Food in The Anchor Bar is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful

Great spot for sport but we came too late so no seats... changing from original 4 stars to a five because I can't knock it for that tbh and the food on people's tables looked decent 😅 super close to the beach walks

We came here for dinner on New years Eve, there was lots of space and the staff were very friendly. Portions were a great size and tasty! Everything was piping hot when it came out, never had anything like it. Peppercorn sauce was good. One downside was the garlic potatoes which said garlic fries on the menu so a little misleading but would come here again! I think there was some live music towards midnight but we didn’t stay. Free mints with the receipt too!

Perfect place for dinner and a good drink

Our visit to the Anchor restaurant was just ok. There is not much atmosphere, but if you want to watch tv (maybe good for sport?) it would be great as I could see 6 screens from our table... The food was average. Service was good - plenty of waiters serving the tables, all very friendly and helpful. Part of our order was forgotten and arrived later than the other food and our bill was also wrong twice, so not very impressed. The restaurant also felt a bit grubby. I would advise spending a few pounds more and visiting the restaurant across the road, which was much better. We probably wont be back to the Anchor.

Ordered a pino wine, came in small bottle with screw top already off? the wine tasted like vinegar and was undrinkable, bar man refused to replace it and said I had to buy another wine instead, totally unhelpful

Booked a table for 6 in restaurant 2 weeks in advance. Got a call on Friday to say we'd have to eat in the bar as restaurant booked out for Christmas parties. Very poor customer service .Have been told this has happened to others . Not keen to try this again

Friendly, welcoming staff. Room ok, food mediocre. Worst karaoke host in the world. Overall a bit over priced for what it is.

Staying in a hotel just across the road, it was no surprise The Anchor bar was our first port of call for a drink. Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of sport on the many Tvs around the bar with a nice wee fire lite. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was brilliant. Although we had already eaten earlier, the food others ordered looked delicious, so next time we're in Portstewart, we'll be sure to try the menu. Great place to sit have a drink and relax.

I used to drink in here when I was younger, but over the years, it's changed so much. None of the locals don't bother to drink here anymore.

Stayed here for company business, rooms a bit outdated but beds are comfortable and lovely staff, must've be student night when I stayed as the club was open, I didn't mind, although if you're a light sleeper I would keep this in mind. Food was decent.

Very nice bar although a little dark in places. Warm and friendly amd the staff were very attentive. The food was really lovely and we all enjoyed our meal. Will be back.

Asked us to leave after some random group accused us of trying to steal an older woman’s purse, we are teenage lads looking for a night out, and easy targets of manipulation. These bouncers believed these false allegations and assaulted me over a table. I will be contacting my solicitor for footage of the night to review and consult about the events of tonight and see about further action. Please stay away and save yourself a headache. It benefits no lad to be falsely accused for no reason other than a group of females not wanting you out of the location. They (bouncer and female customer) then tried to convince my girlfriend of 3 year that I was trying to take the purse off a random older woman, too which she obviously thought was lies.

Stayed two nights. Great room, friendly staff. The room is a bit of a challenge in the hotel and something could be done about the noise, but other than that we slept well. Had an excellent meal two evenings in the pub next door. Nice staff.

WILL DREAM OF THIS CHOWDER FOR MANY NIGHTS!! my husband and i came here after just checking into portstewart. we ordered the chowder as an app but as soon as we tasted it we pretty much decided then and there that we would be coming back the following night except getting it as an entree portion. which is exactly what we did lol!! it was so creamy and filled with so much seafood, it was genuinely a bowl of pure deliciousness!! the rest of our items were also extremely tasty: seabass, haddock, calamari, fish and chips but man, the star of this place is that chowder!! my husband is originally from boston and while we love new england clam chowder, there was something about THIS creamy delight that we will forever remember. tldr: eat here for an excellent bite!!

The Anchor Bar is a lovely place for a relaxing drink, you can stay there as well if you so wish, we didn't need too. There is a lovely atmosphere in it and the staff are friendly and courteous..

Stayed 1 night. 8th sept 24. Room not ready at booking in time. Lovely receptionist made us a coffee. No hot water so unable to shower after our travelling. Not informed of this on arrival. Water was fixed by the morning. Some toiletries not in the room. Our bottom sheet on the bed was too small, so came off the mattress. All the staff were very nice.

It should be a lovely pub as it has a great atmosphere and helpful staff (luckily!) The menu has a code labeling system for allergens which is incorrect. I have a dairy allergy. Some dishes said 'creamy sauce' but were listed as milk free, some were labelled as dairy free but also as listed as 'contains milk ' and the fried fish was supposedly milk free but luckily I said I couldn't eat dairy when ordering. It turned out there was milk in the batter. We ended up having monkfish with stir fried and noodles which was just some fried monkfish on noodles and about 4 tiny strips of pepper for £20 !!..my husbands burger was average to say the least. Fries were extra (even with fish and NO chips!)

Great for a few nights away prime location although the view is a bit obscured by the buildings opposite.

We really enjoyed the setting, the food and the service here. We had sea bass and haddock. Both are cooked very superbly in a white herb sauce. Mine came with spinach and asparagus, very good. Hubby had irish champ, a kind of mashed potato. He liked it.

Went in for fish and chips came out having spent a small fortune first time ever spent 15 pounds for a regular piece of cod and the chips were a side order they need to wise up 19 pounds for a fish supper before I even wetted my lips

4.5 - seafood chowder was amazing!

Another wonderful experience in The Anchor. We visit the bar most times we are in the area and have had a flawless experience each and every time.

Terrible service in the restaurant. Food quality was very good but let down by the lack of experience from waitress 's. Morning breakfast was also poor.

Would regularly go to this bar, can’t fault staff they are normally fantastic tonight after three rounds which each time came to £21.30 was then charged for the same round for £25 to discover that they were watered down drinks - complained to the bar member who served me who turned out to be the manager - so rude - what a dampener for what had been a lovely evening.

Food was great and the service was amazing . Went in as walk In and got seats in the restaurant. Think we got there at a good time. Will be back and would highly recommend trying.

Only visited the bar. Was a nice ambiance. Someone was playing music. It was fun.

We booked it last minute, got a really good price and the room was top quality. All the staff were excellent, bar prices were reasonable, food was good and prices reasonable. They had music on (it was a Tuesday night) and the bar was quite busy. Can't complain about anything, other than 11am checkout but that is standard now for everywhere. Will definitely be back.

I stopped in for dinner while staying at the Anchorage Inn. Quaint and charming restaurant. The service was good and the food was extremely good! Reasonably priced food and drinks!

Never had a bad meal in the anchor. Have visited the anchor during the NW200 for nearly 15 years. Always receive a warm welcome from the staff. Food is always excellent, Guinness is good too. Great spot!

Brilliant bar, good crowd at the weekend, food is loveley. Live music and plenty of room to dance. Age is from 18 till over 60 so everyone welcome

Let's just say this place not worth the visit. It has way to many faults including rude staff and so called fire doors with a gap around frame

Called in for some lunch, very reasonably priced and very nice food, would recommend.

Only downside of our stay was the club was closed early, but we had a brilliant day/night.

Usually lively at weekends/evenings. Drink prices are moderate for the area, and the food has taken a real turn for the better over the past couple of years.

Had an overnight stay here just after Christmas. We booked a table in the restaurant. Our meal was great but the service was shocking. It started well with drinks and main course. Our plates were cleared, and after sitting for over 20 minutes, I had to go to the bar and ask for a desert menu. After another 15 minutes or so, I again had to go to the bar and ask to place an order. The restaurant wasn't packed out by any stretch of the imagination.

A fab pub, clean and comfortable! Worth popping in, if you're in the area.

Staff were amazing with the best food (much better and cheaper than harbour bistro). I have to say the beef and Guinness pie was a must have with crispy garlic fries. The dessert was lovely too with yummy brownie and vanilla ice cream. The whole place was wheelchair accessible in both entrances.

Nice cosy bar with a fireplace to keep warm. Good service and a good lunt of Guiness.

Nourriture excellente, accueil chaleureux, le bar est bien fourni et les serveurs à l'écoute. Le tout pour un prix raisonnable. Ne pas hésiter à s'arrêter!

Booked for dinner in the Inn at 6pm on Saturday with the hope of going next door to bar after for drinks. It was very busy. The staff were nice. We had 5 and the table was a bit small but when a group didn't show up, they moved us to a bigger table which was perfect. The food was lovely and they had 2 for £10 cocktails. £140 for 5 mains and a cocktail each so good value. Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for out night out as the bar was too busy.

We had a lovely quite night. Beds exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast excellent. Reception staff polite and helpful.

After have a flight cancelled for a holiday to malaga we decided a few days away was better than nothing. Booked into anchor on Wed and from word go we were knew made the right choice with the anchor from reception staff to bar, restaurant staff can't fault it. One of most friendly places I have stayed. nothing to much hassle for the staff

we ate at the anchorage almost every day. Food was amazing and the staff was very courteous. Do remember to go before 9 pm though.

Bit dated looking, but clean, good food and good service.

They had Trad music on Wednesday which was excellent but bizarrely had many TV screens on at the same time showing some dodgy channel 4 film which was very distracting.

Called in on my own for a quick bite to eat. The whole complex was very busy with happy eaters and drinkers. Well impressed with the food and service. Nothing was any trouble for my server Alison. Will be back again for a more leisurely dinner.

Me and my girlfriend came here for a meal in late June the food was delicious and a very nice atmosphere in the bar we will definitely go back when we can

Apart from the £5.30 for a pint of Guinness, it was rather pleasent. Cept I had had a better pint a 1/2 hour previous in the Clyde Tavern in Coleraine for £4.00 dead.

Dinner was exceptional withe the price very reasonable.

Have been several times and never disappointed. Food is great and staff could not do enough for their customers. One of my favourite places

Two visits now. First was a disaster, as a local 'character' started to annoy ours and next door's tables. I had to have a word with the staff about it... twice! Was also way overcharged for two drinks as the young person serving didn't seem to have a baldies about pricing. All in all, it is a decent place with decent food. Though staff could do with a bit more training.

They offered us a discount on the room which was brilliant, but failed to tell us the music would be blasting down below till 2am, its aswell I didn't book with the kids in tow, or I would ha e had to leave, I think this is really important information they should supply when anyone is booking, especially for families and pensioners etc, up your game Anchorage
