Service really let us down today. No eggs for my partner's fry and by the time they arrived my meal was getting cold!
Food itself was as good as always fortunately.
Popped in on way back home on ferry. Ordered a latte, 2 rounds of toast (i.e 2 slices each) & a mug of hot water as we as purchasing a pack of cards. Paid ÂŁ14 plus change. Cards ÂŁ4.99, latte ÂŁ3.40 which left ÂŁ6.00 for toast & mug of hot water. The woman who served us, the senior member of staff, was rude especially when I pointed out I couldn't drink from that cup as she had handed me the mug not by the handle but by placing her fingers spread over the top of the cup where you drink. Was I overcharged for saying I couldn't drink from that cup? I don't know but what I do know is is that it was an absolute rip off especially when a round of toast on the ferry was only ÂŁ0.75. If travelling back home on Larne ferry again, wouldn't recommend buying from the cafe.
Second visit to this restaurant this summer, and will be back again, hopefully.
First time I visited I had the Roast Hake which was as good a dish as any top restaurant I’ve been to…and way less expensive!
My second visit tonight I had the Louisiana Chicken which was so good and again, the chef’s on top of his game.
We were a table of six, and the staff were great, welcoming and the food came to the table all together.
As a BYOB they need to charge a higher corkage.
Meals are way too cheap, and a 10% increase in menu prices would not be out of line.
I'd a lovely morning at Whitehead Railway Museum and Platform 3 cafe. Delicious breakfast bap with tea served on China cup and saucer. Lovely staff and food delicious. This is a great place to eat and enjoy some history about railway.
We were here with a motorhome group. 63 people had dinner on Saturday evening and several had breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I had the fish and chips which was delicious. Any feedback I got was all very positive, apart from maybe a wee bit of cream with the gateau. Well done to Carson McCartney and his team. We'll be back
Visited subway on Wednesday food was 100% sometimes I do find the staff in there can be abit scarce with the fillings but food was good. The new look is great. This is probably my 3rd visit in 2 months. Everytime I've had to ask the staff to clean out table of crumbs and sauce they don't seem to have someone free to go and clean a table once it's empty. Another thing that really bothers me is I order 3 separate meals and they put two of the subs on 1 plastic bowl why? I don't get this why would 2 people sit and hover over 1 plastic bowl makes no sense and it's been done on all 3 occasions it makes me think they don't have enough plastic bowls or they can't be bothered cleaning too many 🤔 if they could just sort out these few issues it would be a great place....possibly understaffed. I think it changed management recently so maybe not being run as well
So many afternoon teas are overloaded with sweet things but not so at this property. Excellent cup of soup to start and savoury items as well as freshly made sandwiches. Service was excellent and the surroundings atmospheric. A very pleasant afternoon tea.
Award-winning ice cream in a diverse range of innovative flavours, including rum & raisin and their signature “Poor Bear” (vanilla ice cream with delicious honeycomb nuggets).
Service is friendly and efficient.
Had a beautiful walk here today around the Forest park and then enjoyed a beautiful lunch with my family in the tea house afterwards. We all had tea and freshly prepared sandwiches or baked scones. There is also a Lovely selection of cakes to choose from , I had a slice of the chocolate fudge cake and it was beautiful. The service was quick and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Very enjoyable day! :) hope to visit again soon.
