Lovely example of a great seafood restaurant on the gorgeous island of Gigha. Easy access from the ferry dock, we sat outside and food was really good and prices were ok

Fantastic seafood, outstanding fish and chips and a great setting all made up a lovely place for a late lunch or early dinner. Staff were very friendly and having eaten here a couple years ago the food was as good as I remembered it was. A must if visiting the island

We ate here on two consecutive evenings 5th&6th September. Food was fabulous. We had Halibut the first evening, scallops and hake the next. Service was very good, friendly and helpful.

Glad we managed to eat here on our trip to Gigha. The food was fantastic, and the staff friendly and professional. A great atmosphere in the cost restaurant inside. The Gigha oysters were some of the best I’ve had. The satay king prawns were large and peppery, and the Bloody Mary prawn cocktail was infinitely better than the bland prawn cocktails you get in most restaurants. The fish curry was full of flavour and the battered haddock was perfectly cooked. Just room for the Baileys and Kahlua cheesecake before the walk home. Thank you to the team. Do not miss this restaurant!

What an amazing place to eat. The service is excellent with the staff getting to know you and assisting with your decision. I started with oysters, first time in my life and omg, they were amazing. The seafood risotto and fillet steak are both amazing and so tasty. We will be back.

Fantastic and very tasty lunch, with excellent attentive service. The monkfish and prawn special was especially good. I visited with a group from Islay by boat and will definitely make a trip back in the future!

We enjoyed a delicious late lunch here and were fortunate to sit by the beach in the sunshine 🌞 The scallop starter with cauliflower puree and samphire was amazing as was the smoked aubergine. We both had burgers, one soft shell crab and the other beef, bacon and cheese. Fries were crisp and yummy 😋 we would highly recommend a visit!

Lovely food, with good choice, mainly seafood but did have some lovely non seafood options available. Offers a reasonably priced kids menu. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and absolutely stunning location. I had the cauliflower biryani and it was delicious, my husband had the fish of the day which was Hake and this was also beautiful.

We are very disappointed, having been regulars in previous years. The prices were exorbitant so I opted for the soft shell crab burger. I double checked if it was fried (as I didn’t want it if it was) and was assured by the staff it wasn’t. When it arrived it was deep fried, with no salad garnish & some cheap fries tipped onto the plate. The taste & presentation were poor. I was so disappointed! My partner opted for the hake which was beautifully cooked & presented but an absolutely tiny portion of fish for the (expensive) price. When we discovered the restaurant in 2020 we were enchanted however the higher prices and smaller portions have been a real let down.

Local ale on tap and delicious cocktails. Started with gigha oysters and queenie's, a must! And the venison was super tasty as main. Finished with sticky toffee pud, which was homemade deliciousness!!!! Thank you.

An excellent seafood experience, not on the cheap side (£55 per person) but worth the expense. Lunch booked for 14.30 by phone on a Monday and the person who received the booking was polite an accommodating. When we arrived the tables outside were almost all full but the space inside was relatively free, warm and inviting. The Boathouse offers beers and ales from FyneAles and we had one Fyne Lager (Scottish helles slightly stronger and hoppier than ordinary bocks) and a Highlander (an amber ale with a nutty, caramel-malt body and a slightly bitter finish). For starters we shared a Cullen Skink which was delicious (one of the best we tasted in Scotland), 3 grilled langoustines and pan fried broccoli florets with cashews, pomegranates and a sweet pomegranate sauce. As mains we had two of their famous Pan Roasted Gigha Halibut dishes served with tenderstem brocolli, ginger veloute, wild mushroom and baby potatoes and one 'classic' fish and chips dish with battered haddock, tripled cooked handcut chips, chunky tartar , and mashed peas. Every dish was excellent and the service very professional. A gastronomic experience not to be missed!

So glad to have returned. I came here two years ago with my wife and a couple of friends and we had a great time. Two years on and I had promised my daughter that I would take her there. Sometimes when you return to a restaurant where you had a good meal, it’s not the same, not as good. The same cannot be said of The Boathouse. I went for the Cullen Skink on the advice of the waitress who was exemplary. It was delicious! The stone bass, accompanied with a Sauvignon Blanc was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Such a beautiful setting and such wonderful food.

A quick ferry across from Tayinloan takes you to this great little restaurant. Crazy rain on the day, we had already booked an inside table, but it is Scotland! The food and service was fab and we would thoroughly recommend this little cracker but do remember to book!

We spent a fantastic couple of nights in Gigha, during which time we had two exceptional meals at the restaurant. I can’t speak highly enough of the service, quality of food and great atmosphere that the Boathouse provided. For starters, I had the mussels and for the main I ordered the stonebass, washed down with a delicious bramble! When we returned again, there was a BBQ with something for everyone. I think it’s important to note that the staff were incredibly friendly and this made for a really great experience. This is a must try for all seafood lovers! C & L 🍴🍹🎣
