Really friendly bar staff and customers, would do anything for us .

Was here a few years back. The food was great , but sad to say, it looks very run down now, not very inviting and apparently no longer doing food sad

Typical pub, cheap pint (€4.3!!) Going for it is great!

Had the carvery today in the resturant and can easily say it was the best carvery I have ever had. Lovely friendly helpful staff also

Decided to call into village tavern for lunch on the way through. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to our seats. The server was most pleasant, and after a lengthy chat I discovered he was the proprietor. Food was excellent, especially the pepper sauce, really something!!! Our meal was very reasonably priced and there was plenty of it. 2 mains 2 desserts and 4 soft drinks 32 pounds. Overall a lovely experience indeed and I wish Daniel and the team every success for the future. God willing we will return soon.

Fish was in lovely crispy batter and full of fish, the steak sandwich was so tasty. Staff extremely knowledgable and pleasant. Lovely surroundings, comfortable. Def worth a visit.

Huge portions of cod and quick friendly service.

This was our first time in this place. We had two fish and chips plus a chilli chicken pitta. The food and service excellent. Homely, we will be back again

Worst service and food we have had in a very long time. It was the first time we had visited this venue, no one greeted us at door to show us to table, we asked at bar then they took our drinks order and forgot to bring it!! It was not busy by no means. Staff all young nobody seemed to be in charge an all standing around. Food was dreadful, plates cold, mashed potatoes runny, roast potatoes soft, stuffing dry, gravy tasteless.... An we are not hard to please by no means.! No one asked if everything was OK or did we want dessert... We didn't I couldn't wait to get out of there. I have never before left a bad review on anywhere... But needless to say we will not be back. This is such a shame as the restaurant itself could be lovely!

Welcoming staff who went out of the way to be helpful with dietary requirements. A pleasant lunch at a reasonable price.

When we stopped in for lunch in 2017, this was called Blackbeard Tavern. It was a pretty establishment. My friend had a flavorful local beer, his wife had a tasty soup, and I had coffee with churros (4) served with a pan of hot chocolate sauce to dip them in … plus a side of ice cream. Yum! I told the waitress I wanted a light dessert and she suggested these. I'd never heard of them and they were just great.I hope the new management is able to keep the same quality of food, and friendly service.

We have eaten here a few times now , on different day of the weekend and weve been really pleased with the food and atmosphere, staff were really friendly and helpful , we recently held a charity event in the restaurant for McMillan and the owners were amazing, their generosity and support was fantastic, cant recommend this place and people enough , great wee village atmosphere, tasty food and offers a great selection of wine and beer and just found out they will soon be offering High Tea which i will definitely be giving a try

Just eaten in the tavern had soup to start which was tasty along with shop bought wheaten. Main was supposed to be stuffed pan fried chicken fillet. Fillet was butterflied without seasoning on top of what I can only describe as paxo stuffing. A sweet onion sauce over the chicken did nothing to enrich the flavour. If you imagine cutting up some boiled potatoes deep frying them an spooning over garlic butter then you'll get the idea of the garlic fries. My Tex mex fries were done in the same way as the garlic fries except mine given a spoon of sour cream and a spoon of sweet chilli sauce. An altogether bland meal. Along with two soft drinks came to nearly £30. After eating I rested my bare arms along the shelf behind my back. As I lifted my arms a stickiness ensued. Please draw your own conclusions from my review.

spent a week up at benoan caravanning & driving back from a fun filled afternoon with the kids in the jet centre colraine we decided to call in for our dinner.first thing we noticed was the young lad looking after us was clearly under pressure on his own looking after three tables! 12 people.ordered drinks. Guinness was great.then ordered food. typically both kids then decided they needed the loo. WARNING. DONT DO IT. filthy.Food arrived. adults first. 4 frustrating mins later the kids food arrived.kids burgers were adult sized, that's ok, charred bone dry.I ordered a medium but on the rare side sirloin but got rump that was more than well done. champ was nice. my wife refused to comment on her dinner but didn't finish it.tried to get the lads attention several times but to no avail. took us a while to realise he just wasn't coping well with the job in hand.got up stood for 10 mins to pay the bill, explained we wouldn't be having desert & didn't enjoy the experience. to the response of. ok thanks.Best way to describe this place is a pub that shouldn't be trying to act as anything else..

We went recently for the Sunday carvery....... good value for good food. The staff are just lovely and very helpful - nothing is any trouble. All six of us thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be back. Looking forward to it.

Yo y otros 4 visitó la aldea Tavern un sábado por la tarde para almorzar. Recientemente compradas por después estábamos intrigados para probarlo, como nuestros visitas aquí han sido estupendas. Inicialmente el servicio que recibimos fue estupenda, pero fue cuesta abajo desde allí. Servicio de comida era lento, 25 minutos para 4 paninis y una papa al horno. También una palabra de consejo a la camarera - su servicio de atención al cliente necesita mejorar mucho, increíblemente grosera y no hospitalarios. Cuando llegó mi amigo nuestra comida, encontramos una placa de volar en su muerto, después nos quejamos al principio nos encontramos con una respuesta helada de la camarera. El camarero (que parecía más senior) entonces vino y se disculpó y tomó los panini de la factura que estamos agradecidos. Sugiero un poco de formación de personal en el servicio al cliente es chica para que, ella parecía joven y sin experiencia en la tramitación de las quejas. Aparte de eso, la comida era decente y a un precio razonable. En general, bastante decepcionante, lleva mucho para mí estar impresionado si volviera a visitar de nuevo.

Este restaurante varias veces durante los últimos dos años. Las comidas han sido de muy buen nivel. El personal es excelente y muy atento. Siempre he disfrutado de mis visitas y la única crítica que tengo es que el restaurante es un poco frío y con necesidad de algunas formas de calefacción. Sin embargo, parada no volveré.

Llevé a mi esposa a cenar y llegamos al pueblo de taberna en Articlave. Encontramos la taberna muy decoradas con vidrieras que nos dijeron que era para mezclarse con las iglesias de ambos lados. La Taberna era muy amplia cuando sentado en su mesa. La comida era de muy buen gusto y bien servida. El personal era muy servicial y muy amable.

was heading back to our holiday home and noticed the villgage tavern and decided to give it a try for dinner.was met by a friendly waitress and showed to our tablethe menu looked nice and i wanted about three different things on it.we all ordered dinner and a drinkthe service was fastmy wife ordered sirloin stesk and when it came it was cooked to perfection and it tasted better than any steak she ever hadmy mother had fish and also greati had chicken chilli pasta with cream sauce and all i can say is yum yumwe also had staters and one desert/ could not any more that full upthis is not one of theese fancy new cousine type of restaurant just good old cooked food and portion sizes for good value but most of all excellent quality and servicewould go back to this restaurant without hesitationplease give it a try just about three miles from castlerock county londonderry

Volvimos de la playa y nos detuvimos para Castlerock en una cena un sábado. La comida era buena, el servicio rápido y la relación calidad-precio genial. La ensalada era genial.

Ate here twice - once on a Saturday evening and the following weekend for Sunday carvery.The food on the Saturday was very tasty and was very good value. Service was again good with a very pleasant waitress serving us both food & drinks.We asked about the Sunday carvery and said we would come back another time. We went the week after and had a fantastic meal - it was a real traditional home cooked Sunday lunch. The portions were very generous and everything was cooked to perfection. Could fault anything with the carvery. Thanks again and look forward to visiting again soon

Food woefull staff rude , every kerbstone in area painted red white blue not welcome feeling.if they want to welcome tourists they need to talk to the local council and irish tourist board about appealing to every one who pass this town by chance . i had a burger and chips with side salad . the burger was not cooked proper. I just eat a couple of chips and a little salad , some of the chips tasted blanched and not cooked threw at all. I was really annoyed because i was really hunger . i went to bathroom before leaving to pay and there was strong urine smell in there , Glad to get back home to make something clean in my own kitchen

Meal here last Tuesday very good pub food served by a very friendly and helpful waitress. Service was a bit slow but waitress apologized for this and it was not a problem. All in all good food at a good price in nice surroundings. I have past here many times this was a first visit and I would eat here again

On entrance into the tavern there was numerous empty tables, most of which still had empty dishes and glasses remaining. While the menu itself sounded very appealing, the food served was not. After a long 40 minute wait (there was 1 other table present) the incorrect order arrived at our table. A Cajun Peppered chicken described as lightly spiced failed to impress with little (if any) spice and the tobacco onions had little flavour and appeared cold. Other family members were disappointed with garlic fries and chips that were raw in the middle. For this food and service, the tavern was very overpriced.

Beautiful meal with the family, lovely relaxed cosy atmosphere, amazing food, classy presentation and friendly service.

Nice building and to be fair this is a pub, so the most we were expecting was pub-style food. But the menu seemed too reliant on the deep fat fryer - which is okay if that's your preference, but it wasn't ours. At least the food wasn't overly priced, but what really saved it was the very pleasant and helpful staff. Wouldn't rush back, but wouldn't say don't ever give it a go.

It is the sort of place you go to when you are hungry but don't want to go too far. The staff, especially the waiting staff, are superb. Very friendly, very helpful however the food is very "ordinary". It is what it is.My better half had the Cajon Chicken with garlic fries, I as usual, had the steak. I asked if they still did the Macnatamney staek (pardon the spelling, I am old, but it is a personal fav) I was informed it would be from him. I would disagree. It was the quality of steak one would buy from Tesco, "good but not brilliant". It was ok, my better half thought hers was very good. It was what it was, ok. Even my pint of Magner's was a bit suspect, cider certainly but Magner's ? No. Will I be back? Yes of course when I am in the area. Will I expect perfection? No I will expect a fairly adequate meal.

Great place. Worth a try. Food was nice & worth the money. Would recommend . Fresh produce, Sunday menu looked impressive & I will certainly return. Lovely place. Lovely staff.

Hubby and I decided one Sunday to give this place a go as a few friends had recommended it. It didn't disappoint. Sunday Carvery was laid out and looked amazing, fresh veg and potatoes, stuffing and 4 kinds of meat, looked gorgeous but we decided to eat from the normal menu. Drinks appeared almost immediately from ordering and our mains were served in less than 15 minutes. Food was fresh, plentiful and perfectly cooked. Desserts were awesome as well, very reasonably priced as well. We will be returning :)

I took a couple of friends out for a meal on Saturday evening the restaurant was not packed but busy we got seated right away and drinks order took promptly I had the sirloin steak med was beautiful cooked perfectly my friends had the chicken goujons(looked gd), the chilli chicken penny pasta ( very rich and creamy a+), and the tavern burger. The food and service was great could not fault it.. Thanks we will be back again

We went in on a Saturday night and had a quiet meal together. Food and service were fine, but the vegetables were not delivered with one of the meals which rather let down the experience.

We regularly visit this restaurant as it is close to our home. We like to support our local businesses and and as it is handily located just off the Coast Road with its own parking we like to give it a go. After some years where it never had enough visitors the present management are really making a go of it attracting much better numbers and regularly open. While the food was reasonable on our last visit the wait of about 45 minutes was unacceptable. The food when it arrived was a little overcooked and not as warm as we would have liked. The staff are always pleasant and the menu is comparably priced to other local restaurants. We really wish the "Tavern" all the best and will continue to support them.
