Closed from September 8th to September 23rd 2023. Per their website. Bummer. Would’ve liked to try them. Maybe next time :)

We arrived at 5:45pm on Saturday 12th August and it was closed. A call to the phone number met with the message that the number didn't exist. Has this place closed for good?

Amazing food flavours, generous portions and very friendly staff. Highly recommended. Bring your own bottle is a bonus too!

What a lucky find! This small family run restaurant is one to be savoured. The food was all freshly prepared and requests for specific tastes met. If you are thinking about a meal out in Oban go no further than this little gem. We have has two of the best Indian meals here served by welcoming and cheerful staff. We would not go past it.

What a gem, amazing food, reasonably priced, take your own booze! Best Indian I've ever had. Pilau rice was exceptional.

I ordered a takeaway on a Sunday night opting for simple rice, daal and saag paneer. Never having been before I thought these were safe options. How wrong I was... I was staying at a nearby hotel where the kitchen had closed but the staff took the packages from me and plated them up. The waiter was silent when he placed the combined meal in front of me because it looked as though someone had vomited. It was a pool of watery yellow mush with, to my amazement, Brussels sprouts floating in it. Since when have sprouts been part of Indian cuisine? The paneer consisted of four diced pieces each about the size of a marble; there was no proper spinach just a trace of what looked like green slime on the plate. The mush, I can think of no other word, was tasteless; there was no evidence of cumin, coriander (despite the name of the establishment), garam masala or any Indian flavour at all. Not only that but I was charged over £16 for this rubbish. I am amazed beyond belief that this place can stay in business.

Had a fantastic take away from Coriander tonight . The food was superb . Sauce was rich and creamy and chicken cooked to perfection . Peshwari Nan was lovely . After having a chat with the counter staff who were delightful I discovered the food is cooked to order . Ver impressed and will be back .

Was looking forward to a takeaway having read reviews and been told in restaurant by fellow customers how wonderful it was. Now left questioning my expectations as overall experience well below what I’d rate as great. Firstly recieved a call to say meal was ready for collection. After short journey back to accommodation, served meal and realised lukewarm and rice was missing. Only rice however integral part of meal . Had to shovel food into oven to try to salvage anything close to an enjoyable meal. Called and told sorry we’re busy and rice was delivered 10 minutes later. Then served meal and opened sauce dish and was wrong sauce - not masal but a bitter grainy watery sauce. Meal ruined - nice tandoori chicken now cold and majority of accompaniments inedible. Peshwari naan doughy and park - not at all properly cooked. Sorry doesn’t rectify an on the whole incorrect and unenjoyable £40 meal

The best indian takeaway in Oban in my opinion. There are 3 in total but this one gives more chicken per portion and is always yummy. It's a bit tiny as a restaurant and you have to take your own alcohol I think so it's not as good as Spice World for the atmosphere.

Passed by and the menu looked good. Came later for dinner and was closed at 7.30pm on a Thursday. Nothing on the website to say it’s closed and the sign in the window says it’s open every day except Monday & Tuesday. Seems to be a bit of a theme in Oban, bit of a lottery whether places will be open or not.

First time here. Ordered some food to take away. Tasty and nicely cooked tandoori mixed grill though smaller portion size than what I'm used to, and no sauce. The naan bread was okay, a bit doughy. Overall though, it was good and I'd go back again and try something else.

We had a take out as we were staying in a hotel nearby, and didn’t fancy going out. I had murgh makhani and my wife had chicken chuttunated .. with onion Bahji.. a pesweri nan and mushroom rice .. all was absolutely delicious!!! The flavours were spot on and the chicken was real breast .. not cubed reformed stuff !! Bahgi’s we’re big and delicious too !!

I've only ordered for delivery from here hence no atmosphere rating although I have heard that the staff are cheerful and accomodating. Good food.

Haven't been able to order from here for reasons, now I have after a while and wow, just.as wonderful as ever! Vindaloo bloomin' fantastic, just hope I can order soon again. Oh, btw the delivery is fantastic too, no waiting too long xx

Having hung around half the afternoon waiting on this restaurant to open at 5pm as website says. we walked in the POURING RAIN to realise the restaurant was CLOSED...... THE WEBSITE DID NOT INDICATE THIS. We did however go to the start of town and enjoyed a five star Indian meal there which we have recommended and will return to in the future. Very very disappointing that you wouldn't update the people who travel to enjoy!!!!

Lovely little restaurant in quiet part of town. Very friendly manager and food was delicious. Cost was very reasonable for a tourist town. Would definitely recommend it. Not licensed but plenty of shops nearby if you want to bring your own bottle.

Just off the main shopping area in Oban, Coriander is a hidden gem. We visited on a Wed evening. The front-of-house reception was warm, friendly and efficent with every request granted without question. The menu was interesting with a good mix of options for every taste, including our one vegetarian. The service was excellent and food was prepared and delivered quickly and unobtrusively.. Everything that we ordered was of good quality and wonderful flavour. It was also great value for money. There is no drinks licence so beers were bought from the supermarket just around the corner. I couldn't praise this place highly enough.

One of the best and freshest curries I’ve had in a while. All home made sauces and you can really tell. If any of you want to support a small local business in Oban, this one should be on your list. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Thumbs up.

Visited here, whilst using Oban as a stop over before Mull - the reviews said this was the Indian restaurant to visit and the reviews weren't wrong! Although first impressions make you feel you're sitting in a shop front or someone's lounge - don't be misled/fooled - the food is fantastic and front of house is attentive, professional and friendly. Poppadoms - freshly cooked & crisp whilst the chutneys were yummy. All of the food was top notch but I single out the huge onion bhajees and the moter paneer as being the best. Highly recommended

Yesterday I had one of my best experiences of indian cuisine ever. Before I was in India and also enoyed excellent dishes in some of the best indian restaurants in England. So I was more than surprised to find such a good and well tasting diner as we did at Coriander. The sauces have been concentrated in flavor, each dish tasted different than the other, the meat was well cooked and tender, the vegetarian part also excellent and tasty. Portions very generous, the Pilaw Rice very fine with herbs and so a big thank you and we will be back. Heinz from Germany

BYO booze - a really lovely curry!! The food was excellent as was the customer service. Basic surroundings but clean with very shiny smear free mirrors! Highly recommend.

I have had two takeaways from Coriander and both have been very good. Very flavourful! The pakora sauce is fantastic 10/10

The worst food. Food came out and was nothing like what had been ordered. We tasted it and declined and left.

Fantastic service but the food is terrible. I got 70% grease and 30% curry.

After seeing 4.2 review, Ordered vegetarian rice, currys,naan. Really disappointed. I asked for a butter naan but no butter.channa masala is tangy and blood red. They put way too much red colouring which is not advisable. My little one scared to eat as it looks like blood. Quantity was very less for the main course portion. Garlic chilli was high spicy although I'm an asian spicy eater ,I couldnt eat that chilies. Rice was good luckily. Atleast we got something to eat on that hungry night so giving 3 stars..

This now a takeaway. No sit in dining. Still large portions but not the same quality.

I order from here regularly and have done so for the last five years. The veg methi that we order is always great and the other veg dishes have been good too. I can't quite understand the last few reviews because everyone I know speaks very highly of The Coriander.

Sorry to say we received possibly the worst indian food we have experienced. Ordered 2x chicken biryanni with 2x madras curry source. I would advise checking you food before leaving as you may have something different in the takeaway bag. We did not receive a madras source but a vegable ingredients that didn't taste no where near a madras. On calling we were told the kitchen staff said we had a madras source. No way on this earth was that what we received. Would not go back there again.

Agree with last few reviews. Awful food. We ordered 2x chicken biryanni and 2x madras sources. We got a vehicle something. Didn't even taste like a madras. Our worst ever experience of so called Indian food. Stay away from this Awful place. Try other places in OBAN.

If you do not want food poisoning please do not order food from here. They gave us stale chicken and stinky vegetable curry. Tastes nothing like Indian food.

My peshwari nan was lovely, but the rest was distinctly average. I would probably order again, and the delivery option was very welcome.

Last night of my break away, thought I'd treat myself to an Indian. So disappointed... bland,tasteless and definitely not value for money. Will be going back to my local where my chicken is served with rice, a proper salad and a tasty sauce. Please don't waste your money!

If you want food poisoning then this is possibly the place to go ! This is the worst India restaurant I have ever been to & I must have been to in excess of 1000 . Avoid at all costs please ..

Tenía una comida para llevar y tengo que decir que fue la peor comida que he probado tanto que no la comí y la tiré a la basura. Chicken pakora consistía en enormes trozos de pollo asado frito en demasiada masa. El cordero al curry era como goma que ni siquiera podíamos masticar con una salsa rojo sangre y sabía a barbacoa acuñada. El arroz con champiñones estaba frío y sin sabor. El pan naan era tan espeso y pastoso que no sabía a ajo. Así que si alguna vez volvemos a visitar Oban, se le dará un amplio margen a este establecimiento. ¡Ni siquiera merece una estrella! ! !

Excellent quality Indian cuisine - with a few less commonly served dishes too - with exceptionally friendly service. If definitely eat there again, and plan to next time I'm in Oban!

Had a takeaway tonight and ordered online, we got the confirmation email and they said 25 minutes, food was ready when I turned up. Food was fantastic and the chicken pakora was amazing! Great value for money and staff very nice and friendly! Will defiantly be back!

Excellent food, good value eating in or takeaway, it’s one of those rare Indian meals where you can taste the different spices and herbs used in cooking, rather than just a bland sauce made up with extra chillies

Staying in Oban, we decided to try out this small Indian restaurant a little further a walk from the centre than the two alternative options. We’re so glad we did. The food was tasty and authentic - delicately spiced and not overpowering. Service was straightforward and attentive. Remember to BYOB. We’d not hesitate to return when in the area again.

Does what it says on the tin. My wife's Dopiaza was heavily unspiced. My Achari Gosht (the waiter asked whether I wanted lamb, chicken or prawn, Gosht is lamb!!) was good. Place was soulless.

Fui dirigido por una persona local. El restaurante está a cinco minutos a pie de la calle principal, pero merece la pena. El interior es bastante pequeño (4 mesas, creo) y no hay alcohol para comprar (aunque puede traerlo, creo) y no hay postre, pero eso no importó en absoluto. El joven sirviendo fue amable y muy atento. Elegí pollo salteado como entrante, y me sorprendió la cantidad de sabor que tenía. Por lo general, elegí el chile massala de pollo con arroz con espinacas y nuevamente estuve encantado con los sabores. Me encanta la comida india y esto, para mí, se encuentra entre los mejores que he probado, todo por un excelente precio. Definitivamente regresaré y recomendaría este restaurante a todos los verdaderos amantes de la comida india.

This was a real find. Only 5 tables, maybe a little shabby but who cares when it is clean and when the food is this good. It was exceptional and the best Indian food we have ever eaten. No bar licence but I understand you can bring your own. The service was very friendly and impeccable. All at a very reasonable cost. Honestly, I wish this restaurant was near to where I live. Oban, you are so lucky.

Not pretty to look at from the outside, but do not let this put you off. Always get a fantastic meal and warm welcome

Si disfrutas un curry tanto como yo, definitivamente recomendaría este restaurante.El restaurante no es el mejor por dentro, la decoración y el mobiliario están un poco cansados, pero comimos allí como un grupo de cuatro y todos disfrutamos mucho de la comida. El restaurante no tiene licencia, pero Lidl está a pocos pasos si necesita bebidas.Curry fantástico sin duda volvería y definitivamente lo recomendaría.

Excellent food. The restaurant is a little shabby (I've seen much worse though) but the food more than makes up for it. Friendly welcoming staff too. Really wish I lived nearer - but Oban to London is probably outside their delivery zone.

Staff rude, chairs are ripped really not a nice place to sit let alone eat, the food was disgusting ordered a chicken tikka what i got was most definitely not a tikka, avoid this place look around for another restaurant.

Visited here last night and had a delicious meal.No need to book.Restaurant small and a bit shabby but food excellent.We were made feel welcome and had a complimentary bottle of strathmore to go alongside the wine we took with us.All in all a very positive eating experience and very reasonably priced.

Abbiamo prenotato questo ristornate perché era l'unico che avesse ancora un tavolo libero. Nonostante la casualità della scelta non ci siamo pentiti. Posto piccolo piccolo, servizio veloce, cibo buono ed abbondante. Abbiamo chiesto tutto non piccante e così hanno fatto. Veramente una scoperta piacevole. Un consiglio prenotare sempre qualsiasi ristornate da queste parti.

Without a doubt this is the best value for money and tastiest food in Oban, completely authentic.I have visited Pakistan myself and have tasted the real authentic food and it sits in coriander. Absolutely amazing, everything we try is a new favourite dish!The service is always on point and always a smile and a chat waiting.Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a tasty meal!Love it and will always go back!!! Should definitely open up a bigger restaurant!Would give 10 stars !

Visited here our first night in Oban after reading good reviews and were so glad we did. It’s a small friendly restaurant where you can take your own alcoholic drinks if you like or they sell soft drinks. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was fresh and delicious, one of the best curries we’ve had and extremely reasonably priced too. Definitely worth a visit.

Can't recommend this gem of a wee restaurant highly enough. Dishes so fresh and every one has a distinct taste. Great to try something new other than our usual Rogan and Jalfrazi. Friendly owner only too happy and patient to recommend dishes. Loved my Achari Gosht indian pickles and mustard seeds, husband liked his Chettinad . Great relaxed and cosy ambience, attentive service. We could hear and smell the delicious sizzling of spices from the kitchen. We brought our own beer . Prices very good value. Thanks for making my sons birthday extra special.

Great chicken tandoori masala sauce naan rice cauliflower/potato dish. Asked for white meat and no problem. Very good food. Nice waIter

Staffs are not professional nd rude

i visited this restaurant yesterday and explained to the owner my previous experience , i had on this occasion mixed pakora , a chicken tikka balti and lamb jalfrazi with a garlic coriander nan and pilau rice

We've been to Oban many times and have always gone for the seafood type restaurants. This was our first Indian and the food was really good. You can drive past this place without noticing it. It has a very unprepossessing front door and the interior decor just lacks. It isn't a big room and could be made more appealing with, for example, hiding exposed wiring. It is also alcohol-free (presumably doesn't have a license) which means you can't accompany the fine food with Indian beer. My wife had a chicken biryani which was better than most and I had big, sumptuous prawns cooked tandoori style. Our waitress was lovely - chatty and bubbly and so the whole dining experience was good.

The worst food ever. Stodgy, poor tasting food. The naans were thick and tasteless and the curries were sweet and full of cheap onions. Avoid this place

This is the worst Indian restaurant. Food is terrible. Avoid

Good quality ingredients well, but carefully spiced dishes. I eat an awful lot of curry and this was one of the better ones. In particular, the Saag Bhagi side dish was excellent - not oily, plenty of texture and taste assisted by slightly toasted garlic slices.

Travelling with friends from Scotland, Sussex and N.I. had a great experience, even though it is small and doesn't look like much from outside it was great, service and staff very helpful and the Lamb in the madras was melt in the mouth, if ever I was that way again I would definatly visit, bonus is it's byob, on this occasion we didn't.

We ordered a take away for our large group and we were not disappointed. Brilliant curry enjoyed by everyone in our party. Would definitely have the chicken jalfrezi again.

I came here with my dad on a Sunday night and had a fantastic curry, the tandoori prawn starter was really good and our mains were both great, particularly the chicken jalfrezi. we had a nice chat with both the members of staff there who were friendly and accommodating. thoroughly recommended by both myself and my dad!

Everything we ate here was beautifully fresh and just a very good example of each dish. The portions - especially starters - are generous.

La comida es de excelente calidad, servida rápidamente y con estilo en el modesto comedor, que se ve más grande de lo que es debido al espejo del piso al techo. No tienen licencia, así que si quieres una bebida, trae la tuya, hay un Lidl y un Tesco cerca. Sin cargo por descorche, tampoco. Como vegetarianos, estábamos encantados con la calidad de la comida y el bajo precio. Este es un lugar brillante para un delicioso y delicioso banquete indio. Cerrado los martes.

Fantastic service had young child with me who would not try the food they went out to buy in something espeshaly for her above and beyond to please the little lady. Thank you so much for such a wonderful service.

Worst biryani I ever had.. It was not a biryani at all.. a think they served lemon rice instead of biryani and it was not tasting good.. I don't advice anyone to visit this restaurant..never..

Delicious food! Excellent portions. More than we could eat. Friendly service and charming atmosphere. Not licensed, but you can bring your own and there is no corking fee. Highly recommend.

El cilantro es uno de los restaurantes más pequeños en los que he estado y es un BYOB. La pakora de verduras nos pareció muy seca y no especialmente para nuestro gusto.

We ate here as a group on Sunday 13 January. Tucked away and not a huge space, but the food was excellent and we had a very good time.

Really tasty food. We decided to sit in rather than get a takeaway, it added an extra £4.50 onto our £24.00 bill than if we had bought a takeaway. Take your own alcohol as not licenced. But you can purchase soft drinks and coffee. Small place, but nice!

Excellent customer service and the food was to die for....fresh and delicious, one of the best Indian food restaurants...in the world.... would definitely travel 300 miles ..to visit again XXX

La mayoría de las personas eran locales que tomaban pedidos a domicilio, por lo que es muy popular entre los locales.

Ambos amamos la cocina india (es mi favorita). Mi esposo, que ama la comida muy picante, ordenó un plato indicado en el menú como "más caliente que el vindaloo". Lo fue y le encantó, afirmando que era uno de los mejores platos indios que ha tenido. Tenía el palok de verduras y, aunque era sabroso, parecía tener muy poco para identificarlo como indio (y también era muy aceitoso). El ajo naan era sabroso, pero muy poco horneado. Desearía haber ordenado algo diferente, ya que a mi esposo le encantó su comida y el restaurante fue altamente recomendado.

Our inn owner gets takeaway from here Small and simple restaurant but absolute fresh and tasty byob so its a cheap night out. So go enjoy
