoid this place at all cost! The service is horrible, the pizza is no better and the pasta tasted like it came out of a can. Service was bad clearly from the top down. Too many other nice places to eat!

Don’t come here if you’re expecting good pizza. The dough was painfully average and I ordered a Margarita with ham and got charged a Tropicana without tomatoes. 👎🏻 The staff was also very unfriendly and even called me ‘bro’ at one point in the conversation.

Just had a quick pizza. The pizza was tasty, with a bit of a boring topping (the godfather), but that's a matter of taste. Friendly and helpful staff, delicious wine and coffee more than made up for it. I just don't understand why there are so many TV screens (fortunately without sound). Furthermore, attractively decorated with a nice choice of music.

It's a place to eat but not much more, both service and food is below average. Not to expensive and clean. Actually when we were about to pay, they mixed up the bongs

First thing is the portions are HUGE. Food needed a bit of salt and mussels ware so fresh and big, while eating them I felt like I'm in the sea. Reasonable price for what you get and interior is so nice, I enjoyed every minute while being inside.

Looking for a place to eat in Oban, we stopped in to this unassuming bar for lunch. The inside was nice with comfortable seating. The waiter was very sweet and the lunch specials were surprisingly inexpensive. The food was quite delicious! I highly recommend the baked potato with chicken tikka and the salted carmel chocolate cake. Our 2 entrees and 1 dessert came to under £20!

Boring, bad service , blend food

We had a great time at Bar Rio. The staff were all very attentive and so friendly. We ordered pizza and salmon and all the meals were lovely. The dessert was even better!

Awful. Had sandwiches, egg mayo which tasted like it was mayo less, felt like it was egg and water. The cheese and ham sandwich was dry and cheese was rubbery. Sauce in carbonara again watery and bland. I can see why it was empty when we walked in. Will never go here again.

No accessible toilet for disabled people. My daughter who uses crutches had to go to the nearest public toilet. We asked for a small soup, sandwich and glass of water for a 4 year old. They couldn't do that, only adult size. 3 couples who came in after us were served first. Will not be back.

The burger tasted like the one from the canteen. The steak tasted like it was frozen, the salad definitely came out of a plastic bag. The pina colada stung the tongue which is not a good sign... we left hoping not to be sick. The waitress is not very pleasant but the staff is attentive enough. The room is pleasant. We just visited this nice restaurant/bar this afternoon. They served a very delicious seafood pasta (I think the name is rock pasta), and I love it. The seafood is fresh and the garlic tomato sauce is very yummy. You also should try their hot chocolate, I'm not a fan of whipped cream but I love it here, so light not like usual heavy cream for cake. Staffs are so amazing and frindly. However, I do not like the soup, taste like curry with lots of veggies. The location is next to tourist information, must visit this place when visiting Oban.

We came here 1st time on Saturday the 12th of August very busy and we order soup of the day plus a few slice of bread & tea while we there we booked for table for 2 for 7.30 Unknown to me my partner he told them it was my 70th birthday and to have a special chosen table of which they did us proud they had a 70th birthday banner across the table and a hallium balloon with 70 on it they serve us really well at the end of the last meal we order a royal cheese cake had a happy birthday candle on it we had photos taken it was best evening every just as well we reserved our table because some group of people had to wait so long for it is a very busy place and nice staff as well 💖 😊 so it best to reserved your table for night time.

Very nicely presented restaurant. The Indian chicken curry tasted very good, the salami pizza was a bit weak. I would eat here again.

We think our order got lost as we waited almost an hour but no offer of drinks or even an apology. The guy did chase it up quickly though when we said. Food was fine when it arrived but overall a disappointing visit.

The pizzas here are amazing. We couldn't finish them and the staff were happy to box them up. The atmosphere is very nice and classy, the place is centrally located, though parking is somewhat difficult - you will need to park and pay at a nearby parking lot. They also do cocktails.

I went there for a dinner with my family. We ordered one pasta with a little tomato sauce for my daughter, one penne arrabiata for me and a haddock dish for my wife. My daughter pasta was a swimming pool of a kind of red sauce that con not be called tomato sauce. My pasta was over cooked with no flavour of chilli, just a little of chilli flakes to make it spicy. My wife haddock was horrible. I truly not recommend this restaurant. A waste of money

Came here to have a soup and a panini. The place was quiet with around 6 other people in. Ordered, waited over 25 minutes. Eventually went up to the bar and asked if I could just pay for the 3 drinks because we were running out of time. The man and woman behind the bar were extremely rude. They said my food would be 2 more minutes and when I said no they said "you ordered it so you need to pay for it". When I reminded them I had not eaten the food, nor seen the food they huffed and puffed. There was excuses about a "large order" which a family put in (this consisted mostly of oven pizzas) which meant their chef could not cope with heating up bowls of soup and making a panini! Eventually the 2 grumpy staff got their manager, who on the reverse was very kind and apologetic! Our 3 drinks (2 cokes and 1 orange juice came to £9). Definitely avoid.

The staff was OK but the food wasnt good. The ice cream tasted like it was bought from the worst supermarket in the country. Plus, no quattro formaggi in an "italian" restaurant...

The food is good. Cleanliness is not great, as in all restaurants in Scotland, but maybe we in Italy are used to other standards. Kindness is not among the owner's talents. Instead of asking us if we wanted dessert or bitters, she brought us the bill, which we had not asked for. It is not nice to leave money in places like this.

If you are very hungry and everything is closed, the pizza is edible. The place wasn't empty at the time, I guess it was empty because it's horrible. The only unfriendly person in Scotland is the waitress in this bar.

A takeaway pizza 20 minutes waiting with the place EMPTY!!! The manager, a middle-aged woman, without a word or a smile, created the only unfriendly person in all of Scotland, another young girl behind the bar who only drank jugs of Coca-Cola without stopping, she thought she was the victim of a camera hidden 🤣🤣No wonder the others are full and they are not!! DON'T GO!!

Had the most amazing chicken madras highly recommended. Definitely worth a visit.

yes, I was with my wife and son there, I ordered a salad with prawns for my wife, the salad stank of rotten meat because the cook says fresh shrimp, but in Romania or Bulgaria in the trash can this is the first freshness, but a respected person will not eat rotten meat. do not recommend.

We ordered Margherita pizza and ended up getting a regular cheese pizza with a slice of tomato. Not quite sure how it qualifies for a Margherita. Otherwise the food was ok.

Starter mussels (sauce excellent!), calamari also good. Pizza a bit oily, tastes good, more like fast food pizza. Staff friendly. Expectations were met. Food came quickly, prices were very reasonable (15 pounds for a medium-sized pizza), so unfortunately only 3 stars..

Food good prices ok staff friendly enough. Big no from me no disabled toilet had to use the gents ladies toilet and baby changing up a flight of steep stairs impossible for me to get up or for a mum holding a baby.

Had a great meal and service here today. The indian dishes were amazing, we had the creamy chicken kormu and the super flavourful traditional indian curry. Definitely recommend! Chicken burger and pasta bolognese were great as well. Service was super friendly and fast even though we came in just 15 minutes before the kitchen closing time. Desserts were also delicious.

Visited as part of an itison voucher and the main of pizza and pasta were really decent, good portion and tasted fresh. The sticky toffee pudding was a little burnt but ok. My only issue was the service, although really pleasant, it was really slow. We could have been done 45 mins earlier! However, it was a tasty, simple meal and we left happy enough.

Not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but we had to leave before our order came out. Ended up feeding the kids food from the chip shop while driving back home for work. If the staff had told us there was going to be a long wait we would have tried elsewhere. Forty minutes with no explanation as to what the hold up was, is pretty poor, especially when there are no other tables waiting for food in the bar. Was there an event elsewhere in the hotel or was the chef away for a break? We'll never know.

Wheelchair access from the street but not the gent's toilet as there are stairs up to the toilet not many but there there. Food was nice, good portion size and hot, one of the girls serving was really polite and friendly, the other girl looked like she had lost £20 and found £1. Toilets were really clean as was the restaurant. I would go back again

Just loved my Pizza and my wife loved her Pasta. Veg Pakora and Molluscs were super yum... Must visit for anyone visiting Oban in search of a good Italian place to eat. Just please avoid if it is cold outside. This place is super cold with bad heating.

Some of the staff were very miserable and borderline ignorant. Food was thankfully very good and plentiful. Some of the next tables drinks were added to my bill, but thankfully spotted. Nicer staff would have earned 5 stars.

Service was great food was great,staff were perfect considering staff were under so much pressure due to lack of staff. And with some dinners not happy with the time they got served even when staff told them food would be longer than normal and they sat down knowing of the time they still complained 😡. We got served within 30minutes food was warm and very nice so 5 star from us 👍👍👍👍👍

Ordered a pizza and chips. Food was excessively oily and had a strange aftertaste. My sister and I left hardly having eaten anything and had to get dinner somewhere else. :/ I will usually eat anything but this food genuinely tasted off. The servers were kind, but they delivered the wrong food to us multiple times.

Went in for coffee with a view to maybe staying for food... We were given a menu and then waited for nearly 15 minutes by the waitress. When she returned, we ordered coffees with oat or soya milk, only to be told that they don't do non-dairy. We left without buying anything. It's the 21st century guys... Try to keep up with changing attitudes towards food production/consumption. It's not difficult.

Even with spare tables, staff can not be bothered to make cocktails because "they are to busy". Thus if look for a drink or choice I'd look elsewhere.

The food in this place surprised us! We had calamari fritters, mussels, and sirloin steaks and it was all super tasty! The place looked a little lacklustre from the outside, but I'm so glad we chose this place. Friendly service and good food.

Friendly Staff, the Mojito tastes like water though. Stopping by for a pint next to the busy road is definitely enjoyable…

Brilliant food, I had the "spaghetti on the rock". Can't say I've tasted better seafood. Big portion, reasonable price. Solid 10/10.

Our meal was excellent the staff were very nice but not very attentive. We sat for ages waiting for someone to take our order other than that we will be back when we are back in Oban.

After reading some negative reviews, we were bit concerned. Guy's honestly, excellent food, big portions, friendly staff, decent prices. We visited this restaurant two evenings in row. No regrets. Unfortunately, this our last night in this town. We will definitely come back once back in Oban.

Very nice wee setting down at oban harbour. Food was nice and well priced. Defo with a visit if struggling to get 'coast's or 'Cuan mor'. They're defo the two places to visit if you want the best dining experience around. Go as far to say in Scotland.

Had dinner here last night with my friend, we had steak pie and I would definitely recommend it.Staff so very friendly and very professional so look forward to visiting Bar Rio on our next trip to Oban.

The food was very good,but the cappuccino it wasn't the best for my partner. She didn't like this type of coffee. The service was very good.

Waiting staff need better training, served flat juice and the spaghetti bolognese was served with knife and fork asked for spoon given a small desert spoon, mince lacking in flavour, very low quality meat used and greasy
