Delicious breakfast, lots of choice from continental to full Northern Irish, also gluten free options. Service was excellent too.

Breakfast is served in Romanoffs Restaurant. There is a large selection of dishes for all tastes. The food is very good and when we were there it was help yourself to hot food which was fine. The staff are very attentive here.

Carvery on Saturday night was amazing, steak dinner on Friday night was also excellent. Staff very attentive and friendly, and always on hand when you needed them. We thought about dining out one of our nights but glad we didn't.

I went here today with my Mother and partner. After eating at the Lodge hotel many times before I thought I would give this place a try. I was not disappointed. We were served by Adam who is a credit to the business. All the staff where excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The carvery was cooked to perfection. You could have as much as you want. For starters you can have a set menu or you can go up and pick your own from the many different selections of cold and warm buffet. My only problem was I over indulged for my starters! My mother is a vegetarian and she was very well catered for and we all throughly enjoyed our meal. The whole place has a nice atmosphere and we will certainly be going again.

friendly helpful staff and generally an extensive menu, but sadly lacking in vegetarian options, most of the vegetarian options havent changed in years.

We dropped in 'on spec' for breakfast as non-residents and were very pleased with what we found. The welcome was warm, the decor is very pleasant and the 'musak' was soft and non-intrusive. We had a simple continental option and, as a detail, it was good to have gluten-free toast available - and only brought when wanted, not sitting around getting cold as in so many establishments!

Have been here a few times lately with my extended family (its dads favourite place) for sunday carvery, we even had a private function in the room as well. I prefer this carvery than the bar carvery as there is more choice but overall, both are good.

We had a table booked for 7pm on Saturday 21st October 2015 as it was a special anniversary. The carvery was very disappointing as the roast beef was well and truly cremated and the ham was dried up. The vegetables were very tired looking. I mentioned this to the chef but he wasn't really that interested. The other dishes didn't look great either. My first impression was to leave but I didn't want to spoil the evening for my husband and Grandaughter. The starters and deserts were good but the carvery let the side down. Our Grandaughter's food was excellent as it had been freshly prepared.

Difficult to score this fairly and meaningfully, as it so often is with restaurants, because we all have our personal preferences for the style of establishment and our favourite types of food. “One man’s meat is another man’s poison” is a bit extreme, but it will have to do to cover this point – we DO vary considerably! In this case, it is also a little difficult to know exactly where one is eating WITHIN an establishment that has several different eating areas with varying menus for each . . . I know we were eating at the Lodge Hotel but I only THINK we ate at “Romanoff’s Restaurant. The room we ate in was the one I used to know as “The dining room/restaurant” but I don’t recall any indication that it was signed as “Romanoff’s Restaurant” and the reception staff had verbalised our directions as “Go down there to the restaurant”. So identification remains unsure. We had visited specifically to try the Friday evening (5pm-8pm) two course buffet at £14.50 each. The waiting/serving staff were notably friendly and very attentive throughout – absolute top marks to all the dining room staff. Selection of food: We elected to have starters and main course. The starter selection was varied and my choice of creamy brie wedges with cranberry & apple chutney was very good. Starter orders are taken by serving staff and came very promptly. Top marks there. The hot buffet had a pretty fair selection of dishes but you don’t just help yourself as I had expected – you inform the (very friendly) gentleman behind the counter as to what you want and HE puts it on the plate. This is OK but I would much prefer to help myself at a buffet, so that I get exactly what I want, exactly the amount I want and put it exactly where I want it on my plate. Also, none of the dishes are in any way identified, so you have to ask about every single one of them. I really dislike that – so much more useful to have a clear label adjacent to every selection and then no time wasted in having to enquire into every dish. After half a dozen discussions, this becomes quite tedious and, particularly if other customers are waiting, actually becomes embarrassing. I am almost vegetarian but there was only one vegetarian option on display - a “Three cheese vegetarian crumble”, which I had some of. It was OK, but a little nondescript. They advertise that vegetarian options are available, but I didn’t feel like placing a special order when the whole idea of a buffet is to quickly help yourself and not have to wait or hold up your companions. I also tried a fish and bacon dish as the least “Meaty” option. But, frankly, I cannot understand why any establishment elects to put meat in their one and only fish option! Lots of people avoid meat but will eat fish, so why on earth disqualify the one and only fish dish from their very limited options – sorry, but that is absolutely crazy. Sadly, the bacon flavour overpowered the fish and I found several horrid lumps of solid bacon fat lurking in the sauce and, to me, that is stomach-turning. The side dishes were absolutely fine, but could not compensate for how I felt about the fish having that horribly fatty bacon in it. So to repeat, extremely difficult to score this experience FAIRLY. More traditional/conservative eaters might well have scored it four or five star. Unfortunately, for what was available, I thought it rather overpriced and not to my particular taste. So only three stars and, a couple of notes to “Norma W”, Don’t take this too badly – you can’t please all the people all the time! But, please, seriously consider at least having one fish dish that isn’t ‘adulterated’ with meat. :-)

Despite it being a national holiday the restaurant was able to provide a limited but very acceptable choice of food. We chose the carvery which had a delicious breast of turkey as the main meat. Fish, pork casserole and a few others were available.Helpings were generous and the trimmings included mini sausages, a selection of veg, roast and mash potatoes and a good selection of salads. They were served in a very generous and friendly way.

We went on a Friday night having enjoyed the "Early Bird" menu in the past. This re-newed version did not have bread and butter and tea/coffee included and the price had gone up, but the carvery was excellent. We often share a starter and pudding and each have a main course. This gives a really good three-course meal costing £29 for two, but we only drank water. The choice at the carvery suited us well with everything from roast beef, roast pork, salmon, sea bass and some lovely vegetarian options. The vegetables were good and included sweet potato chips and other unusual combinations. I chose far too much and had to leave some, rather as I would have done as a teenager! A very enjoyable evening meal.

2 course buffet with the best selection of food we have ever had on a Carvery. It's like a help yourself A La Carte Buffet. Superb.

Went here with my mother in law for lunch. We had not booked but were able to get a table no problem even though it was busy. We were seated promptly. I opted for the a la carte while my mother in law had the carvery. The waitress kindly advised us to wait for a few minutes before going to the carvery so we were eating together, well we timed it perfectly, just as we arrived back from the carvery with my mother in laws food, the waitress had arrived with my food.Good choice in the carvery of roast, pie, curry etc. then salad bar with a range of options. My fellow diner enjoyed her meal. I opted for strip and dip, chicken strips with garlic fries. Good portion of chicken and while there was a good portion of fries they were swimming in melted butter with limited garlic. Overall the bill was reasonable (senior carvery for one course was £6.50, and the strip and dip £10). Thug service was good considering it was so busy.

We went along to the Lodge Hotel to view an exhibition of photographs by a local deceased press photographer who was a friend of ours. The images were on sale for charity. We had been to a wedding reception in the hotel last summer and on this occasion decided to try out Romanoffs restaurant. The whole experience was very satisfying. There was an early bird menu and this was just what we needed. There was a good selection on the two course menu and there was pleasant efficient service. We look forward to a further visit.

Went to the Bistro at the Lodge Hotel on Friday night last. There were 3 of us for a family meal. The place was busy but we managed to get a table to our liking. The bistro itself is very bright and not much atmosphere as it was like dining in a school canteen! The staff were friendly enough and attentive although we ordered a bottle of wine with our meal an it took ages to arrive - the waiter brought it over and left the bottle and 2 glasses on the table without pouring it or asking us to taste it! I did order a soda water with lime and was charged separately for the dash of lime which I thought was a bit much considering I was charged for the soda water and then 55p on top of that for the lime juice! The food was hot and well presented with a good size portion. I did enjoy the food but the atmosphere and service would need a little improvement.

We had out Christmas Day lunch in the Lodge Hotel and it was superb. We were welcomed with mulled wine and this was followed by a super five course lunch. The startes table groaned with all sorts of goodies and we could help ourselves, the main course was exceptional and the desserts table haqd an absolutely lovely selection waiting to tempt even the fussiest appetite. The tables were beautifully laid out with top line crackers and tasteful Christmas Decorations. There was even live music and Santa paid a visit. Although very busy the staff were pleasant and attentive, nothing was too much bother. This is the secob=nd year we have had our Christmas Day lunch at the Lodge, and although 2012's lunch was very good. 2013 surpassed it. Attention to detail was obvious. A really lovely day but you do need to book in advance

Came here with some family for the Tea Time Treat menu one evening. The service was very prompt and the meals arrived in a timely fashion. All of our group enjoyed the food and each had generous portions. We all opted for the desert over the appetizer and were glad we did. Banoffee was great - highly recommended!

Another great night in Villa. No photos of the food because everyone was so keen to get started eating. The food was excellent, the steaks cooked to perfection and the kids menu always has a great selection. A great Saturday night atmosphere with the live music and the staff were attentive as always!

Waited an hour for meals to arrive. The meal was not as hot as we would have liked. Yorkshire pudding over cooked, when cut into, it disintegrated. Service could be better, very little interaction. We ate because we were hungry and didn't want to have to wait any longer. To be fair the setting is wonderful, very clean and prices very reasonable. Disappointed.

I ordered the chicken supreme which came with a ‘block’ of dauphinois potatoes, broccoli, gravy and 2 very small pieces of chicken. It was accompanied by a purée of carrot with a hint of star anise (baby food). It was possibly the worse meal I’ve ever had. What were they thinking? £19 later. The dinner is in the bin and I shall never eat in there again.
