Well i can start by saying I wouldn’t hastily return. We ordered takeaway served by Theresa who seemed to be on another planet, she literally took my order than came back 2 minutes later asking if I had ordered something else. Whilst we were waiting she had someone come in and basically threaten her for money presumably for drug debts judging by her mannerisms. Aside from the comedy whilst ordered the food was below par, an undercooked doughy pizza, a miserable half portion of chips with cheddar cheese instead of the customary mozerella. Now chips cheese and donner meat is generally served as it is said not chips donner meat and cheddar cheese. In addition the donner meat was hard and not appealing. Very disappointed!

First we made the mistake of eating in the restaurant which seemed to take the owner by surprise. Once we sat down we realised it wasn't the cleanest place. There was rice on thr floor and a dirty stained child t-shirt draped over a chair at one table. The menu is extensive but perhaps too large to make anything of actual quality because there's so many dishes.Once we ordered it was a but like a circus performance as we were brought poppadoms and chutney but no cutlery at all and plates brought to us one at a time (one of which was flithy and had to be swapped). The starters were reasonable all be it frozen onion bhajis which were grey and mushy in the muddle. The open kitchen probably didn't help the chef to hid his sins as we watched the box of frozen bhaji get dropped into the frier. The main courses was the real let down. The rices definitely weren't cooked fresh and were reheated and mushy. The nan bread was exactly the same shape as the supermarket pre packed nan breads but looked like it had been put under the grill to mimic being made in a tandoor oven. If the nan was homemade they must make they for Sharwoods and Pataks too.The curry sauces were OK. The tandoori chicken really let them down. Very dry and probably precooked to be dropped into the sauce. The chicken wasn't skewered which again suggests there is no tandoori oven where you would normally cook tikka chicken. At this point in the meal we waved the white flag and called it a day. Our bill for 4 people came to £68. A price I'd happily pay for a half decent Indian meal. Unfortunately this wasn't even half decent. The final act of the evening came when it appeared no one could work the till and I was asked to make a bank transfer direct to the owners account. This was new to me and probably news to the tax office too!I did gave a brief chat with the chef/owner and explained my disappointment. I was duly told that being from Manchester if he'd have known he wouldn't have cooked the dishes in the same manner, and he only cooks creamy curries because the Bute locals don't like anything else. I'm not totally convinced about needing to tell the chef in every restaurant where your from so they can tailor their cooking methods to your home town variation. Having eaten curries around the world I've never felt the need to tell the restaurant where I'm from in order to receive edible food. Overall, I think they're cutting too many potentially dangerous corners (reheated rice and meat) trying to cater for everyone with such a large menu. If they cooked just 5/6 main dishes well they could concentrate on making other things fresh. One of the oddest things was the lack of any kitchen noise or talking in the kitchen. We could hear a pin drop in the restaurant because there was no music and not a single customer other than us. After our experience I think I know why now.

Best way to try any new Indian takeaway (on holiday) for us is to order tried and tested favourites from our usual takeaway back home. So 2 vegetable pakora, Chicken Tikka Biryani and Chicken Tikka Bhuna was the order we placed. As this took the bill to just over £25 we then would receive 'complimentary' poppadoms and spiced onions. (or so we thought)I paid when I ordered and headed into town for a beer whilst the order was made. On my return was initially asked for payment again, which was quickly refused and then clarified. On unpacking the order back at our holiday let I was disappointed to see that the poppadoms and spiced onions were missing. In the end that was the least of our worries. The pakora were so overly spiced that any flavour was lost which was then obliterated by the hot sauce. Our taste buds having been destroyed it may well have been that the biryani and bhuna were passable, however it was almost impossible to tell. I rarely leave anything when we have our usual takeaway but couldn't finish my share of the bhuna and rice.If nothing else this proves that we're spoiled by our favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway in Dumfries which always provides quality, no matter what you order.

Firstly the food was great really tasty, the waiter was of a poor standard constantly asking us questions of what we ordered even after writing it down, once it came to the bill make sure you know a rough price before going up as the guy that does the bill cannot read the waiters writing it seemed and ends up overcharging, the couple that paid before us encountered the same problem and had to do the calculations from the menu themselves.

From some of the other reviews I've read on here it would appear that this place is a bit hit and miss. When we entered the restaurant we weren't entirely sure if it was open or not. The owner's small son assured us that it was and his father came out from the kitchen and invited us to sit down. We were the only people in the restaurant so service was prompt and our food arrived quickly. Given that many of the reviews for this place are pretty bad I was worried that we may have made a mistake. Most of the restaurants in Rothesay don't open until tea time.I ordered a chicken jalfrezi, my husband had a chicken biryani and my friend had a vegetable bhuna. My friend and I decided to share a bowl of rice, which was a mistake because the portion was rather small so we ended up having to order another one, which, incidentally was really huge! We were served by the owner's son, who is only about 7 years old and a really lovely, polite little boy - a pleasure to speak to.My husband ordered a coke and my friend had a sweet lassi. I ordered a salty lassi. The lassis were a bit watery, and came in a pint glass. Unfortunately, mine was so salty that I couldn't drink it so the owner, who is very accommodating and friendly, immediately replaced it with a glass of water, and didn't charge me for it.Our main courses were huge, and the sauces on each were delicious! My husband, who has a huge appetite, was at pains to finish his dish. I cleared my plate as it was so tasty but I really felt like I was about to burst! My friend said she thoroughly enjoyed her curry as well. Needless to say we had no room left to try any desserts. We really enjoyed our meal at the Indian Pavillion. The owner, who is from Amritsar in the Punjab, is really friendly and chatty and makes you feel that nothing is too much trouble. I would not hesitate to return to this restaurant on my next visit to Rothesay.

The food has nothing to do with India. It’s a trap. They served Channa with tomato sauce in the name of channa masala. Every food we ordered was tastless and could not be called as Indian food. Not even the fusion of Indian food. What’s worse? The food was served by a little boy (who apparently was playing and eating in the kitchen). Guess what else was missing? Food hygiene.

Another exists a short distance from here but it was constantly closed during our stay. The restaurant doesn't have a great appearance from the outside and is very plain on the inside, but would the food be good?A young couple run the restaurant and they are trying hard to please and the kids are present which can please you or put you off your meal depending on your outlook. It didn't bother us at all, it was cute when the owner's son aged about 6 asked us how our food was and was quite a chatterbox. For his efforts he got a tip and was delighted. The starters were very good and the curries were ok but didn't have me longing to return for moreThere was plenty of carry out meals leaving the restaurant via the home delivery service during our visit. For starters, we had onion baghis, fish pakora, chicken tikka and mushroom pakoras. They were all well made and the fish, which I had, was excellent. This was followed by South Indian Garlic chicken, fabulous but a love of garlic and chilliest is required, lamb and chicken Tikka Bhalti, another winner and two other dishes whose names I can't recall but were well enjoyed by the recipients. Nam breads and rice accompanied the dishes and although not on the menu, I asked for lemon rice and they provided a very good one indeed. It is not expensive, which is just as well as they don't take credit cards and to make it even more reasonable, it's bring your own bottle too.

This used to be an excellent restaurant many years ago and seems to have lost its way between the subsequent owners, however we decided to give it a go anyway. I rang to order a delivery and wanted to know a little bit about the dishes, which had a nice spicy kick, which were mild etc, they were very helpful and described the dishes and also offered to add chilli to milder dishes if we wanted to. The order arrived about half an hour later, all looking fresh and hot. The mixed pakora was nice, but then pakora is pakora really. The channa chaat was a little too sweet and along with the pakora sauce was a vivid red colour....may have been beetroot powder, I'm not sure. The mains however were excelllent - Chicken Tikka Achari was delicious and nicely spiced and the Chicken Jalandhari equally delicious with a bit of a kick, both came with lovely saffron rice. The vegetable curry was nice but nothing special. Had the naan as well, as you do, and they were very nice. The portions were a good size so there was plenty left for the always enjoyed leftovers the next day. All in all it was very nice and I would definitely go again.

For a short while it seemed to me as if the standards had gone back to a few years ago when it was second to none.Alas, too many wrong orders on the takeaway side make getting a takeaway now untenable. It spoils the whole concept of the idea of relaxing and making a meal stress-free. It is at the embarrassing stage when the delivery driver is sent back round to make his apologies when it isn't his fault. Moreover it makes one feel obliged to tip for a second time to cover the cost of the petrol. Granted, my missing pakora sauce was sent round quickly enough but it was so industrial-tasting and unpalatable that I wished it hadn't been.It is a shame as for a brief moment there, I thought the India Pavilion was back to its best. However, I do not like being ripped off and it is happening so often that I find it hard to believe that it is merely a mistake. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the mixed tandoori to find it consisted only of the chicken tandoori, tikka and some lamb, but no prawns or seekh kebab. Tonight I ordered the special pavilion Karahi which should comprise of chicken, lamb and prawn. Alas, only chicken. The order was not misunderstood as it was repeated back to me. First impression was the knockout smell of cooking from the open kitchen, which to me wasn't unpleasant but was the kind of smell that would stick to your clothes. Had we been a little earlier they'd have allowed us to sit in and they nearly did, to be fair it was 11.30pm and we were grateful that they'd make us food, but we ended up with a takeaway which was very tasty, albeit with chunks of chicken so big it was hard to cut them up with the plastic forks they gave us on request...I wouldn't be down on this eatery, they were accommodating and we enjoyed the food, but the place could maybe do with a good airing.

Excellent food, generous helpings, spotlessly clean and very pleasant and attentive staff. Only downside is parking but if going after 6:30pm, we can park further down.
