Roast beef dinner was absolutely delicious!

Lovely lunch with excellent home made tasty food, good choices and lovely deserts. Will definitely go back again.

Walked in as a family of four. Expecting guidance to our table for covid reasons..didn't get any so sat down at a table. We were approached by a blonde waitress who asked us if we had already eaten. She knew fine well we hadn't and then was so rude and said we shouldn't be sitting without the table being cleaned...we apologised but the look on her face said it all...another lady took our order and gave us 3 of the 4 drinks we ordered. The drinks all said " part of a multipack not to be sold separately" then she left my 9 year old daughter 2 sachets of tomato ketchup 2 months out of date for the chips she ordered that never came!! There was water dripping out of the burgers and the coffee came when we were about to leave which was also undrinkable.....safer hungry in my opinion... it all was disgusting!!

Diabolical. Worst cafe experience ever and I'm 55. Rude waitress and out of date ketchup served to my daughter for her chips that didn't turn up. Can't find words to describe the food. Steer clear

Great food, great service with a smile, great value, will return

Good food, large portions, reasonable prices, but the dessert is the star of the show. Best apple crumble I have ever tasted, absolutely delicious. Lemon meringue pie and trifle were also lovely.

Went here yesterday with my family for a late lunch. We sat down, looked at the menu and decided what we wanted. We sat for 5-10 minutes before the waitress finally came over to take our order. She had awful manners and gave us a very bad first impression. Shortly after our order was taken we received cutlery, which was slammed on the edge of the table, not even properly given to us. Our food arrived and we were starving, but the salad I received was terrible! The “chicken breast” had a big bone in it, which I found very of putting as I don’t like boned chicken, and was black and purple in colour on the underside. The lettuce was as dry as anything, sweet corn tasted as if it had been sitting for days, cheese and mayonnaise tasted out of date and bland and the onion was awful. The beetroot however was quite nice. 5 minutes into our meal we finally received our drinks to wash down the awful food. I would definitely not recommend eating here and will not be back!

We try to go here as often as we can but it is a very busy Restaurant and frequently there are no free tables, however when you get in you can eat very tasty home cooking at very reasonable prices and the service is good considering how busy it is.If you are in Portrush always give it a try.

Used to go here every Sunday for our Sunday lunch! Went again last week. As always great homemade food. Now only problem is the food doesn't come at the one time. They obviously make one meal and serve it and make the other. Understanding as it's a small small place. 9 tables max. This is good home made food. Nothing fancy. But good grub.

There are only 9 or 10 tables. My wife and I walked in at 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday) and sat at the only available table which was dirty and remained so until we had to clean it ourselves as there was absolutely no intention of the staff to clean it. This cafe has the strangest service that I've ever seen. They take the order for one table then go and make that order. Then they take the next table's order etc. Never seen anything like it. We waited 20 mins before they even took our order. Then another 25 mins for my wifes dinner to come out which she had finished by the time mine came out. 55 mins from when we walked in until I got my dinner. Unfortunately, I can't even comment on the quality of the food as I was so hungry by then I ate it so fast that I didn't even taste it. The staff do not seem to have a clue what they are doing. They seemed to be friends or family with all the other customers and to be honest that's probably the only reason why anyone would use it because no one else in their right mind would go back a second time. They then had the nerve to ask if we wanted dessert. ARE YOU MAD???

Called in on Sunday took a table the table next to me was full of dirty dishes that where not lifted till I was near at end of my meal tables should be cleared and cleaned when people go, and there was only a few people in I asked for a bacon bap and tea about 10 min. out came a mug and milk then waited around 10 min. again out came the bacon bap which to me was a small muffin not good value at 1.90.then I started to eat waited and had to ask where is my tea which came 5 min. later this is not good its a small no frills restaurant and I think family run so come, on these reviews are to let you know what is wrong so you can take note and improved and have a better restaurant bring in more people make more money, I called in with my partner two weeks ago on a Sunday for the roast beef dinner we had the small and large the small came first looked ok but 1 boiled potato and 1 roast and the large came yes a slice more meat again 1 boiled 1 roast very mean on the potatoes the veg. I would say are tinned the meat lovely and I enjoyed it so did my partner but we agreed more potatoes then its looks better and people can say you get good portions word gets out more people come.

Called into this cafe on 11th August with two friends. On arrival, after not being greeted or shown to a table we proceeded to sit at one available by the window. Although it was busy we didn’t have to wait too long until we were served. Service was just ok, a bit more enthusiasm would have been nice from the lady whom appeared to be the manager/owner. Disappointed that the food did not arrive together and there was a bit of a wait between my order and my two friends. This is something which shouldn’t really happen when eating out. Food tasted good especially the chips, no frills but for the price it was good. We asked for extra hot water for our tea and the young waitress was extremely pleasant and obliged. All in all, food was good! However the service was just ok. Unlikely to be back.

Arrived in the morning plenty if space. Got seated and looked at the menu. Other tables arrived after us. The waitress who came out wiping her nose took the other tables order ignoring us and walking on. My husband asked if she would take our order and her reply was "just wait".We waited another 5 minutes then left.Waitress was rude and had no interest in taking our order.We found another cafe up the town and the atmosphere and staff were alot nicer.Always had seen The Hidden Cove and this was our 1st time trying ut but never again.Pipe band competition in the town and a cafe tries to manage with 2 staff really is a joke!!

Absolutely abysmal.Staff are extremely rude, tried to do my elderly grandad out of money, £10 exactly. Really disappointed as this was a treat for us all. Charged us an extra pound cause there was meat no bigger than the palm of your hand in the tostie which was soggie, flat and looked like it had been just threw on the plate. Wouldn't reccomend atall.

Great food, great staff, family-friendly with generous kids' portions, loved the relish :) Will definitely be back again when visiting Portrush!

Visited here as it was a cafe I had fond memories of from my childhood visiting portrush with the thoughts of a fab meal. Asked for 2 items off the menu which were not available lasagne wasn’t made and when asking for chicken kebab and salad they had no salad so opted for chicken goujions with chips and beans. My daughter ordered chips nuggets and beans. Her beans arrived not heated at all and I received mayo which was out of date. Will not be rushing back.

The hidden cove do a great fry..cooked fresh and grease free any time we staying up at portrush and wake up slightly hungover its fry time at the cove 👍

Comimos allí dos veces mientras pasa unos días en Portrush con la familia. Está justo al lado de la calle principal y se puede llegar fácilmente a pie pasado y no darle un segundo vistazo. Pero recomiendo que lo prueben si sólo quieres una buena comida, sin lujos y sin precios altos. Hay muchos lugares para comer en Portrush y la mayoría de ellos son bastante caros, pero el Hidden Cove sirve realmente sabrosos, buenas porciones de tamaño a un precio muy razonable. No cómo cocinan las patatas fritas, pero son las mejores patatas que he probado en mucho tiempo - crujientes por fuera y suaves y ligeros en el interior. El café en sí me parece bien cuidado y limpio.

My family and myself regularly eat here when we visit Portrush. The food cooked here is like home cooked. the high quality of the food makes it taste delicious and the staff are very friendly. Recommend this place!

Since springtime we have lunch here most Sundays always hot well cooked plenty of tender meat price is very reasonable would recommend

Went here one Sunday had a lovely home cooked Sunday lunch roast beef and vegetables with potatoes was absolutely beautiful. Very popular place as you will see when you visit deserts are absolutely Devine too. Try it out you won't be disappointed we weren't.

Visitamos este local con una gran familia. La comida era buena, pero el servicio era terrible. El personal, tiene una actitud muy malo para trabajar en este tipo de industria. Su 'no puedo ser molestado de tomar su orden fue mucho que desear. Como íbamos con niños pidieron salsa roja, como la mayoría de los niños tienden a como con la comida. Pedir más la actitud de ellos era también un 'yo no podía ser molestado. Su salsa de vino en bolsitas y nos dio la impresión de que al pedir más era como si iban a salir. Definir no volverá y no se lo recomendaría.

Gran café local, teníamos dos frys y bebidas. El servicio era encantador, la comida sabrosa y sin duda alguna volveremos. Lo recomiendo para los turistas que quieren probar un buen guiso casero adecuado o simplemente su promedio local pasarlo un lugar decente para comer

Food nice and reasonably priced. Staff say very little and a I cant be bothered attitude. Waited a long time on our order. Locals seem to get preference.

Hay una carretera muy empinada, muy ventoso hasta aquí, así que ten cuidado a la vez que conducir o, estábamos en una moto, así que me decidí a pedir un ascensor hasta la cima ya que creo que las bicicletas embrague habría quemado. Una vez el sólo un cala pero tranquilo.

If you want good wholesome home cooked food The Hidden Cove is hard to beat. The food is all freshly cooked to order by Doreen and delicious every time. Her quality is always consistent and it is a nice relaxed atmosphere

Mis amigos y yo llamamos algún brunch un domingo por la tarde. No nos dieron la bienvenida con un hola o incluso reconoció. Los pedidos no salen al mismo tiempo y cuando la comida se servía en este horrible olor de mi pollo y no pude comer! Sabía!! Pero fueron lo suficientemente buenos como para deducirlo de mi factura! Yo sabía que estaba muy ocupada y probablemente eran intentando atendió a otros clientes, pero entiendo que una mujer estaba tomando todas las órdenes de clientes y sirven la comida y también ayudando en la cocina, que luego se traduce en un ritmo lento. Sin embargo mis amigos realmente no disfrutan de su comida y nos pareció que era un buen precio-calidad!!

Dropped in on Sunday during airwaves. Four adults and six children. Had heard good reviews about The Hidden Cove. Not a big café but was busy. Wasn't expecting a hug but a Hello or weathers not bad for the airshow would have been nice. First communication with the staff was "would you stop that child playing with the sugar" only a little sachet which was lying on the table I might add. Smiles must have ben left in a box in the boot of the car on Sunday I can tell you. Food ordered and eventually arrived here and there. pretty basic and obviously thrown together in a rush! enough said wont be back.

Great fish and chips will be back. Good location. Friendly staff. Good value for money. Kids enjoyed it too. Family friendly

The Hidden Cove still maintains the consistent quality of food that it always has. Meals are very nicely cooked and service is very good even when the cafe is quite full.We still have not found any better than the Hiden Cove for good wholesome home cooked food.I do agree that if you want flashy surroundings and top gourmet style flashy dishes, this may not be for you, but if you want very tasty home cooking in a relaxed atmosphere, consistent quality and reasonable prices, this is still hard to beat. Go find the Hidden Cove.

Friendly staff and the food is fine so long as you are not looking fine cuisine but then to be fair it is priced accordingly. Space is a bit tight but they always make you feel welcome.

Been here quite a few times. Its basic in most ways but the food is fine. Dont expect fancy food or decor. Expect good hearty meals with a relaxed atmosphere. Great for when you dnt want cafe food or restaurant type food or sitting. Service is pretty quick. Examples of food -- gammon, lasagne, frys, sausages, curries, burgers etc

Makes the best lemon meringue in the world. Try it and you will agree it's out of this world. Yum yum yum

Nice home cooked food ,quite basic but the food and the service good pity there wasn't any vegi dishes just salad or toastie

Saturday afternoon, ready for a quick meal. Seated and looking through the menu, but no one would come and take the order! Perhaps it was too near to closing time, if so, they only had to say. We left after being ignored for approx. 10 minutes and found something tasty to eat at the nearby White House cafe. Hidden Cove?................ more like the hidden waitress.

Stopped off in Portrush for breakfast and tried to get served at the adelphi but despite the restaurant being empty and a sign outside offering a £6 fry we received a "breakfast is finished". That's fine with me as the cash stays in my pocket! We spotted the hidden Cove across the road and was welcomed in and within 10 minutes were enjoying a lovely fresh cooked breakfast. Ignore the negatives below and give this great wee place a try!

We stumbled upon this quaint little cafe on Easter Sunday, we were at the ramada hoping for food but the staff totally ignored us as we stood and waited for someone to acknowledge us so we dandered on down the street. What a lovely surprise! The cafe is lovely and bright and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. They were very busy but our order was taken quickly- the food was fresh and you can tell they use great quality ingredients, I had fish&chips my son had the large fry and raved about how tasty is was with decent bacon!! And my partner had a sandwich which he devoured, the staff were lovely and friendly towards us and very attentive oh and the lemon meringue pie was fantastic too, we'll definitely return when we are up again- it's so hard to get quality food at a decent price these days, so we were delighted to find this little place.

Have been to the Hidden Cove many times and the food has been very good, beautifully cooked and you will not get better more helpful staff anywhere. It is deceiving from the outside but just go in and enjoy good home cooking and excellent service and always consistently good food at a very reasonable price.

very homey, but the food was a rubbish. Great staff! Would not go back though... ever! there are many other places in portrush so it should be avoided.
