Very very disappointed with my experience. I attended a formal here last night and the service was abysmal in regard to the food. Firstly, I am going to begin with saying I have a severe allergy (eggs specifically), and the venue was notified of the guests dietary requirements prior to the event. I was expecting them to make the required preparations as other establishments ive been to have made in the past, but this was not the case. The food started to come late first of all, and there seemed to be no organisation with waiters. I notified my waiter for the starter about my allergy and she said she would check about the soup. (Options were soup or melon). Once back, she just served me melon without a word before i asked ‘was the soup not okay?’ To which she replied ‘i dont think so’. This gave me the impression she didnt even bother checking, as if she had checked, she would have known. I ate the melon because I trusted her judgement anyways and didnt want to take chances with the soup. Then the main course, a waiter came round and took a list of allergies at tables, i thought ‘okay brilliant they’ll know an egg allergy is at this table’. No. I was disappointed yet again. No waiter had acknowledged my allergy and I had to ask twice if the main course was okay for me (different waiters again), one who came back with ‘it should be’. This answer was not very comforting as my allergy is quite severe and i cant risk my life on an ‘it should be’. Luckily, I had epipens and medication in the case of anaphylaxis however, I prefer to avoid using these at all costs as they are expensive and when used require a trip to hospital. Next I had to ask about the gravy as not many know egg white powder can be used in it, i asked yet again to a different waiter, who never came back. Half my dinner was cold due to the disorganisation of how the food was presented to guests (waiters walking around with trays of different parts of the meal). I ate my dinner dry because i never heard back about the gravy and was getting very fed up at this point. After this, the dessert options were asked by a waiter who was aware of my allergy, i knew neither of the options i could have so I had said ‘sorry due to my egg allergy I wont be able to have any of those’. The reply to which i was disgusted with, an ‘okay sorry’ and the waiter moved on. No option for an alternative even though they were aware before the event?? At this point i was very very upset and ready to leave. It was only when a different young male waiter (i never got his name but he was the only one very respectfully accommodating to me). He asked which dessert I ordered and i replied to him ‘i had said while ordering i had an egg allergy and i was not given an alternative option’ he saw my distress and was very quick to getting me sorted and offered me vegan ice cream, I was very appreciative of his service and his only. The rest of the night was good but it was dampened by the establishments lack of organisation and accommodation to dietary needs. I would suggest for the future for them to implement an allergy policy or a better one atleast. Also they need to properly train their waiters and assign them to tables rather than have them run around like headless chickens for another event like this. I spent a lot of money to attend this event and did not get my moneys worth. Safe to say i wont be back again and definitely not recommending to others. I expected better from an establishment with such a high reputation.

Have been at carvery dinner today with wife. And what an experience. We were waiting to be seated and along comes a waiter overloaded with plates etc from a table and bang - dropped the whole lot at my feet and waste food and ice cream was everywhere. She never apologised but went and got a cloth to clean my clothes which was covered to my knees. Again no apology. So I spoke to reception to advise them and then a manager came and spoke at our table and asked what had happened and she then asked me to forward them the dry cleaning bill. I said if it couldn’t be sorted today whilst there then I would not be wasting my time doing that. She said that it would be sorted today so I assumed all was ok. Her name was Louise. So when we finished eating had to go looking for bill and was kept waiting so I assumed something was being sorted. I was reached the bill and yes - full price. But I was then told that reception would sort it out. I came to them and reached them the bill and paid the full amount and asked where was our discount to cover that dry cleaning? I was told there wasn’t any. As a customer of many times for many years I will be in no rush back. The food is usually good but the whole thing was destroyed by bad attitude. Score for today overall is -10

It has been a few years since I have had the pleasure of dining in this hotel and I had forgotten just how good it is. We were out for a ramble along the coast and I had pre booked for lunch to avoid disappointment. We secured a table by the window which has stunning views of the coast and golf course. We decided on fish and chips which sounds quite basic but the fish was amazing. It melted in the mouth and was perfect. The service was brilliant and faultless throughout. At all times we felt we could enjoy our lunch in a safe and relaxed environment.

This is a restaurant with an exceptional view out over the coast and sea. Although it was busy possibly because of eat out to help out, numbers were limited because of covid19 restrictions. We had from the carvery, where there was a fairly wide choice. With the air conditioning and ventilation we did feel cold and our food very quickly cooled too. The food was good. Hotel location tough to beat with great views of the area and easy access to the beach The room itself was spacious however no air con so our nights sleep wasn’t great. Shower was either boiling hot or ice cold which didn’t help Food was average at best. Presentation was poor. Wife got Brie and mushrooms which were over fried and lacked real flavour, carvery was decent but we’ve had better, desserts like a school dessert Staff however where top notch and couldn’t have done enough. Would I be back.....probably not.

We came here for my in laws 50th Wedding Anniversary this weekend. It was more casual than we’d expected, we were very dressed up but others were dressed very casual so just a tip! We got a table in the window so great views over the ocean. Our waiter was great & very knowledgeable about what was gluten free and when my mother in law said I was as awkward he replied by saying he was vegan too!! This gave me a lot of confidence in his advice on what I could eat! Although I’m vegan, the salad bar & carvery look really good, lots of choice. Around the table my family had chicken Cesar salad, prawn cocktail & nachos to start & all were really pleased with these choices. I had melon with a fruit coulis which was delicious, just wish it had been a bigger portion. The main course food came out super quick, literally seconds after our starter dishes were cleared which makes me think it was already cooked & reheated not cooked to order but I could be wrong? I’ve worked in the catering industry so would be very surprised if it was cooked to order with the speed it came out. For my vegan main I chose a sweet potato & coconut curry with rice. It was ok but there wasn’t much sweet potato & it was a basic curry sauce made with curry powder. The coconut was desiccated coconut in the sauce. The only other component was onion. Nice taste but very basic. There were no gluten free vegan dessert options but a couple of gluten free desserts so ok if you’re just gluten free. There is was no dairy free milk available for coffee so I had to have mine black.Although we booked our table for 7pm, the whole place was empty when we left & we moved to the bar as felt a bit in the way as the staff were setting up the tables either for a function or for breakfast. By 8pm the whole place was empty!! This was a meal for a very special occasion but we felt a bit rushed if I’m honest & even though we were a table of 8, we were finished by 8pm!! I didn’t really feel this place was as upmarket as my in laws had expected but it was ok. I don’t think we would rush back but we couldn’t fault the food - just the vegan option were very bland/ basic but at least there was choice & not just one option for me, as long as you like curry or pasta anyway!! Sorry I didn’t take any good pictures, we didn’t have time with how quick everything was delivered!! Felt more like a pub carvery that a posh hotel!

I've been to the Royal Court before and always left happy with the food and service. What a disappointment my most recent visit was. My mother, child and I had variable experiences, to be fair, with Mum enjoying her cod with lemon and dill sauce (although it looked very basic to me) and my child enjoying the chicken goujons. I ordered what was called 'seafood thermidor' which I was told came with mashed potatoes. What turned up was a bland, tasteless FISH PIE, nothing like a thermidor, which I cook on a regular basis! At £17.50, it was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, and consisted of obviously thawed frozen tiny cubes of fish and - although it said there were prawns in it - no prawns. To be honest, I could have had a tastier meal from Tesco for about £3! It was covered (drowned really) in a huge amount of mashed potato, through which you have to be really determined to dive down to reach the meagre selection of fish. My Mum informed me that the chef and menu had recently changed and, as the food was excellent before that, I think these are changes very much for the worse. We'd also ordered a couple of portions of chips, which were white, soggy and not crispy at all. To top it off, we had a debacle with a waitress about desserts. My child had selected the 'two courses' early bird menu, and had already decided what dessert she wanted. When we came to order desserts, we were given the main dessert menu, and her choice was not on it. I asked to see the original two course menu, and the waitress at first refused, saying it's the same except for that one thing that's different. I asked to see it anyway, so she brought in and, lo and behold, we found at least two different desserts! Now, it doesn't take much of an effort to just bring along the menu from which a customer has chosen their food, rather than arguing (and lying!) about it! She didn't even say sorry, and was quite rude throughout the evening. We were looked after by two other waitresses and they were lovely, but this one seemed to be having an off day to say the least. Finally, I ordered a sherry trifle for my dessert and it was awful. Again, bland and tasteless, no sign whatsoever of any sherry and the fruit obviously came from a tin. Conclusions - poor service, terrible food and, with even more choice in the Portrush area than ever before, when I visit my family who live there again I will not be returning to the Royal Court.

Stopped here after visiting the Giants Causeway. We had been in to Portrush but could not find anything open other than take away places. Advertised food all day. Good parking outside with fantastic views from the cliff top. Reception area was modern and fresh and staff very friendly, there is a hotel bar area but staff directed us to dining room. We were met and shown to table in a huge dining room area (the hotel dining room set up for dinner service). We were the only people in this huge room and it felt a little strange but within 30 mins it was very busy both with hotel guests and drop in trade. We were given the full menu and also a special offer option 2 courses for £13.95 or 3 courses for £15.95. Menu had plenty of choice. We ordered the three course option. Drinks came with a jug of water which was a nice touch. Food was homecooked, portion size was very good. Its basic food so if you want fancy dont eat here but for value for money and taste it was very good. Yes the dining room is dated in comparison with the rest of the hotel but apart from that if you want a good value meal in a lovely location with helpful friendly staff then call in. My only gripes were a) one of the waitresses was serving food with her long hair down, basic food handling hygeiene would have it tied back, b) she kept leaning accross the table to take my plate rather than walking round the table, pretty basic waitressing stuff, she was however the only one that let the rest of the staff down as they were all very good and c) the constant Beatles music on a loop! Overall very nice meal in a very nice location. Much better than anything we saw on offer in Portrush. Would stay at this hotel just from this visit alone.

We had a couple of oldies in our group, so were eating at 5pm. I thought we'd have the restaurant to ourselves, but it was jam-packed. There's a carvery up till 7pm, which is clearly incredibly popular - we couldn't hear ourselves think, and our elderly relatives found the noise extremely difficult for conversation. Great for people watching - I was entertained by the lady who arrived back at her table with a plate piled high. Before eating anything she produced from her handbag a ziplock bag and some tin foil, and decanted half of her food into it. That was her dinners for the rest of the weekend sorted...

Ate here with my wife and elderly parents. Absolutely stunning setting with clear views over the white rocks beach and Royal Portrush golf course. Service was very friendly and helpful. Chose from both the A La Carte and the early bird 2 course menus and were not disappointed. Lamb chops were cooked to perfection as was was the salmon. The BBQ spare ribs staters were excellent . Two enormous helping of strawberry pavlova with 4 spoons rounded the meal off. Highly recommend a visit when coming to the North Coast.

Excellent Food Excellent friendly service. Went for lunch on a trip to Giants Causeway. There were 2 coach loads of people plus the hotel also had a wedding reception, but the service was quick, efficient and friendly and the food was much more than expected. Would recommend to anyone.

Stopped here for an afternoon lunch and I can furtherly recommend it to anyone. We've been here several times over the years and I can say it always produces the goods. The restaurant has a simple menu and carvery option but don't let this put you off, the food is supplied in good quantities and has a good home cooked feel and taste about it.

Excellent service. Very good food, especially the duckling. But we had to sit at the back of the building because the front part of the restaurant, with the excellent view of the ocean, had just closed!?? Not so good wine choices on the glass

Zum Glück haben wir zwei Übernachtungen gebucht. Wir haben die „Bushmills Suite „ gemietet. Einfach fabelhaft.

This was a truly lovely experience. The room was lovely and very clean with a balcony and beautiful sea view. The staff were very warm, welcoming and efficient. The evening meal was superb and service excellent. The breakfast was out of this world. I can't wait to visit again very soon. The cost was very reasonable and very good value for money. I urge anyone reading this review to book asap.

We met some friends here for lunch last Friday for the first time. There was ample parking at the rear. The dining room is at the front of the hotel and gave a panoramic view of the Skerries. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. Having decided on the buffet meal we inspected the newly cookedt turkey, ham and beef options and the salad bar alongside. Roast potatoes, freshly baked Yorkshire pies etc. The chef was friendly and enthusiastic about his food, evidently keen to please his customers. Traditional Ulster food which was delicious. We refused desserts and ended the meal with coffees all round. The service was unintrusive and helpful throughout. For £10 per head it was an enjoyable lunch and we would certainly go again.

Service excellent and amazing views. Breakfast was faultless, however, on the one occasion we elected to have our evening meal in the hotel our entire party was extremely disappointed by the poor quality of the food. The vegetarian lasagne tasted overwhelmingly of tomato purée. The topping was much too thick & difficult to cut. The dish was reminiscent of a cut price store meal. Worse still the portions of chips were small and consisted of hard ends. I would not recommend the Royal Court for a meat as our e tire party found the food appalling

Two bus loads of our family landed in to this hotel for a scheduled lunch while on a bus tour. The view is to die for.... Great window views all over the restaurant! The food was very good as was the service - keep in mind (although we had scheduled our lunch about a week or so prior) there were 58 of us all at one time.... We all had a lovely meal and then continued on our trip. It was very nice to have this spot in paradise to add to our memories of our reunion!

was in the area on business and new wouldn't be finished until after 7 so booked table for 8 and other half had tagged along as we haven't been in portrush in ages. have driven by here for years and never tried it before and am kicking myself for not going in sooner. we were welcomed by very friendly staff and shown to a table at the window overlooking the golf coarse and also the white rocks and beach. lovely sunny evening and the views were breathtaking. the waiter took our drinks order and a lovely friendly waitress chloe came to take our food order. she is a credit to the hotel as very polite , friendly and charming as we were to find out all the staff were. our starters were salmon with potato cake and the garlic mushrooms. both tasty and plentiful. i had the mixed grilled and she who must be obeyed had the salmon grilled with champ. very generous portions and absolutely the nicest i have tasted. both cooked to perfection. the food was that good we even sat a while so we could eat desert and were at no time rushed or felt they wanted us out. desert came and i only could eat half due to the amount i had already eaten and was just being greedy. the music was background music and you were able to have a conversation without having to shout, the toilets are spotless.the whole experience was the best we have had in years and will definitely be back. on way out we saw that the hotel is 3 star. whoever does these stars needs sacked as we have stayed and dined in 5 star places and the service and food was nothing compared to here. if you have never visited here make it your next place to visit.

This I think is a meeting point for a lot of families by the amount of people at lunch time when we were there.Lunch is a set menu with a carvery. Must say the carvery is very good value which most of our table had. The set menu had a good variety I had the fish and chips nicely presented plate but the fish was disappointing. It was shaped like a fish so it must have been reconstituted fish flesh. I though that beings we were close to the sea I would have had fresh from the sea.other then that good service etc other than we had to point out that they had not charged us for the afters.

Our first visit to the restaurant. Both of us had soup and a main course, I had chargrilled chicken and my wife had children goujons. Both had good size portions. I had a dessert. All the courses were very tasty and warm (most important). Will maybe try the carvery next visit. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only thing I noticed (and it's more an observation rather than a complaint) was that, when I viewed the menu prices in the website they were lower than the actual menu prices on the day. The chicken goujons were £1.25 lower and the chargrilled chicken was £2 lower. Suggest they should review their menu prices on the internet, as there may be others who, like myself may be relying on this for guidance. Highly recommend.

We were a group of four, I had not been here before and was surprised on entering, there must have been about 200people I the restaurant, two bus tours and many others. It was very noisy. Given a window table with a lovely sea view. Waitress quickly took our order, came back with wrong drink order. I ordered chicken pasta with bacon and mushroom sauce. After food served waitress came and asked everything OK. I pointed the pasta was dry with no sauce, she said the sauce must be at the bottom and to stir it up. I stirred it up and there was some warm whitish coloured water no sign of bacon or mushroom, I said that is not sauce that is water and she replies I will get you some more, No thanks no more of that. Then a replacement meal was offered but as was so disgusted I refused the offer. A side order comes with a main course and when I asked for garlic bread as a side I was told this was not a side and was £3.50 extra I was not pleased at this so I was offered a portion of chips as well. My meal then consisted of the bits of chicken in the pasta, garlic bread and chips. Not very satisfactory the.Pasta was sent back The other three meals of the group were just OK but nothing great, very average "Pub grub" type of thing. So if you want a good quality meal in quiet surroundings this is a place to avoid.. I was not charged for the meal

Four of us, all family, went to this restaurant for a carvery lunch. All the food looked and tasted freshly cooked and all of us were pleased with our choices. We arrived with good appetites and perhaps added more to our plates than is usual. We were glad we did not have starters and it was not surprising none of us wanted a sweet course afterwards. I recommend the carvery to anyone with a large appetite and who likes traditional food well prepared, cooked and presented. All the staff we had contact with were efficient, friendly and helpful.

Honestly I have no idea why this restaurant had such a high review. The food was actively terrible, and I am not a picky eater. It also was so expensive. The service was not friendly and very slow. The restaurants was dirty and smelled strange. We stayed at the hotel, which was lovely, but I would NOT recommend eating at the restaurant.
