On a weekend away with my dad , brother and my god father . We were looking for somewhere to eat in . We were reluctant at first to go into this place as the outside appearance makes you think “ maybe not such a good place to go “ , however so glad we went here . Lady let us know that they didn’t serve alcohol, so while we ordered , one of us nipped to a shop to grab some beers . Food was great , freshly cooked , tasty and the service from the staff was brilliant. We were literally the only ones in there , so you could bring the stars down , but we enjoyed the fact we had the place to ourselves . The price was also really good , we ordered 3 curry’s , 2 nans , tandoori chicken , 2 rice and other sundries . In total the meal came to £68 for 4 people and it was more than enough to share , great value . If you’re looking for a curry in Campbell town , then definitely come here .

Wasn't expecting such delicious curry in Campbeltown. We had the Naga lamb, achari chicken, prawn biryani, saag panir, peshwari naan and poppadoms. Big chunks of meat and panir, punchy spice on the lamb, lovely sourness on the achari. We polished everything off - 100% recommend. Thank you!

Disgusting reheated junk! Ordered a munchie box - millions of chips, couple of onion rings, couple of chicken nuggets…. Everything else was very disappointing, kebab meat that has been reheated over and over and dried out to a tinder, the chicken tikka was cooked earlier in the year and reheated it seems, genuinely like beef jerky! Disappointed very much!

The Bangladesh is unfortunately changed hands. We had a home delivery and it cost £53 for 1 mixed pakora 2 popadums, spiced onions that we did not receive, 2 watered down dips, lamb saag, chicken rezala, mushroom rice, 1 peshwari nan, 1 chapati and raita. £10 delivery. The person that delivered it said that’s a bit expensive which we then phoned to question the price. We were told we took prices from an old menu and we were overcharged by £5. The Bangladesh used to be great but what we had tonight was awful, no taste, bland, and very expensive…… So disappointing. Won’t be ordering again.

Attended this Tandoori as it had better reviews than it's counterpart. Sat downstairs ( I believe it used to host people upstairs). Indian meal was lovely - curry and rice made beautifully. The naan bread was quite bland however. Host was very polite and nice however due to business of the take away part, had forgotten our drinks to begin with. BYOB too so remember that! Atmosphere could do with improvements to give the restaurant area a focus. Good food so can't complain about that!

While working in Campbeltown,I fancied a takeaway and paid a visit to Bangladesh Restaurant (My 2nd time in a year). I ordered a simple takeaway,a Chicken Vindaloo,a Tarka Dhal side, and a keema nan. Firstly, the vindaloo. The sauce was pretty watery and runny (I’m used to most vindaloos being thicker),though certainly not lacking in flavour, and the chicken was pretty dry, though still didnt taste too bad.Not the hottest Vindaloo I’ve had,but certainly not the weakest, the heat was about just right. The Tarka Dhal was similar, with a very watery texture, though did taste pretty nice. The keema nan though, was absolutely superb, though I thought a little on the small side (being from the Glasgow area, you’re used to ones like elephants ears). The meat inside was perfect, and a great accompaniment to the rest of the meal. All served by a lovely friendly lady at the desk.Prices were good for what I got,and I’ll definitely be back in the future.

Food was delicious, really nice, good price! Aside from that, it's a take-away place with a small side attached restaurant. It was very basic, no decour or atmosphere at all. And we came in second place to the phone ringing for take-aways all the time, so service was a bit average. If you are after a take-away, this is the place to go!

Food was very nice but the waitress was on her own doing everything, the restaurant doubles as a takeaway also so she was taking orders for that too. We know this because we also used the takeaway earlier in the week so this isn't a negative. We weren't offered poppadoms and a pickle tray at the start. We assumed we had to ask for them in the end even though other reviews said they were complimentary. She quickly took our order before having to serve the table of 8 next to us with their food. It just felt a little rushed but then there was a long wait before food came out. The food was very nice, we were stuffed. The place is clearly popular and sees regular custom but it would be nice to see more staff to get to tables quicker.

Five of us went and ordered five main courses, five different rice, two side dishes and two different types of Nan, if I remember correctly we were given popadoms and chutney were complimentary. You know where this is going I’m sure. Far to much food ordered, greedy us. Although I can’t remember what we al ordered except that it was three chicken, one prawn and one lamb dish I will say that nobody could fault any of it and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. There wasn’t to many other people in but it certainly did a busy take out/home delivery custom, so that speaks for its self. Staff were very friendly and the best bit was it only cost £20 a head and that included a tip. If your in Campbeltown it’s worth a try, G&I and friends.

The Bangladesh had been a favourite haunt for years when visiting family in Campbeltown, however recent experiences have been much less than satisfactory. Despite ordering 5 vastly different dishes, the base sauce for everyone was essentially the same- level of spicing apart. The ‘spring lamb’ was as tough as a coiled spring and the chicken dry and tasteless. While in the past the nan bread was vast, puffy and exhuberant, it has become like the nondescript pre- packaged supermarket offerings. In general dull, generic flavours pervaded. Edible and functional but loveless and desperately lazy in its preparation. I suspect the chef has changed and certainly not for the better: the collapse in quality, flavouring and attention to detail is that dramatic. Pricing? Inflation is undoubtedly on the up but prices have increased by more than 30% on most dishes since the previous iteration of their menu. Incredible. With the resultant drop in quality, this is outrageous to say the very least. What a shame. Campbeltown’s best Indian restaurant for years appears to have hit the rocks. The kitchen needs a serious shake up if it is to survive…

We had been recommended the Bangladesh as the best Soufh Asian food in Campbeltown. Chicken Karahi, the chicken was a little chewy and the vegetables undercooked, sauce was perfectly pleasant. Lamb Jalfrezi, the lamb was cheey and tough, chillis were raw, sauce was pleasant, but little spice and certainly no depth. Chicken pakoras, chewy, like a poor kfc without the flavour, onion bhajis, perfectly pleasant, but a little mediocre. Overall, edible, but not great.

I take three friends of mine away on a golf tour every year. The requirements are quite simple: classic, well laid out golf courses; a clean, comfortable place to stay and a curry on a Monday night. It was Monday in Machrihanish after we had played the historic old links and we were in need of something warming other than whisky. Taking the courtesy bus run for residents in the Ugadale hotel and suites we were driven the 15 minutes or so it takes to get into Campbeltown, stopping first at a Tesco to stock up with beers and wine, as the Bangladesh Tandoori is unlicensed but there is no corkage charge levied on the booze. The location is pretty uninspiring. Actually make that uninspiring and not at all pretty. As one climbs the stairs one could quite easily be in some rather scruffy student digs that could do with some intensive enhancements. However at the top of the stairs we were greeted with a warm smile from a lady, who presumably is one of the family that runs the place, and we were soon equipped with glasses and bottle opener to enjoy our beer and the wine we had brought. And the food is top notch with some really terrific spicy kebabs. We went through the card with lots of delicious, fluffy garlic naan to help down the large number of dishes that soon piled onto our table top. The clear indication of how good the food was came with the only thing left behind being that utterly superfluous bit of salad garnish that seems compulsory with so many sub-continental appetisers. All four of us had a terrific meal so don't be put off by the location or the decor, this is a place for some solid, good value food and friendly, attentive service. For curry loving golfers it is just what we are always looking for. And we found it.

The entrance down a tiled corridor and up some stairs is a little off putting but once you get upstairs to the restaurant it's quite small inside but clean and tidy. We had a look at the menu and ordered 4 Popadoms with chutneys, onion bhaji and chicken tikka for starters and butter chicken with chips and chicken jalfrezi with mushroom pilau rice and a garlic naan bread for main. The food was piping hot, tasty and full of flavour, would definitely return for a takeaway curry. The bill came to just over £31 and was worth every penny. Had spiced onions and popadoms first classReally looking forward to main course, tandoori chicken, sauce just disgusting they took it away and made three attempts at rectifying but still tasted awful base taste horrible, so basically main meal ruined couldnt eat dry chicken/bread, staff got annoyed when we refused to pay for it all. We paid 1/2 the bill, we just looking for good curry not to argue over food/bill! Poor service all round! Give it a miss if u like a decent curry

We received a very friendly welcome when we visited and included the chef coming to say hello. The food was excellent and we can heartily recommend a visit when in Campbeltown. It is also BYOB with no corkage so you can choose your drinks before you arrive. We shall certainly return when we next visit Campbeltown.

After recently working in Campbeltown (we're not local), we were looking to order an Indian takeaway one night. The food was delicious. There were three of us eating. We got chicken pakora which was great. My dad particularly enjoyed the Bombay potatoes and the curries were authentic and didn't appear to be full of additives or colourings. Would highly recommend trying this place out. I can't comment on the actual restaurant because as mentioned above we had it delivered. The only thing I would say is the delivery charge was quite excessive in comparison to our local delivery charges BUT the curry made up for it and now that we are home we can't face a mediocre curry from our local takeaway.

Well worth a visit in the evening to have an authentic taste of Bangladeshi stroke Indian cuisine. Lovely service and great food at an affordable price. My family also went to eat here and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

I had a very good meal here when in Campbeltown recently. I smelled the curry down the street and decided to give it a try. The outside is a bit shabby but don't let that put you off. The food is good but it does lack atmosphere. I was on my own so maybe if you are in company, this would not be as obvious. The food was tasty and it is worth a try.

~ Down to earth eateries. Good food at fair price.~ Excellent Pilau Rice, and good spicy vindaloo.~ Lack atmosphere, soft house music would be good and would make the dining more pleasurable. ~ Notice quite a lot of pizza takeaway or deliveries, must be good. But we didn't try.

This bleak, uninspiring restaurant is upstairs through a smelly close. It used to serve pretty good food, so we tried to get a table in the partially filled dining area. The large group already seated there looked bored to death, there were no drinks, food or menus in front of them.A waiter appeared and hurriedly asked us to sit in the waiting area while he checked to see if he had a table. Another couple arrived and wandered over to a table. After a few minutes of table shuffling we were offered a corner table under a flickering lamp....... Still no attention for the large group! After a few more minutes of no activity, and no attention for anyone we decided to try elsewhere for some foodPlease, owners, if you do nothing else, change that light bulb!!

We were in the mood for a curry! And, of course, Scotland is known for great curries. Based on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor, and the recommendation of a local, my friend and I tried Bangladesh. What a mistake! The food was awful. The peeling wallpaper and musty atmosphere should have been the giveaway. We attributed the lack of any other diners to the fact that Bangladesh is primarily a take-out joint. In retrospect I am sure it's because the food it wretched. The onion bhajis and the pakoras both a greasy mess. The tandoori chicken came with a strange flavoured mystery sauce. The Saag Paneer was a dried out mess. The shrimp curry was tasteless. All the sauces tasted like they came from a jar. Service was a dreadful as the food. I ordered sparkling water. The waiter brought still. When I pointed this out to the waiter he shrugged, rummaged through the nearby bar fridge and found a replacement bottle which he placed on the table next to my glass which was already filled with the still water. A replacement glass never appeared. I carefully poured the still water back into its bottle so I could re-use the glass for the sparkling water. Stay away! If you want a curry in Campbeltown I suggest you try the nearby Taj Mahal. Nicer location overlooking the harbour. And, though I haven't tried the Taj Mahal, the food could not be worse than Bangladesh. I cannot imagine how our experience was so different from the reviews I read on TripAdvisor.

Don't be fooled by the appearance of this place. It serves the best Indian food in Kintyre. We are frequent customers when in the area.

Our party of 9 endulged in the Thursday Night Buffet which turned out to be excellent value for money.A good selection of starters and mains and they even cooked a mild dish (which wasn't on the set menu) for the youngest member of our group at no extra cost.Good food at a good price. Naan breads are also included in the set price of £9.95.There's no table licence, so bring your own drinks.Would thoroughly recommend.

Sometimes you need to be exceptional to stamp your mark in a small town and despite it being a cold october night the taj mahal was fairly busy. A few tables plus takeaways were keeping staff busy. A friendly welcome was followed by a quick service. A nice mahkani masala with rice and mixed pakora were appreciated!!

Visited for dinner, one of the few places in Rothesay where you can sit in for food after 8pm. Had a look in before and discovered it was a BYOB place so went to the Co-Op and bought a few beers to take with us. Have the chefs platter to start with very very tasty and a nice mix. Lamb biryani for the main, slightly grease but quite a lot of good size lamb pieces. Definitely worth a visit.
