I was just passing through at lunchtime when the hunger hit...I stopped at Sanquhar hoping to find somewhere for lunch and was not disappointed in the offerings at Harveys Cafe. Their chips are awesome...fresh, non-greasy, and with a good amount of potato filling. There is a varied choice of dishes on offer, including a couple of vegan options and an array of hot and cold drinks. The lady serving was extremely nice. It had a lovely welcoming atmosphere. If visiting Sanquhar or passing through it's worth a stop for a tasty lunch.

Was visiting Sanquhar with friends and stumbled across this cafe after asking a couple of locals to recommend a place. My friends and myself enjoyed a comprehensive menu, very pleasant service and good honest food at very reasonable prices. Just a nice wee cafe, no frills but does what it does well. Many thanks

We were looking for a takeaway for our last night in Sanquhar and had read about Harvey's from other reviews on Tripadvisor so we thought we'd give it a try. The cafe is situated just off the main street but there is very little in the way of signage to advertise it. We had heard they did fish and chips but, as the cafe is so unassuming, we had to peer through the window to see if that was the case as it just looks like a little tea room! I'm glad to say they did do fish and chips, as well as everything else you'd expect from a fish shop, as they were lovely. Portion-wise, they were slightly less than you might get elsewhere but that's not to say we weren't full after finishing them and they were cheaper than any anywhere else we've been to recently. Another plus is that they weren't swimming in grease. We can definitely recommend a visit to Harvey's if you're in the Sanquhar area.

Blink and you'll miss this place - the outside is so plain and unassuming you'll barely notice it. Situated within the bounds of a disabled car parking area the only clue it's here is a rather plain open door. Walking in reveals the counter service area and the cafe tucked away to the right hand side of the building. Everything is freshly cooked and prices are very reasonable. Our relatives (who are locals) regularly use the place and having had their fish and chips I can clearly see why. Good quality food at great prices - go on, treat yourself!

I had breakfast here after the long trip up from London - while I waited for The Crawick Multiverse to open. It was a little early, but the owner and staff were very welcoming. Warrior193.

We visited this little cafe after going to the local Multiverse mainly because it is next to the free car park in the middle of Sanquhar. It's not a fancy place, with just a few simple tables. The food was very tasty and very cheap! I had scampi and chips and my companions had fish and chips for only a few pounds each and we were all very satisfied. I'd definitely recommend it if you want a simple meal while in Sanquhar. I believe they also do takeaway.

The SWI had our Christmas Meal here this year and pre ordered. I had the turkey and trimmings which was served on a huge platter and three huge slices of turkey. Everything cooked to perfection. I took the apple strudel and ice cream - great ice cream. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered and a lovely atmosphere, and attentive serving staff who were pleased to see us and cheery.

We had a superb midweek supper here with friends in November. Bit of a trek from Dumfries but well worth the visit, and even closer to the M74 for anyone travelling up to Scotland in need of a refreshment. The haggis bites were delicious and the lamb kleftiko simply melted in the mouth. Their Chilean SB was extremely gluggable and very reasonably priced. Abbey and Jack were the best hosts. Highly recommended.

A late lunch stop off. Beautiful coffee, not an oz of fat in the pasty and a chocolate twist that I had eaten most of before I remembered to take a photo! Another quality visit. Thanks 😊
