On my birthday, we always go to Akbars in York as it's my favourite Indian restaurant outside of Bradford. I was disappointed to find it is closed and I really couldn't decide where else I wanted to go. Living in Sherburn In Elmet I've been to most of the Indian restaurants in this area, and while they are all OK, I have never been blown away by any of them. I stumbled upon Jahan Lounge just through doing a Google search on local Indian restaurants and thought I'd chance it, and thank God I did. The restaurant is tucked away in Scarthingwell Golf Club. There is ample parking too, which is handy. you need to go upstairs in the club building to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is tastefully presented with a nice ambience, and there is a good selection of drinks for all at the bar. The food is literally to die for. It is up there with the best curries I have ever had. I had lamb chops for starters, which were perfectly cooked and so tasty. For my main, I had a keema karahi, which wasn't on the menu, but when I asked, the waiter said, " No problem, sir, we can make that for you" The curry is what blew me away. It is probably in the top three meals I've ever had in my life. The chef here is at the top of their game. If you like a good curry, this is the place to go. I am so glad I have found Jahan lounge because I no longer need to drive all the way to Bradford anymore, I have found a hidden gem right on our doorstep.

Booked Sunday 530pm. Venue is lovely and such a large room. Lovely bar area with cobra on draught Staff helpful and lovely really seem to care. Menu extensive many interesting dishes. The Railway dish is red hot and so full of spice and flavour. All meals and starters beautiful. Great sized portions. One of the best curries in years The approching driveway is a tad dark but the large car park is well lit. Cannot wait to go back.

Just visited this new Indian restaurant located within the golf house. Previously known as the Dintingdale. On entering the restaurant you have some nice formal seating to have a drink whilst waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. The restaurant itself is well laid out with comfortable seating and tables that are well spaced out. During our visit it was not that busy, and noise levels were low but with the soft furnishings this should be the same during busy periods. The service was perfect, polite, professional, timely and relaxed. My wife and I enjoy a nice curry now and again and have to say that is the best complete meal we have ever had. Everything we had was freshly cooked, spiced as we like it and all served piping hot, plates included. The meats, chicken , lamb were tender no fat or gristle and all at sensible prices. We are already making plans to return with some more of our friends.

A lovely addition to the choice of local eateries. Lovely food and very reasonable in a nice setting with friendly staff. It's very new but really deserves to be successful. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Visited this new restaurant boxing day. They serve all sorts of meals from your normal Indian meals to kebabs and burgers. It's only just opened so we thought as a family we would try it on boxing Day. They had had a lot of cancellation's due to the COVID scare. They don't know what they missed. Lovely food very good portions and very tasty and competitive prices. Anything we couldn't eat, they boxed up for us to take home. Definitely going back. The restaurant is on the top floor of the golf club and it's done out very well

Just had a takeaway and impressed last used this place a couple of years ago and the food was bland. They have definitely upped their game. Great starter main with free masala chips two popadoms and two chappi. Chicken dansak 8.95 onion baji 3.95 chappi 1.00 each and popadoms 90 pence each.

This place takes your takeout order online. When you go to pick up,the place isn’t open . You are then told to go to their other place, which is in Beverley. You are given an option to pay by card online or cash on pickup, always put CASH . Takes a long time to get money back for card. Payment!

Food was ok Samoas looked frozen then deep fried, food a little over priced, £16 odd quid for a lamb tikka is a bit steep. The location of the restaurant is strange and it look a bit tired on the outside and greeted by 2 females hopping of a bus to use the rear of the restaurant as a wild toilet, it came across like a discussed service station. Service was good but was not busy at the time so was one course after another. We only went as it was down the road from the hotel we stayed at, but it appears they rely on passing trade or takeaways more. It was different to our usual Indian back at home. If I was to visit York again I don't think I would return to this restaurant
