One of the worst resturents in dunoon .food was utter waste and makr sure u get the proper bill otherwise there is a high chance u get cheated in ur bill please dont go

Visited here on Saturday, food was delicious! Our waiter Mohinder was extremely pleasant & a helpful in assisting us with our choices! When We went to pay the bill tge reader was faulty! No problem at all as the trusted us to bring money next day! Would definitely go back here & highly recommend the restaurant!

Whilst returning from a short trip to Toward point lighthouse,i Googled indian restaurants in Dunoon.It suggested Ekam Palace on Argyle st adjacent to the old Argyle hotel. The unassuming street entrance leads you to an exotic Aladdin's Cave of eastern delights.This is a very beautiful restaurant tastefully furnished where authentic music enchants you as you browse the very exstensive menu. Our very attractive waitress answered our many questions on menu content and was extremely kind and helpful.The food is really superb, beautifully cooked and delicious. Here was our choice, Poppadums and spiced onions Chicken Tikka Starter Veg Pakora, all for sharing Prawn Sizzler on a bed of fried onions with piquant curry sauce and side salad. Shredded Lamb with peppers and onions accompanied by Patia sauce Plain Paratha, Roti bread & Pilau Rice. A feast of generous portions fit for a mogul King. Best of all is, it is moderate in price. Check the pics to see how good it really is. All that you see for £54 for Two people. Excellent value. It is a shame it is such a long way from my home in Glasgow. I thorougjly recommend this wonderful place to anyone in the area who has a taste for superb indian food. Thank you Ekam😊🌹

The starter of spiced onions was like a main and the lamb achari was outstanding. I had it with chapatis rather than rich. A bit of a kick but not to the extent of being challenging. First visit but definitely not my last. Very friendly staff. A great choice.

AVOID!!!! Would give no stars if possible Very Poor quality food...celonese chicken korma in sugary sweet sauce...advertised as having lemon in it. Chicken dry and tasteless. Naan bread flabby and tasteless. Lamb bhoona tasteless and generic. Out of a tin? Food not hot ...reheated possibly. Set menu for two is very cheap...you get what you pay for ...but this was appalling...l would rather pay more for some quality. Recommend that you avoid this place if you like true east Asian food. It's not worth the money and insults the intelligence.

Not as good as previous visit bit tasteless this time 5 buffets £120.last visit was much better 4buffets £64.?????……..

Sharing platter was spot on especially the veg pakora.

Ordered chicken pakora with my meal, double checked in restraunt and had to tell them again. Got home to these?? Funny looking pakora 😅

Terrible experience for delivery. Waited 3 hours and the order didn't arrive. Phoned to check on the delivery and was told the driver was just leaving. 30 mins later called back and was told the driver would be with us soon. I cancelled as a no-show and asked for money back. The restaurant told me it could take 2 weeks to refund as it's a just eat order. I wait 2 weeks and no refund. Just eat say its been longer than 48 hours, so they can't help. Called the restaurant, and the coward manager won't speak on the phone or call me back. As far as I'm concerned, they have stolen my money and couldn't deliver a meal. On the previous times I've had food from here, it's only ever been average, unfortunately the town lacks good Indian food so nowhere else to go.

We arrived and frankly the owner and his friends had no interest in us and spent the time downing beer at the bar. We sat next to a dirty table, our wine glasses dirty and stained . One napkin between us on the table . Service slow and there were just 2 tables in. The mixed tandoori grill was missing prawns and the kofta was mush. The popadoms stale. Don’t bother . Ladies toilet tired and stained wood frames and loose toilet seats . Basically terrible

Poor first impression. Sticky floors. Menus stained. Waiter friendly but service slow. Food was freezer bag stuff heated up. Probably the buffet or post-pub service is best offer.

Been here for 15 minutes it’s not busy and no order taken. Food came slowly chicken dish had no chicken, kingfisher beer tasted like dish water. Liens was good but unfortunately now I am ill. bill was not itemised, just given a total which seemed on dear side. I won’t be back . Not impressed

We have used Ekam Palace quite alot and always order exactly the same dishes and the food is always excellent until last night, our order was delivered and was missing the Nan bread we called and this was quickly rectified, the food was cold and had to be reheated we ordered fried rice and were given boiled rice, we were very hungry by this point so heated the food and ate it. We did notice a big reduction in the amount of chicken. Fingers crossed it was just a blip as we really enjoy the food they make as the quality is always spot on.

Just finished eating at the restaurant and the food was delicious, decent sized portions, currys were filled with meat, service was friendly. Will definitely return. Only negative was the radio was just playing bbc1 haha.

Tried this for the first time! Food was genuinely tasteless! No flavour, no authentic curry spices really not curry! Dishes seem to be made with the same mundane tomato base gravy which has minimal salt, no richness and no real taste of a proper curry! This is far from any form of true curry! Avoid!

We have ordered from our local curry house many times and have alway's been happy with the service and meal. Although this particular weekend ( revival) we ordered our usual and 3 hours later we were still waiting - being told, it is only 15mins away! On the last call we made, asking when our order would be delivered, they asked us to RE-ORDER 😫 not exceptable! If they had just been honest at the start, it would have been better, allowing us to order from somewhere else. Very dissapppinted!:

This is the worst Indian restaurant I have been in. The buffet was awful. We were given dirty plates, there was no meat in the dishes and we had to ask for some chicken to be put in. We had to order rice rather than it being in the buffet. All the floors were slippy, like they had all been cleaned with the same greasy mop. Toilets were filthy and full of mould and the kitchen was disgusting. I have no ideas how the place passes food hygiene standards. Disgusting. Don’t waste your money by eating here.

Having arrived in Dunoon to find everyhere booked or closed, this was a nugget of a find. The restaurant is situated in an old building but the inside is more akin to a 1970s/80s office than somewhere you would eat; nevertheless don't let that put you off, the food is excellent. You can off the menu but they were also had a help yourself but buffet on the go. A whole section of starters, breads and salad, as well as about eight different mains, a couple of rices and a vegtable section. Me and the wife both had a full plate of startes, and both went up twice to the mains section. Just trying a bit of everything. It was all very good and with two large and one small bottle of Cobra, it only come to around £ 45.

I ordered online, and a arrived to collect, order had not processed so had to wait 10mins, don’t let that put you off, the food was superb, I live down south in England, this was really good Indian food, the South Indian garlic and chilli was top tier, as well as the other curries we ordered. I’ve got nearly 2 weeks of my holiday left , so I’ll be going back for round 2 👌👌👌

Ordered a carry out on a Saturday evening at 8pm. Waited 3 hours and did not deliver. Tried to telephone and cancel on 3 occasions and did not answer the phone. Very unprofessional and unreliable service. I would definitely NOT use this restaurant again.

I should have gone with my gut feeling as I slid into the place because of the grease on the floor!! Food all tasted the same! Not good.

Arrived 6pm for buffet advertised starting 4:30 pm . In the restaurant entrance we had to negotiate our way through a staff meeting - a chef in filthy apron and whites , another one also in less than clean uniform and another 2 gentlemen , it had the feeling of staff argument. When inside there was no buffet set up - we were told it would be out soon. We reflected on the cleanliness of cooks uniforms and left without eating. Very disappointed.

been getting food from here since opening up again(new owners)usually order on the phone for pick up.phoned in last night (21st)went to shop to pick up as usual.everything as normal as i waited for my collection to come out kitchen.then 2 kitchen staff appeared from a side door,one elderly guy with an apron on (presumably the main chef),he was covered in so much curry stains and whatever else he had been dealing with in the kitchen(really looked as if it hadnt been washed for weeks,disgusting)also a younger male appeared(with his normal clothes on(no manky apron)he was covered in head to toe in food stains also.it was disgusting to see and made me think what it must be like in the kitchen hygeine wise.surprise surprise,we have had 2 family members up all night sick after eating a chicken curry meal,others had lamb and they are ok.i wont be eating anything out here again after what i saw while waiting on my order.not a good advert and will put you off if you see what i seen🤮🤮

Food was mediocre, would have been better without the waiters thumbs in it

The food is really delicious, but I can't reccomend ordering from Ekam Palace (through Just Eat). 2/3 times the food is over an hour late, or just never arrives. When calling the restaurant to enquire, they give you little information other than 'it's on it's way'. We live less than half a mile away, and waited 2 hours for our order before deciding to ask for a refund and ordering food from somewhere else.

Takeaway, so can't rate atmosphere. Chicken Tikka starter was very nice. Chicken Balti wasn't great. Asked for egg rice but got a rice that had chicken in it! In general, it was ok. Prob wouldn't use again.

Had many food deliveries and every time the food has been superb.

On hols with family. Wandering around town, when we came across Etam. Took pics of menu and decided to give the takeaway a try that evening. What a good decision. Extensive choices, reasonable prices and the food proved first class. Ready on time, all correct and very hot. Couldn’t fault it. Shame is so far away from home. Would definitely recommend

We got quite a large takeaway order for a family of 5. We arrived to collect and food was ready on time, smell was lovely. This was the tastiest curry I have had for a long time, Lamb Pesanda. Lamb was so tender and lovely big, lean chunks of meat. Others had Chicken Korma x 2, Chicken Butter Masala, Special Biryani. Rice and Naan and everyone said the food was delicious. Definitely worth a visit or take away.

Exceptionally poor service, waited around to be seated, waited a LONG time to be served. No menu (Food or drink) was given. When I was finally asked for drinks (2 Cokes) we were kept waiting even longer. There were only 2 other tables and 2 members of staff who seemed to be having a heated discussion behind us which, along with no music or ambience of any kind, made for an unpleasant atmosphere. Food was average.

Wasnt sure what to expect, service very slow and unorganised lack of staff who were trying their best very pleasant under the circumstance, but well worth the wait had tandoori salmon was cooked to perfection and rice came with curry sauce asked for korma sauce no problem. Chicken tikka also which melted in your mouth. Will definitely go back hopefully more staff but hasnt put us off well done needed a good Indian restaurant in Dunoon.

We love Indian food and eat it regularly but the food from Ekam restaurant in Donoon was not like any Indian food we have eaten before. I'm really sorry to give this poor review but being able to cook and serve tasty good food is certainly a prerequisite for any restaurant.

Awful! Ordered a veg Achari looked like a tin of mixed veg with some sauce and the sauce poor taste too! Partners prawn achari not great either ! Strange as it’s the chef’s specialty! Nan like a bit of dough! Disappointed birthday dinner!

Awful carry out from here on my partners birthday. She was actually sick after eating some of their vegetables Achari (their speciality) When I rinsed the sauce away from what was left it was a handful of frozen mixed veg. I had the prawn Achari which was edible but not great. The naan was just cooked. £25 to be sick on your birthday…. Not good. One star because we didn’t have to cook. Wish we had.

Went here while staying at Hunters Quay, Dunoon based on reviews. You would walk past this restaurant if you didn’t know about it as just looks like a shop front but opens up into a lovely restaurant. Food was excellent and staff friendly. They are also introducing a buffet on certain days. Could not fault the food or service and well worth a visit if you are in the area.

First . Dont be put off by the exterior. The restaurant at the rear is very modern and clean. There is a stair lift for people with mobility problems. Pleasant and efficient staff. The food was very good . Overall a pleasant place to eat....

Don't be put off by the restaurant's unprepossessing entrance as the interior is very pleasant, the service is good and the food is tasty.

First time visit to the Ekam Palace and definitely won't be my last. Food was amazing - best I've tasted in a long time and staff were lovely as well. Great selection of dishes served in a lovely airy restaurant. Certainly worth a visit.

Very small street frontage but opens up into a beautiful Indian restaurant. Amazing food last night. Couldn't fault anything,efinitely one to visit, I'll certainly go back. Don't miss it.

Six of us. Had a variety of starters, mains and sides - all of it was delicious. We had a few bottles of wine - good taste and very reasonably priced. The staff were very welcoming and nice. Will definitely be going back.

Had an excellent home delivery a couple of weeks ago, so no contest when we decided to have a delivery on Saturday night. However, after waiting over an hour & a half for our order, which was supposed to take 40 minutes, I gave them several calls. None of my calls were answered & we wound up having to order elsewhere. Very disappointed in their poor customer service & won't now be going for a sit in meal as we'd planned 🤨

Wow.amazing authentic Indian dishes.my family and I came here for my birthday dinner and was one of the best meals we have ever had.our waiter and waitress wher brilliant.i forgot to ask ther names but they wher so nice.we wher in Tuesday the 18th of January.cocktails wher brilliant.i cannot reccomend ekam Palace enough

Well been here 1 hour 15 min. Had to ask for a drink. Then after a while ask for a menu, then a long wait for the food which has just arrived. I'm told the wait is cause we all walked in at once. ( 3 tables separately)

Ordered takeaway! Today.... BUTTER CHICKEN BREAST! Question: do you do breast of chicken? Reply: All our chicken is breast. Asked for breast not TANDOORI..................This is what we got Chunks of skewered chicken In a KORMA Sauce! Bland is understating the total absence of Flavour or Taste! Sadly another establishment not worthy of our custom. One star is for the Nan.
