I felt so bad that I eat a lot less than I used to, and had to apologise for leaving half the plate.
Because their burger was delicious. The beef must be Aberdeen Angus, the bacon cooked perfectly and not chewy, loads of cheese, plenty of crispy tobacco onions and a generous portion of peppercorn sauce.
The skinny fries were crisp outside and fluffy inside, neither dry nor soggy.
My wife is coeliac so needs gluten free and there was a good choice for her. She chose the chicken stack which had plenty of peppercorn sauce. Only the onions were changed to plain fried instead of tobacco.
We were so full we didn't chance dessert so can't comment on that.
Warm atmosphere and service was prompt and friendly. Prices were as expected.
£3.95 for a cup of cappuccino???????
Nothing special about it
Evening menu ??
Price seems to go up exponentially according to the number of descriptive and foreign words used!!!!!
Our favourite restaurant, best to book . But the manager always can find room for us. The service is fabulous and we have never had a bad experience yet over the years we have been going :)

we were very disapponted, as stayed there previously a few years back.
Booked two seperate rooms--one room key was very difficult to open and close-the other did not open at all so had to change room. Rooms were very cold and hot water took about 5 minutes to warm up. Basically the whole place needs refurbishment. We did not expereience food as the restaurant was not open and then had to leave by an emergency exit next morning as the front door was all locked up. The one working lady staff employee was very helpful.
Just back from a long weekend in Portballintrae and we ate here twice over the weekend. The hot buffet on Friday evening was superb with a choice of at least six dishes with accompliments. Sunday carvery was excellent, well cooked food and service with a smile. In my opinion you will not be disappointed but I would suggest you do book, especially for Sunday.
