On my birthday, we always go to Akbars in York as it's my favourite Indian restaurant outside of Bradford. I was disappointed to find it is closed and I really couldn't decide where else I wanted to go. Living in Sherburn In Elmet I've been to most of the Indian restaurants in this area, and while they are all OK, I have never been blown away by any of them. I stumbled upon Jahan Lounge just through doing a Google search on local Indian restaurants and thought I'd chance it, and thank God I did. The restaurant is tucked away in Scarthingwell Golf Club. There is ample parking too, which is handy. you need to go upstairs in the club building to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is tastefully presented with a nice ambience, and there is a good selection of drinks for all at the bar. The food is literally to die for. It is up there with the best curries I have ever had. I had lamb chops for starters, which were perfectly cooked and so tasty. For my main, I had a keema karahi, which wasn't on the menu, but when I asked, the waiter said, " No problem, sir, we can make that for you" The curry is what blew me away. It is probably in the top three meals I've ever had in my life. The chef here is at the top of their game. If you like a good curry, this is the place to go. I am so glad I have found Jahan lounge because I no longer need to drive all the way to Bradford anymore, I have found a hidden gem right on our doorstep.

We went for a meal here whilst visiting friends in the area on Sat 19th Oct. First impressions was the bar /restaurant area was very scruffy & not clean. We were seated in the conservatory part of the pub & were given menus by a pleasant waitress. She looked after us through out the evening very well. Also, the manager treated us well so no concerns with the staff. The concern came when my wife's meal arrived. She had ordered minted lamb pie with saute potatoes. What came resembled a desperate Dan pie filled with large pieces of new potatoes & 1 small piece of fatty lamb. Also, she had wedges instead of saute potato. We were all concerned over her meal so called the waitress over to explain that this was not what we ordered. In fairness the food was replaced with an alternative dish & she was semi happy but didn't like the potatoes. There were apologies but there was no hint of a courtesy drink for her & no thought of a reduction in her bill for this inconvenience. Also, when we paid we didn't leave a tip, just paid the bill & we got a snooty look from the lady taking payments. So, to recap I felt the pub was grubby, the waitresses were very good, the food served to my wife was totally unacceptable & the response from the lady taking payment was unfriendly. The other 3 meals were a 5 out of 10 so not a place I would rush back to if I lived in the area.

Gorgeous food. I had the pizza and it was like being back in Italy. Husband had the burger and said it was one of the best he's had. Fantastic wine list also and lovely friendly staff

sadly disappointed with this venue The food was ok plenty of it Our biggest concern was it was so cold that we ate our lunch in our coats I know that energy bills are high at the moment...but some heating would of been nice....my phone suggested it was 13 degrees...im of the opinion if you are open for business then your customers should be happy with food....drinks....and warmth

What everyone who takes their car in for an MOT wants to hear “ NO FAULT FOUND “. We popped in for Lunch on a Tuesday to be greeted by two lovely ladies one of whom was the Landlady (Helen) Jayne had Salmon Fillet and I had Gammon. The empty plates at the end of our meals spoke volumes, with the portions being more than ample. All freshly cooked and served in a timely fashion. Helen explained how she and other villagers had decided take the pub on in May this year and from our experience they are not doing anything wrong and making a stance to open seven days a week. Good look to you all. We will certainly be back soon. Sadly we didn’t get the name of the young lady behind the bar but she was a huge part of our fabulous experience. AND EVERYTHING INCLUDING A TIP CAME TO LESS THAN THE COST OF AN MOT. CHEERS. H&J.

Lovely little pub in the country, we ordered - Oven baked rosemary and thyme camembert – topped with a bacon crumb served with warm bread as a main with a side of Garlic parmesan roasted carrots. What I received was - Oven baked Camembert warm bread as the main and a side of carrots with a sprinkle of Parmesan on top. There was no rosemary or thyme, no garlic or no bacon as noted in the menu. This was put to a different chef, I did ask for some chutney to help it over but received some sort of apple and cinnamon compote and a side dish of cold out the fridge bacon crumbs. Not what we were expecting from a place that has had so many good reviews online. We also got the Skippers Catch Crispy golden battered fish and hand cut chips – served with chunky tartare sauce and a lemon wedge. What was received was a light soggy battered fish with homemade single cook soggy chips. Defiantly not worth the £18 I paid for it. Over all, a disappointing meal for the cost and being honest would not go back. Pity as a lovely pub in a beautiful area.
