I went for dinner with my partner. Fantastic food, all locally sourced, and top notch service. We had the bread and oil platter to start which was fantastic. We then moved onto the Calamari which was light and fresh before moving onto the Spanish meatballs, these were beautifully tasty. For drinks we had the white Sangria which was refreshing and smooth. The atmosphere was nice too, the restaurant does not feel overpacked and was not loud. Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable night for us. My only suggestion if you do come here is close your eyes when you eat and really savour it.

Food was pretty good. I had the burger which was well done and nice and chewy just the way I like it. It was served in a non toasted bap so was a bit cold, but the chips were well seasoned. The chips were the best. They really know their chips. I'd go back just for a plate of chips alone. The service was very slow, even though the place was half full. It took 20 minutes to get a drink when we sat down. The inside looks like one of those hairy biker truck stops and a bit basic but otherwise it's a nice setting.

I've been wanting to try here forever and it did not disappoint! Tried the 6 tapas deal and they are right when they said it was ideal for 3 people - perfect portion sizes. And the food was wonderful. So nice to have something a little different in the North Coast. Catered well for allergies, letting us know what to avoid. Service was great and I'll definitely be back. Can't wait for summer too to sit outside by the river and pretend I'm in Spain.

A bit disappointed as I ordered from the Ocho bistro lunch menu and when the main course arrived it was not what I ordered, Pan seared Chicken fillet with Wilted Greens and White Wine Cream sauce and an extra side of creamy mash, instead I got chicken breast with carrots and the side of mash. When I questioned this it turned out that they had given me one of the tapas dishes. Instead of taking it away they brought me down some broccoli and some warmed cream. Not what I had expected and also charged full price. Disappointing.

The location is fantastic (if you can get an outside table - it's nothing special inside) and the food was very nice and good value for money. The only thing that spoiled the experience a little bit was the over zealous service. Our starter plates were cleared within about ten seconds of us putting our cutlery down and the main course was served immediately (seconds) afterwards. The main course plates were then removed whilst we were still chewing our last mouthful! They need to relax the service a bit, especially when the restaurant is not busy as was the case when we visited.

Went on Sunday for a late lunch and as usual wasn't disappointed! This was my first visit to the Cranagh marina location, having enjoyed Ocho's food in Portrush - they have just recently started a Sunday lunch menu, my partner had the 7hr slow braised beef (with tons of sides and a fab shallot gravy) which was a steal at just under £18 for the amount you get. I picked chicken skewers from the normal lunch menu and they were really tasty too. The location is lovely alongside the Bann and although we didn't sit outside under the big stretch tent it would be a great place to have drinks overlooking the water. I'll be back anyway!

So I went to the Crannagh location with a family member. From the moment I walked through the door, it was very quiet and there didn’t seem to be much atmosphere about the place. My family member ordered a flat white which took minimum 20 minutes to come, which was extremely long considering how quiet it was and there was more than enough staff. Not to mention , 2 people that came in after us got there tea/coffee before us. The fry was very underwhelming, soda and potato bread very very dry not much taste about it, beans were horrible I didn’t touch them. Overall I was extremely disappointed with my visit.

Despite there being better tables avaliable, we were sat at a table by the entrance to the kitchen and had the delight of listening to plates being smashed about very loudly for the entirety of our meal. We then had quite possibly the most overpriced and worst jug of sangria we have ever tasted (once we finally could get someone to bring us glasses for), incredibly small jug and very watery. The food was good quality but in places completely overpriced, the croquettes (which aren't croquettes) were three tiny pieced of breaded fried goat cheese accompanied by a beetroot topped jar of what tasted like wet bread. The goat cheese was nice enough but very expensive for what it was. The monkfish dish was one skewer with a side salad of prawns (which tasted like they were from the freezer) and again at an eye watering 17 pounds, massively overpriced. Padron peppers were very well cooked and plentiful. The baked cheese spinach could have benefited from having more than two forkfuls of spinach in it, but the cheese sauce was amazing, we ordered extra bread just for that. The bruschetta and patatas bravas were excellent. A mixed bag of a meal, there were defintely highlights but these were overshadowed at times by high prices, which you wouldn't have minded so much if there had been more value for money.

Ocho Our favourite Causeway Coast Tapas restaurant has its new home in the York Inn, Portstewart, offering delicious Mediterranean-style sharing plates with wonderful fresh locally caught seafood, award winning meats, and a focus on local produce. The seafood is outstanding; golden Monkfish Scampi with Patatas Fritas, Crispy Fried Whitebait with pimiento salad and caper aioli, and a fish special of Tandoori Sea Bream with toasted almonds, cauliflower & roasted baby turnips in a creamy velouté. There are lots of meat-free options too; the Vegan Paella is a fragrant saffron-rich dish with roasted vegetables, peppers & cherry tomatoes, and the Aubergine “Three Ways”- fried aubergine with butterscotch & truffled balsamic, tempura aubergine with dukkar & tahini dressing, and baked aubergine with harissa and honey- was an outstanding Vegetarian dish. With plenty of authentically traditional Spanish favourites on the menu, the Patatas Bravas with paprika tomato sauce, chilli oil & bravo mayo, and the charred & salty Padron Peppers, the diner is whisked off to sunnier climes, culinarily speaking! Ocho also provides some brilliantly inventive twists. We couldn’t get enough of the Okonomiyali Fries - thinly sliced chips with Kewpie Japanese mayo, tonkatsu sauce, bonito flakes and black sesame seeds. And the Creamy Ricotta with tomato, black garlic pearls, and Mallorcan toast was another taste sensation. ¡Gracias por la deliciosa comida! Thank you to Sean, Trudy and “Nati the boss” 😘
