We’ve stayed just down the road from the Gaelic Centre four times now but this is the first time we’ve realised that the cafe is open outwith special events. We had excellent coffee and scones served by lovely friendly staff. The centre is very peaceful and has great views. We also really enjoyed seeing the paintings by local artist Dieter Finger - both the landscapes and the impressive portraits of some of the musicians who’ve played at the Lagavulin jazz festival in the past.

On a solo sailing trip to Tarbert I was fortunate to get a call back confirming that a table had now become available. I don't normally do fine dining without the wife. My starter of Scallops in garlic butter with Samphire was excellent, no, they were better than excellent, followed by delicious Cod Fillet in sauce. The team were welcoming and the whole dining experience was first class. Meeting a friendly and knowledgeable couple from New Zealand made the "Dinner for One" a more relaxed and enjoyable evening. Go there, eat good food, get great service, and meet nice people.

Customer service a joke. Rude arrogant staff member. If you had of spoken to my wife like that outside i would drop you! We ended up walking out and going If you had of spoken to my wife in that manner outside you would of found yourself on the decking. You are a very rude man manager or waiter you need customer service skills looking at as you have none. If you think that serving good food is all you need to do to be successful your wrong. You need your customer service skills looking at you very rude man. Even tho your local to us we will give your pub a wide birth from now on. Did you honestly think we would spend our money with you after that? The food was poor quality, overpriced.Slow service.Room cold and bathroom not clean..lots of dust everywhere...If you want to spent your money well dont waste your time to go there. They are advertising that is a special place but the truth is theg have long way go and lpys of to learn.

This was a lovely place with really friendly and helpful staff . I’m surprised about the review about booking , it’s pretty obvious it would be a good idea to book on an island this small ! The food was superb , so fresh and well cooked . I can’t fault the place and will definitely be back . I’d recommend everyone go once if you are on the island . Yumm

We came to have a dinner and instead of greetings and normal social interaction upon our arrival were met with hostility and rudeness from the waiter. When we were leaving one of the chefs flipped us off. I never experienced this kind of attitude towards customers anywhere in the world.

Looking for a place to have breakfast before going to a booked 11.00 (AM!) tasting at the Lagavulin distillery, we chanced upon ‘Labels’. What a nice find. Run by Lynn, who bakes all scones, quiches etc herself, we had a great time eating there and talking to her. A very sociable lady, with a great sense of humor. Her scones are very, very good, both the cheese and chives ones, as well as the fruit scones. Returning next day we tried the quiche, which was great too.

Did. Or feel welcome or that the bar tender was at all interested in us as guess .having had a meal in the main hotel in the past we were surprised . Sadly when. My starter of scallops arrived there was a black curly hair on the plate . I did not feel I could return it because the place did not feel but I did say when the waiter arrived to clear the plates that I might have been able to enjoy y meal had it not been for the addition hair , there was no comment

Been coming to Islay for years. Look forward to eating here on our annual trip. always a favourite with Mom, Dad and children. This year not so much. Something has clearly gone wrong. staff were miserable and food well even more miserable. Tasteless with no thought or care gone into it. we were so so sad to see this happen to Ardbeg and we wondered why? when owned by such a big luxury corporation LVMH this experience was anything but luxury.
