On arrival room wasn't ready. They were to leave a prepaid treat costing £15 a piece of dried chocolate cake.It was the dearest sweet I ever bought. When we arrived in room. As we looked out of our window in both window sills were dead flies and coffee table was filthy. Dressing table could have written your name on it . Toilet lid cracked. Empty shower gel jar left in shower. General room felt dirty. But room was spacious. The last time we stayed here we were in a smaller room but was clean. We told a member of staff and they did go up and cleaned it.To make our experience worse they told on arrival that the pool was closed too health and safety.

Upon arriving we had quite a serious cleanliness issue in our room. The guy behind reception was very apologetic and made sure it was resolved with immediate effect. Unfortunately we couldn't change rooms because the hotel was fully booked and this is what we would have preferred given the issue. We were given free drinks as an apology. We went for dinner and although we had to wait a little while before being served, I can honestly say the waitresses were super friendly and helpful. Our food was beautiful and plenty of it. Also reasonably priced. After dinner we went to the spa/pool area. This was quite disappointing. First and foremost there was nowhere for myself, my husband and grandson to get changed as other people's clothing were in the changing rooms. We ended up having to get changed in the toilet area which isn't hygienic. Upon entering the pool, I noticed a used corn plaster sitting at the steps of the pool. The pool area is very small. Whilst in the pool I noticed people walking in and out of the sauna/pool area in outdoor shoes which was worrying. In the end we had to get out because my grandson cut his toe on a sharp tile. I asked the girl at reception for a plaster and although she was very helpful I was surprised she didn't ask how or where it happened and didn't take note of it. We then went to the outside bar area which is a very pleasant spot to sit in with TVs playing music videos and outdoor heating. Unfortunately service was very slow. My husband asked for a gin and tonic and was given it in a half pint glass. We ordered pizza for my grandson and I have to say it was amazing! Later, at bed time, we didn't find the beds very comfortable and the pillows were quite flat. The following morning we enjoyed breakfast. Good selection of hot food, fruit, continental and cereal too. I can't see a return visit but I can say the staff and food made the experience more positive.

not very impressed as i felt like i just had a night in a nursing home while laying in a bed that felt like a brick. The room was horrible. And to top it off us with our 4 year old son were put into a room directly under a young boys football team which i didn't find very considerate towards us. pool and food we enjoyed but would never pay the money to stay again.

This was my first visit to bushtown Hotel and was a result of a recommendation from a family member who has stayed with them a few times. Reception on arrival was efficient and friendly. We had booked a double delux room and found it to be a good size, very clean with a comfortable king size bed. There was no problem in getting to sleep. We appreciated the quiet rural location. We were not disturbed by corridor noise. The breakfast was excellent. On the first morning it took the form of a buffet, but with lower numbers staying on the second morning there was an option of ordering a large or small fry. I choose the large fry and it was very filling. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was delicious. There was a two for one menu in which a starter was complimentary, being sure that it would be impossible to sleep if we ate so much we were unable to take advantage of it. There were a couple of small issues which were quickly attended to when we spoke to reception. We stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday nights, and would certainly do so again.

POOR AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE First time staying here, (and last) supposed to check in at 4 pm, didn't get our room key till 4.45 even at that when we got to the room, housekeeping were still there, we had to wait a further 10 mins. My husband had booked me a treatment, which was at 4pm, when I went to the spa area, I was told the appointment wasn't until the next day, apparently reception didn't send them an email untill that day, even though my husband had contacted the spa separately on our day of stay to confirm, communication is terrible. Food in the restaurant, although, was beautiful, good service. Hotel lobby and restaurant were well decorated but room was not up to same standard, very basic and minimal, no robes. When we checked out the following morning, the receptionist didn't even ask how our stay was, all we got was "what's your room number", even though the number was on the card.

First family meal with my elderly mum since lockdown. Picked Bushtown as somewhere different and expecting an excellent meal as a well established hotel. We were there from about 6-7pm and it was very quiet, which, had we read reviews prior to booking, we would have realised why. Food actually looked good when it came out, but the goujons were in a really greasy chewy batter my mum wasn't able to eat and others didn't like so they peeled batter off. The 'steak and mushroom pie' was basically pieces of fried beef (NO MUSHROOMS!) in packet gravy in a bowl with a piece of dried up cooked puff pastry (NOT pie at all!) with a tiny spoon of mashed slapped on the side! One positive...My son enjoyed his garlic fries! Desert.... we should have said NO, but mum wanted pavlova, and thought they could pull it back with this.... NOPE! Meringue was stale and rock hard, & banoffe pie was just stodgy caramel on biscuit, and looked like it had been ran over, thrown out and picked back out of bin with 3 slices of banana threw on it. When waitress came to ask if we were finished I said that the deserts were really disappointing, which was obvious when still on plates. She was unconcerned and took them away mumbling something ?? Tell kitchen....(this waitress was particularly dry, verging on rude anyway, though the other girl with dark hair and guy were lovely and friendly!NO-ONE CAME BACK....so after over 5 mins we went to find someone to pay. Must have been manager in suit that gave us bill at exit. My sister again mentioned that the deserts were unedible. He said he would mention it to pastry chef. NO apology. We paid the full bill, though didn't leave a tip and definitely will NOT BE BACK!I am so annoyed that I felt compelled to write this review! It says on Trip Advisor that this restaurant is closed, and perhaps it SHOULD BE!

Having enjoyed the Bushtown's carvery in the past, we were looking forward to another nice meal. Unfortunately things have changed at the Bushtown, and not for the better. Their coronavirus measures are poor, especially in comparison to other places we have been. We had booked a couple of weeks in advance yet the table we were offered was right next to the queue for the carvery which was very long with people queuing far too close together. When I complained we were offered an alternative table in a separate room - why were they not using it to start with? Entrance and exit was also a problem with the same door being used for both. A sign said to use the other door on exit but it was locked when we were there. There were nowhere near enough staff for the number of people in the dining room.In terms of the food, they were no longer serving cold starters, just soup which was watery and tasteless. The roast meats (no beef the night we were there, just turkey, ham and pork) and potatoes were plentiful and tasty but the cauliflower and broccoli cheese was hard and inedible. The puddings which had been to die for were the biggest disappointment. None of the desserts were homemade and there was very little choice, just cheesecake, trifle or fresh fruit salad with a measly amount of ice cream. Given the other options out there, the Bushtown seriously needs to up its game if it wants to keep its customers. We certainly are in no hurry to return....

Went to the Carvery to celebrate my exam results. When we entered we waited about 5 minutes for a floor staff member to take us to our seats (there were 2 staff members beside the entrance who just stared at us and said looking at one of the floor staff "they'll deal with you", I don't know why the 2 bar staff couldn't have at least said hello, how are you or attempted to help) Anyway we got seated at our table in the middle of chaos. If you want to social distance DO NOT COME HERE. Piles of people lined up beside our table waiting for food, people not standing behind some floor tape and it is probably the most disorganised place about Coleraine area. When we were seated we had no explanation on how to order or anything (we had to work it out ourselves of where you are meant to go for starters) the waitress asked for any drinks and for all we knew that would be the last interaction we would have with that girl. There were only 2 staff members on the floor in the Carvery dealing with what looked like 40 tables! It was a joke, As i waited in a long que for the starter/dessert table managed by one girl staff member (who should get an award for the amount of work she was doing by herself serving soup then trying to serve someone else dessert) with a line about 12 people cramped together beside our table I was looking forward to try their vegetable soup. Well, if you want very bland, unseasoned vegetables dropped in warm water this is the place for you. Very disappointing, to make matters worse our starter, mains and dessert plates were all left on the table taking up space and looking very unclean because of the lack off staff dealing with tables and ensuring customer service is at at least average. IT WAS TERRIBLE, my dad would've like some wine with his dinner, my mum would've liked another drink to go with her main meal but the waitresses were running around like headless chickens and our table and many others were never approached again. IT WAS A DISGRACE, the carvery itself had nice turkey, ham, pork and cocktail sausages although if you want really hard potatoes and vegetables that taste like their skin is still on them come here to the Bushtown. The desserts which was very limited to just cheesecake and tart tasted nice but what a small dessert menu. There is such an unpleasant atmosphere with country music playing in the background whilst trying to enjoy and stomach a roast dinner is just ridiculous, their music choice for dinner makes no sense. Management in this hotel NEED to reorganise their Calvary and hire more staff as my experience here was AWFUL and I WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN. There was a huge lack of respect for customer well-being and customer service. Social distancing is horrific here and it would not surprise me if the Bushtown Hotel is closed down due to coronavirus cases as social distancing and safety is 100% not being adhered to within this restaurant. I have never had such an unpleasant experience in all my life and if i was you reading this as someone anticipating to going here, frankly don't ,there is far nicer food places to eat nearby including the Lodge Hotel, Yoko (chinese), McDonalds, Subway and Newbridge not overly far from this establishment. As my family scrapped our starter, mains and desserts plates into a pile at the side of the table (to help out the only 2 waitresses on the floor) we breathed a sigh of relief that we could finally get our bill from the bar and go home.

We went to the Bushtown Hotel Carvery for somewhere different. We were not disappoint in anyway. Because we were senior citizens we got a discount. A five course Sunday Lunch cost only £16 50 each. The choice you get you could make it into a six course if you were to take small helpings with the starter. The main course I can't describe it. The section of meats is so big it takes time to decide what you want and the selection of veg is the same. When it comes to deserts it is the same. Coffee or Tea is served downstairs where you can sit and relax for a while before you leave. We would recommend this place to everyone especially if you are a senior citizen. They also do a two courses for £11.50.

I must clarify that I did not stay at the hotel, just went for the carvery.I would go The Bushtown Hotel at least once every week for the carvery. I was always happy with the meals and the variety of meats and home-made stews etc. on offer.I was there on the 29th October 2019 and the meal was inedible. Staff were constantly talking about a new chef who had started and how he was bring new ideas and menus. They said he had worked in places like the Europa and a few other top restaurants. After the meal I found that hard to believe because he was unable to cook roast beef and even sausages. Maybe that is why he no longer works in top restaurants.Rather than judge them on this one bad meal, we decided to try them the following week. On the menu was roast beef again, the chef carved the beef which looked like a cheap cut of meat while there was a better-looking cut sitting In front of it. I did not see this being used while we were there. The beef was like chewing rubber. Again, there was stuffed sausage on offer which was not cooked properly. I left the majority of my meal and complained to a young waitress who said she would pass on our complaints. We have since spoke to others who were also unhappy with their meals. The following week we went to The Royal Court and got an excellent meal even though they had workmen in disrupting the main restaurant areas. We ate in the bar area and it was superb.Tuesday the 19th November we tried the Lodge Hotel and again we had an excellent meal and desert. The roast beef was tasty and broke apart when you cut it. Lovely.Bushtown would need to up their game if they want to keep loyal customers.

Hubby and me decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch and go to bushtown hotel. Reception staff were great at getting us sorted for a table. Here is how my Sunday lunch treat went. Starters - soap veg soup / tomato & basil - i had tomato & basil a bit cold and watery. Would not recommend. Mains - asked for a slice of stuffed pork. He cut me the thick end and put it on my plate. No other hotels have done this. It was too thick fir me to eat. Like rubber. he asked if i wanted anything else. I asked for another slice of pork. He cut me the slimmest slice of neat i ever seen. Like paper thin. I then got some veg which was plentiful to fill up the plate. Also got a large sausage. No cocktail sausages. Roast potatoes heated too long and these were like mini rocks. Whilst i was getting veg a lady came out with hot water and put it into the gravy to make it last. Wonderful. Deserts - a good selection of deserts. Had to try and put my small piece of pavlova into a small cereal bowl. Tea/coffee/biscuits - coffee was cold and could have been refreshed. A small handful of biscuits on a plate which is unhygienic as anyone could touch them. Thought there would have been a small mint in paper on a plate. Very disappointed with food. I wish i had made my own.

Utterly disgusted with this paid £35.00 for 2 x adults for a 2 x soups and 2 x desserts. The queues for the carvery were ridiculous. extremely slow and as my husband is disabled he could not have stood for that length of time to get his dinner. Every time my husband got up to enter the queue more people arrived so he had to sit back down, we never got the carvery, and had 2 desserts instead. absolute waste of time. The part holding everyone up was the serving of the vegetables. Disabled access door on the side of the hotel from car park was locked and the lift is down a long corridor, not ideal for disabled people. Wont be back in a hurry

Called in to the Bushtown for tea today as they normally have an early bird menu but when we were being seated we were told that there was only a la carte.Having a look at the menu we were surprised firstly at the choice and secondly the prices. I ordered a burger and chips and my husband took the cod and chips. The meal didn't take long to arrive but first of all my burger came on the smallest chopping board which I hate for hygiene reasons and my chips in a little wire basket I don't know how they were cooked but they were awful inedible. My husband's fish had a gooey batter and the same terrible chips. What has happened in the Bushtown it used to be a great place for a meal Definitely won't be back sorry.

Never ever again will I be going to this restaurant, absolutely awful! We ordered a meal off the menu and the waiter had to come back to us 5 seperate times to tell us what we had ordered wasn’t available. When they eventually took our order, my wife who is vegetarian, was first giving a starter with ham sprinkled on top and then her main was a ham and turkey pie instead of vegetable. In the end we just paid for our drinks and left without eating the meal. Although the waiting staff were pleasant the manager was surly and had very poor customer service skills. The only reason we went there was because we had some free vouchers given to us by the hotel because the carvery the month before was so absolutely appalling. I wouldn’t bother going here it’s truly awful, stay away!

The steak sandwich came with chips but some of the party wanted to change this side to sweet potato fries but this was denied.. yet others could order these freely. A jug of orange was ordered mid meal and never arrived.. another tables food order was delivered to us by mistake and then retrieved promptly..desserts took forever to arrive and only did so after a repeat request for them. Visited yesterday for the carvery and was amazed at how much this has gone downhill since my last visit. Pork was so tough it couldn't even be chewed, roast potatoes were either sitting all morning or heated from the day before and yorkshire pudding was like a piece of leather. Two choices of veg, carrots and sweetcorn?? Only decent thing on the carvery were the mashed potatoes. Hate leaving a negative comment but the chef needs to up his game as the was one of the worst meals ever.

Such a disappointment. Lovely place and friendly staff, however the carvery meal was shocking and will not return. As a family party of 12 we pre booked. Arrived to find only one meat available when informed there should be three. The carvery accompaniments had seen better days, the potato server(ice cream scoop) was sitting at the bottom of the gravy tray and nothing was labelled for allergy info. For example fish goujons which looked like chicken was sitting between vegetables, with only one person periodically serving to provide information (daughter has a fish allergy). The dessert table looked like an war zone, with literally no desserts left it was all splattered over the table cloth and being served from plastic trays or bowls. They did provide us with a voucher for a return trip when we complained, stating we should have told someone, however the point is that they we shouldn’t have to it was clearly evident to see. Will not return to this carvery.

As a regular to the Sunday carvery I have to admit I was on the verge of giving up due to a rude and chaotic receptionist coupled with silly downstairs check in process which was frustratingly disastrous also. But on a wing and a prayer rang at short notice today and got a delightful mannerly response from not the usual receptionist. So decided to give it one last go. Upon arrival first relief was no downstairs checkin. Upstairs even better, greeted by Beth i think her name was, a very pleasant young girl with the right personality for the hospitality industry.

The bed itself was not the usual hotel king size but a small double. What looked like a cigarette burn in the carpet and a view of a brick wall. Despite the room hotel guide which said room service was provided there was no telephone in the room!! However we did not complain because it was a very cheap 2 night stay. But then came the breakfast which was basically what I can only describe as barely warm- especially the coffee. On our first night an alarm was activated which lasted for an ear piecing 20mins. We could not phone reception to find out what was happening so I had to hurriedly dress after my shower and go to the desk. We had to leave our room on the advice of reception staff. Dinner on the first night was fine. On our second night there was a power cut! We were told on arrival that dinner was available until 8.25-8.30pm so on the second night we arrived for dinner at 7.55pm to be told the kitchen was closed because of the power cut which lasted about 5mins. We explained we were guests and asked to speak the manager who went into the kitchen - we were then immediately given a table. When our meal arrived it was totally inedible! My chicken was so over-cooked it was actually tough. The bacon mash had burnt bits of cabbage or bacon in it - hard to tell what it was! My hubbys chips arrived with burnt pieces and his Scampi was very over cooked as well. When paying the bill he mentioned this to the waitress and we were not charged for the food -which was very much appreciated. On our last day we left the hotel at 9.15am actually glad to be going home! There may be better refurbished rooms in the hotel so avoid Room 1!

My husband and I had lunch there, there was a self service / carvery menu. They make you pay in advance, just as well they do otherwise they may not get paid. Bread was stale, some of the salad I had to spit out as it did taste foul and out of date. Bread was stale. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were an insult to the palate. When the waitress called around to ask if everything was ok, I said I would give 2/10 discreetly and she shouted "2 out of ten!!" really embarrassing me.

Food was great in the restaurant and a large cooked breakfast was offered in the morning.

We ate here as a party of 4. The couple we were with eat here regularly and highly recommended it and after the food we were served here I can see why. The chicken and steak with pepper sauce and a side of chilli and sour cream fries were out of this world. I would go as far as to say they are the best in the triangle area. The steaks were all cooked perfectly. The desert was also really good. The atmosphere and service were also excellent. This will definitely be a place we visit regularly from now on.

Room 4 is a small room with twin beds with blankets and sheets rather than a duvet. The dressing table is worn and in need of refurbishment. Bathroom is basic with shower over bath. Heating was great, lovely and warm the entire time. Flat screen tv with good variety of channels. Tea and coffee tray with biscuits. The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner is outstanding. The staff are all pleasant and efficient. The swimming pool area needs painted, new tiles, new railing at the very least. At £59 per night per room it is good value but as I don't like blankets on beds I won't stay again. I will certainly visit the restaurant.

Sadly to say we visited this Hotel for Christmas Lunch it was absolute chaos. I have never found the need to complain about a meal before, but after paying approximately £700 for our table of 14 guests I feel I need do something. First, on arrival, we were told by reception we had to queue this took 30 minutes. At the dining room, we directed by a member of staff who pointed to the direction for us to find our table and told look for the one with 14 seats at it. In fairness the food was ok. It took ages for the staff to bring soft drinks to our table. In my opinion, the Hotel was overbooked and could not cope. I certainly will not be back at Bushtown anytime soon.

Having attended a large Christmas function at the Bushtown Hotel Restaurant in 2016, I was so delighted with the quality of food and service I booked the restaurant for a special function the following July. The Manager, Kieran was readily available with good advice regarding the arrangements. I was not to be disappointed on the night as the food and service surpassed the high standard, experienced previously. Tables were dressed to perfection. Waiting staff were efficient, good humoured and courteous. I would also like to offer my appreciation to the Chef and kitchen staff, for the delicious hot food, with the emphasis on 'hot' especially the mashed potatoes which is no mean feat (rarely achieved when catering to large numbers). The empty plates said it all. A great team who made it so easy for me and that is everything when you need a function to go well, which it did.

Had a great weekend. I was part of a wedding party. Hotel tired but spotless. Food good, the breakfast was nice but on a personal level missed porridge. Stayed in room 37 which would recommend, as someone was playing in the lounge area, and you are well away if you want a good night's sleep. Room 2 is to be avoided on ground floor facing car park and near lounge. The only disappointment I had plates served piping hot but by the time the food arrived they were cold.

Very busy understaffed restaurant. Looks like the owner is trying to take advantage of younger staff. Upon arrival we thought we entered a time machine to the 80s as the decor is not modern at all. They only do a carvery for lunch which we didn't realise before hand but tried it anyway. My wife and I opted for 2 courses for £8.50. I had soup and she had salad to start (a decent range for the salads. Good choice of mains from roast beef to gammon to peppered chicken. Only thing was that there was no chips or rice if you went with the alternative options. All in all the food was grand and at the price point very good. Staff were friendly and the decor was OK but perhaps a little tired.I'm sure we will be back for a spot of lunch again and have recommended my parents to try it in the mean time.

We went to Bushtown Hotel because we had heard good reports about the food. As it is my birthday today 19th my husband I decided to take r 3 grandchildren aged 13, 9 and 8 for lunch should have done our homework did not realise it was a Carvery and as my youngest grandchild is a fussy eater we would not have made the journey from Whitehead. We arrived a bit late about 2.50pm and the Carvery ended at 3.00pm we were not advised the Restaurant itself opened at 3.00 and as we were in no hurry we would have opted for that. Found staff not very friendly or fore coming every thing was hurried food just ok but my youngest child ended up with just turkey and two bread rolls very very disappointing know we were late coming in but we would definitely waited on the Restaurant pity about the staff not a bit friendly.

Lunch with a friend have been doing this for past few years. Food disappointing and limited choice. Chef must have been changed as food was not up to usual standard of texture and taste. Desserts were disappointng as well. Felt let down. However on the bright side when my friend dropped the cup of tea and her traybake due to her jerking conditions staff replaced both immediately and ensured she was ok at no extra cost. Hope to be back end of month again and hopefully get a better quality of chef and meal.

An average experience with some plus points. A family group attended the Sunday carvery with 3 small children. Three courses for an adult 16.95 for the children 8. I would say for older children who eat a wide range of foods this represents decent value, for small children who eat very little (amount and variety of food) it doesn't. It would be helpful to have a small alternative children's menu as many other hotels offer alongside their carvery/main menu. As for the adult carvery, there is plenty of choice, especially starters and desserts, which were good, the main course was ok, meat tended to be a bit tough, beef very tough, and veg overdone. It's standard carvery fare, and would appeal to those who value quantity, even though its not particularly cheap considering the number of good restaurants round the coast now operating excellent menus with 3 courses for the price of a main. Overall quality, particularly in the main courses was not brilliant. Then again, I am probably not a carvery fan and prefer a meal cooked to order, but have experienced better......

So..we have just had a Mothers Day lunch in the packed restaurant. In sad circumstances because my father has just passed away. The staff there know us reasonably well and we were welcomed and looked after in a way which was , frankly , unbelievable. My heartfelt thanks to everyone but in particular Kevin. I will never forget his kindness. But that aside , the reason we returned was the quality of the infamous Bushtown Sunday carvery lunch. We were able to chose from an array of smoked salmon , seafood and other starters before tackling a huge choice of very well prepared roast meats and accompaniments. Given that we were eating quite late on in the day , it is worth mentioning that everything was in plentiful supply and as freshly prepared as I am sure it was for the early diners. That's a rare thing for carvery lunches these days. The choice and quality of puddings also beggared belief. It's a good job for my waistline I don't live near here ! We'll be returning shortly if only to avail of the home cooked scampi ( a la carte ) which is the best I have eaten. I can't finish , however , without recommending the quality of the Guinness which is served in the downstairs bar by Brendan. I only drink pints of Guinness when " at home " in Ireland and if you have one of Brendan's pints you'll know why. Thanks everyone.

Hungry after battling the wind at Castlerock Golf Club four of us repaired to Bushtown for a meal. At £11:95 for 2 courses was excellent value.Three Caesar salads and one garlic bread were ordered as starters and cod, chicken goujons, chicken burger and penne chicken and mushroom pasta for main courses with a few sides of chips.Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My chicken and mushroom penne pasta dish tasted absolutely delicious. Now retired I frequented this restaurant when on business in the Coleraine area. I visited this Hotel again this weekend. The staff are very friendly- it's an old style hotel. The rooms are fine nothing flash in them. The leisure centre only stays open until 5.30 on Saturdays- and the pool was unavailable for most of the afternoon due to swimming lessons. The restaurant is nice - food is very tasty. The restaurant staff don't seem to have a section or area and seem to be milliing around. I got served by 3 different people. The WiFi is very poor here as is phone signal. Ideally situated for Coleraine.

Me and my partner tried this passing through. From outside looks really lovely, has a nice handy location just outside coleraine. Suited us travelling back to Magherafelt after the cinema at the jet centre. This place has so much potential... but sadly our food was awful, cold lacked basic seasoning which in this day and age I thought was simple to remember... As we arrived after Christmas on the Friday 30th December around 7ish. We were greeted by a lovely person at reception who directed us where to eat. We stood as the bar maid eye balled us cause signs showed 'please wait tonbe seated' She came to us and said u wanie eat here... take a seat anywhere' ... lovely welcome. We sat no drink orders or menus were taken for at least 10minutes. When she did our drinks were slammed on the table ... by which i asked the waitress was she ok cause I for one did not want to start our meal if she was in bad mood. Anyway,Starter came actually wasnt too bad but still lacked basic seasoning. Lots of salt and pepper added. Starter plates sat for a while till someone came neaar us to lift. My main was ok... however my partner who ordered the lamb in a red currant reduction that had drown the poor lamb. Far too much added. The baby potatoes were under cooked and the lamb was very badly over cooked despite being ordered medium. Partner didnt want to eat it so he ate mine. We were made to feel too awkward to complain plus not one waitress or waiter was on the floor the whole time we ate it. The girl who served it very swifty placed our plates down and glabced at her phone as she went to the kitchen again. Not returning till we were sat 10-15mins after finishing/giving up. I wanted to order dessert with coffees for both myself and my partner to salvage what was suppose to be a romantic date night. Their banofee was fine, their cheesecake grand. Then their coffees were rotten. No where near made correctly. At the end of our meal, the loveliest man appeared which we wondered where he'd been all meal cause he knew by our faces which is vital to notice cause customers pay for a half decent meal. He said dont.worry i will knock the coffees off the bills its fine. Im so sorry. We left promptly after paying for x3 courses each minus the coffees which we didnt drink anyway and left. Am sorry for this horrible review but at the same time in this instance it needed to be said. Staff are paid for a job which many are looking for in this recetion. Be mindful and respectful to paying customers. As well as be professional. A lot of people may think waitresses is just a 'wee handy job' but its a passion to me. I love catering and hospitality as does my partner who is a chef. Final feedback: seasoning, politness, smiling, mindfulness... a little goes a long way!Oh and the lights went out half way through our meal... even tho it may have been previous weather but no one appeared to reassure the customers.

I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent lunch we had there as I had heard some not-so-good reports about it. Our meal was excellent, plates and food were all piping hot. The service was perhaps a little slow, but as there were approx 60 in our party, and we were in no hurry, it did not deter from the quality of the food. We had a most enjoyable meal.

Visited one evening this week while on a short visit from England to see my folks who leave about 5 miles from this restaurant. Had been before for the Sunday carvery which I remember being very popular and very good in terms of portion size , variety , quality and value. But this was our first visit midweek and eating a la carte , having become disillusioned with the nearby ( and probably better known ) Brown Trout. Service from our waitress and the barman was impeccable. Variety of choice on the menu very good. Food was also very good , the only observation being that our mains were served almost simultaneously to our starters being cleared ( usually diners prefer a few minutes between courses ) , and the only complaint being that my £17.50 sirloin , ordered medium rare . was served medium well to well done. Three quarters through eating it the meat was bone dry. Which was a shame because I know the butcher who supplies this restaurant and their steaks are to die for. I did draw this to the waitress's attention and nine times out of ten I would have been offered a replacement but here I wasn't. In normal circumstances I would have sent it back but I stupidly persevered. Having said that they removed the cost of our starters from the bill ( equiv to half the steak cost ). But aside from that my parents had beautifully cooked and huge scampi and all the side dishes were superb. And the barman took time to get me pints of Guinness from a tap which had been pouring all day ( meaning the pints were good ). We'll go back for sure ... the warm welcome and engagement by the aforementioned lovely staff made sure of that ... but I will take extra care next time to emphasise how I want my steak cooked and if it is not done properly it will go back to the kitchen !

I ordered the chicken supreme which came with a ‘block’ of dauphinois potatoes, broccoli, gravy and 2 very small pieces of chicken. It was accompanied by a purée of carrot with a hint of star anise (baby food). It was possibly the worse meal I’ve ever had. What were they thinking? £19 later. The dinner is in the bin and I shall never eat in there again.

Waited an hour for meals to arrive. The meal was not as hot as we would have liked. Yorkshire pudding over cooked, when cut into, it disintegrated. Service could be better, very little interaction. We ate because we were hungry and didn't want to have to wait any longer. To be fair the setting is wonderful, very clean and prices very reasonable. Disappointed.
