Lugar increíblemente positivo. Personal amable y un ambiente maravilloso.
Estuve muchas veces, la comida genial y el servicio también. Haz un trabajo brillante aquí. Crédito real a la iglesia y la comunidad local.
The Gillespie Centre is based in a refurbished former church building in the centre of the town and aside from the café the building is used for many community events. It’s operated by Biggar Kirk and most, if not all of the staff are volunteers.
The café hours are limited to the earlier part of the day (10am - 2.30pm or thereabouts) so best to check online. It’s self-serve and a bright and modern setting. When we last dropped in it was very busy and noisy in the main area of the café. I guess a kid’s club or some such event had recently finished and consequently there were lots of adults and children having lunch. The other section which overlooks the High Street was fully occupied so we just had to embrace the noise level. As we had our grandchildren with us at the time it was probably a good distraction for them to be amongst their peers.
The menu consists of soup, sandwiches, paninis, etc and there is usually a nice selection of cakes.
The kids had a cheese toastie with a salad garnish & coleslaw (£5) and a filled ham roll (£3) along with cartons of apple juice (£1) so it’s not an expensive outing. My wife and I had Brie & Cranberry Paninis (£5.70) which were also served with a salad garnish & coleslaw. We all had a cake to finish off - sponge with icing, plain scone and paradise slice all reasonable priced between £2.20 - £2.50.
The food was very good (and inexpensive by today’s standards) and the staff serving were local and very pleasant so it’s easy to recommend. I’m sure it has quiet moments at times.
Esperamos volver a comer aquí pronto.
Left a similar review before but the lamb rara gosht here is quite simply the best curry I have ever tasted ( and I’ve had a few ) the flavour is amazing , a must try if you visit
Sunday roast beef was beyond fantastic. Some serious talent in the kitchen produced the best roast dinner we’ve probably ever had. Nice friendly service. Celeriac roast not so much a hit with our pescatarian daughter but she loved all the accompliments. We will return.

Ordered a certain meal tonight 02/12 /2023
Talked into a full portion chicken balls as opposed to a half portion chicken balls apart from rest of order to qualify for full portion prawn. Crackers , order delivered no full portion crackers , called shop to rectify mistake and deliver missing item free of charge, rude and cheeky answer , mistake not sorted , just caused shop many years of orders as enjoyed meals , service awful
Después de regresar de Italia estábamos buscando helado de pistacho y una búsqueda de Ginesi. Me alegro mucho.

An absolute gem of a takeaway just off Victoria road. It’s the red shop beside Greggs. We had the chicken and black pudding buns that were cooked perfectly and so tasty!! Quick service as it was quiet, but would be totally willing to wait during busier times.
The food and drinks were excellent, several lunches including great soup and loads of coffee drunk over several visits. The welcome was amazing and while in the area in campsite I used their facilities as my ‘office’ several times - always a warm welcome and kind efficient service. Thank you!
Would give 2.5 if i could! Live in Balfron for couple years - the food is good if you need a quick working lunch etc but it's more like a greggs quality and selection wise, the outside looks a little like it might be special/artisan etc but it's basically morning rolls and lunches like sausage roll and chips etc. Everything I got was always ok, get what you pay for. Staff were often chatting to each other rather than chatting to you.
I just enjoyed the chorizo crumble pizza this evening down at Dunbar Harbour. This is the most authentic, best tasting sourdough crust pizza I've had anywhere in the UK. Great guys serving it up as well. They park up at the harbour Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I'll definitely return for more.
