Got a takeaway. Straight away poperdoms were like gone off crisp. Was the worst meal we have had in a long time.. fair play to the guy came out with more poperdoms, and offered a free starter. But the whole lot seemed like it was this afternoons food. And if your gonna have you over with a poperdom, don't trust the rest. Definitely won't be going again regardless of all the good reviews I've read baffled as to why..

Being brought up in Batley…. I know a good curry and I enjoy mine hot. Since living in Church Fenton I have struggled to find an Indian that can cater for someone who enjoys a hot but tasty curry….they always arrived either sweet or too spicy and tasteless. That’s until I found the Saffron in Sherburn. The food is absolutely unbelievable. Arrives, hot, tasty and they cater to what we need. I always ask for a dish ‘naga strength hot’ and each time, whatever I ask for it’s amazing. If I could afford it & my waistline would allow it I would have a Saffron every night! Truly excellent chefs. Please never leave the area! I recommend to everyone who enjoys tasty curries!

We've been going to this local saffron for years, never once have we been disappointed with the food, service and atmosphere. The staff are really kind and easy to get along with. There keema madras always keeps me coming back for more! It's not everyday that you see a twelve year old order a keema vindaloo, so they have been very surprised at my spice tolerance. With nowhere round here doing tikka kebabs on naan Saffron came through and saved the day! Even made a bespoke chilli sauce which was top notch and hit the spot I've missed since moving here.

The food was really good, fast service, authentically made. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately there was a problem with the air con when we got there so it was a bit cold but the problem was resolved and we were warm quite quickly. Would definitely eat here again.

If you want a stroke, order the chicken pakora. The amount of salt makes it inedible. The chicken shashlik comes with no sauce so I'd order sauce unless you want a dry dish

Food was fine. It was nice, portions aon the small side. Was told when I wanted to pay by card that it was cash only. Would have been nice to been made aware of this when we booked the table and/or when we arrived and definitely before we ordered. In this day and age I find this unacceptable to not be able to pay by card / tap and pay. Had to walk to the ATM. 🙄

Had a carryout but it was pretty bland and relatively expensive compared to what we can have at home.

We went with our family, 5 adults and 2 children. It was a Monday night and not very busy which is surprising given the high quality and low price of this amazing restaurant. Immediately BYO saves money. The starters and mains were brilliant, the selection vast, and the flavours were incredible. Our son and his family eat a top class Asian restaurants in the Midlands and thought this meal was amongst the best he ever tasted. We had loads and the price tag of just over £110 for 7 of us was extremely reasonable. Highly recommended. The only drawback is cash only which is a shame and probably affects the numbers they could do

Take away order This is the worst curry I’ve eaten 1 X Mango Chutney Watered down Mint chutney watered down 2 X Plain Popadom ok 1 X Onion Bhaji poor Salad non existent 2 tablespoons in the bottom of a plastic bag if that! Mint Sauce watered down 1 X Keema Mattar ok according to my husband. 1 X Chicken Achari salty unappetising I like salt in food. Goodness knows what anyone else would say it taste like 1 X Cucumber Raitha A carton of yogurt with huge uneven chunks of cucumber not stirred in no taste at all 2 X Garlic Fried Rice fluffy boiled rice not pilau coloured but not mixed properly no flavour apart from oil no cardamom to give flavour. Definitely the worst curry ever had. I for one will never give this establishment any more money Over rated reviews for this establishment

We often visit Saffron as it is a short walk from our house. The food is always delicious, the service excellent, and is good value for money; especially if you get the deal on a Monday or Thursday. The restaurant is bring your own booze which makes the value even better.

By a country mile the best take away curry I've ever had...and I've had many haha! Fresh flavours, huge chunks of chicken, rich sauce, no oil, propper chapattis and great service! Can't wait to take the manager on his offer and go to eat in. Thanks lads!

Went to Saffron tonight as a couple to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. Staff very busy, in fact the place was full, but the two waiting staff were very attentive and the meal superb, the nicest lamb mint zest I've had since it was put on the menu by previous owners. Well done the waiting and kitchen staff👏👏

Dropped in without booking a table and was shown straight to a table, all staff very polite, food was bought to table very quickly and was absolutely fantastic - great place to eat

Been here for a meal for my birthday with my sister and brother in law and hubby service nice and friendly staff and brilliant food only down side no toilets for disabled downstairs will definitely be going back.

Been going to Saffron for at least 10 years now. Love their style of cooking. However, sometimes, in the past few years it's been hit and miss. Veg dishes delivered with meat (Achari veg arrived with mince), or half full with very oily topping. After lockdown, which is a good way off now, I feel the dishes have been on another level. Not a bit of oil to pour off. Rich, gravy style sauce. Superb. Called tonight to convey this to the chef, whoever it is! Please keep up the good work when making out custom curries (Veg Achari/Veg Garlic Naga hot) very accomodating. Keep making those sauces with minimal oil and fill those foil trays to the top with goodness! Thank you 😁

Possibly the worst Indian food I have ever eaten, first time I tried this place and it’s a shame, the chips were microwaved to the point the box was partially melted and they Were stale. The bahjis were inedible just hard and stale. And the curry like I say was below standard to the point Im not even going to eat it, maybe a bad day for them I don’t know but deffinately not impressed at all if I could give below 1 star I absolutely would.. save your dissapointnent if your looking for good quality food

The food here is delicious. It’s definitely unique. The lamb biryani was so succulent and flavoursome. You can tell it’s fresh and quality ingredients that are being used. The sauces are different too and they really enhance the meal. Customer service is also top quality....

I entered the premesis on the 7th of August at 17:58pm. Within a nano-second, the aroma of fresh and fragrent spices began scintillating my nostrils. This sensation led me to becoming a ravenous individual, which is why I was delighted when the memebers of staff escorted me to my table, it was like I was the starship enterprise going into warp. Once my buttocks where planted firmly on the 'DFS level comfort' seats, the food that was served to me was on a level so good, it was as if I had never experianced flavours, until I took a bite of my scrumptious king prawn sagwala. The combination of spices sent my taste buds dancing, jiving and doing the cha cha cha to the point where I was have deep and meaningful thoughts such as 'what is the meaning of life without a king prawn sawala'... and this was just the first mouthful. The service was stupendous, the food spectacular and the overall experiance sensational. I will definitely be returning, hungry for more.

Have their deliveries, which are usually good, and the food at the restaurant was nice too. Shame about getting the worst table in the restaurant, at the bottom of the stairs to the toilets, by the kitchen entrance, and behind their (noisy) cutlery sorting area. I think I'd describe their service as "relaxed".

Rice was dry, chicken was tough, sauce didn't really taste of much, quite bland, very disappointed.

Ordered from Saffron's new ecommerce website yesterday. Very simple and easy to use. Delivery time was an hour but food arrived after only 40 mins. Delivery driver was friendly and covid safe. Food was piping hot and very yummy as usual. Great service.

Ordered from here a couple of times. Chicken pieces in the curry are too large and alwaysdry . Chips are soggy. Cheese nan bread had a single cheese slice in. It is edible but poor quality food.

Really don’t like leaving bad reviews but got to this time I’m afraid. Ordered Dhal, shashlik, Rogan josh and naans to be delivered. All lacked flavour. Dhal resembles soup and was so bland. No seasoning at all. Shashlik was just onion, very little chicken and no paneer and lacked any flavour. Rogan Josh was bland too. Just didn’t seem fresh. Delivered on time and the guy was very friendly. Naans were small. Popadoms soft. Don’t know what happened but it was not good all round.

Can't fault saffrons been going here for years and never had a bad meal! Noah and his team do a great job and produce tasty food and a very good price! I always say they need to increase the prices its that good vaule!

We accompanied some friends for a New Year meal, being told at the point of booking that there would be two sittings - 6.30 and 8.30pm. We booked for 8.30 and arrived with ample time before. Arriving at the restaurant, there was a long line outside the front. Staff appeared to be in no rush to move on the previous sitting and we were outside, in the cold until seated at 9.15pm.Our order was not taken for another 30 minutes and although the restaurant is "bring your own booze", we were provided with no glasses, having to ask waiters three times over an hour for this to be provided. as I was on soft drinks, numerous requests were made for a coke to be brought to the table. When the cutlery was brought, it was thrown down onto the table. Our starters were produced at 10.15, almost two hours after our initial booking time, and the main at 11.05pm, meaning we were not leaving until 11.30 - we had not planned nor wished to spend three hours of our new year here.When the food was ordered we were initially informed that they had run out of poppadoms - a curry house staple. They advised that they had not anticipated how busy it would be - all of the tables had been pre-booked.When the food was brought out, the curries were brought first, with sides and sundries being brought out in drabs, approximately 10 minutes later by which point the curries were cold. Each curry had no more than three pieces of meat (it was more a soup than a curry). The waiters had no sense of what food was ordered at the table, often bringing the wrong type of rice. On bringing the food, we were then told that there were no more "garlic and coriander, and peshwari naan's" as they had again run out and the chefs would need to prepare more if these were wanted - despite the food being ordered over an hour and thirty earlier!Staff appeared disinterested and dismissive when complaints were raised, one making a poorly judged attempt to lighten the mood by joking over the mishaps. To summarise - no preparation, poor food, appalling service and an overall disappointing experience.

Booked a table before we came early doors. We got seated at a table near the kitchen where it was clod as the door was open. we ordered food and it took awhile before it came, as it was busy with lots of take away orders. Only 2 front of house staff dealing with a large party and a few more tables and a phone that wouldn't stop ringing was inadequate.The food was lovely and very good value for money.When it came to clearing the table, it took a long time and when we asked for the bill it just never came. Only when we went to the bar area we asked for the bill which we got, but as we were checking the bill, he took it away, so we asked for it back again, which he huffed and puffed. When we left we didn't even got a thank you or a goodbye.Weird set up, but can't fault the food. Not going back in a hurry, as we prefer both a good service and good food

We visited here regularly love it. Went yesterday and paid £40 for 3 courses for 3 of us. Being able to take your own alcohol makes it a really cheap night out and the food and service never disappoints. We will be back soon.

Visited on Monday 4th November with three mates for an early evening meal, haven't been for some time and I have say it wont be long before we return. Tidy attractive décor, excellent service and very good food. All four of us had different starters main courses and shared a variety of sundries, new to us were the garlic chapatis. Could not fault the place in any way, the guy that looked after us was pleasant and would seem nothing was a problem, will be back

1st time I have been. The staff where welcoming and the place is nicely presented. The good was fantastic and very reasonably priced, will go again when I am in that area.

Good value and varied menu, the onion bhajis were the best I’ve had. You can take your own drinks so it is very affordable. There is a small car park behind the restaurant. The staff are very friendly, informative and helpful. Recommended.

As we are new to the area we decided to try out Saffron as we enjoy going to Indian restaurants every other week! We usually had to travel a long way for a very good Indian restaurant but after tonight’s visit to Saffron it’s safe to say we will be returning often! Excellent service, clean, and modern setting.... also felt very welcome by the staff and the food was outstanding from the pickle tray through to the mains. Thank you to the staff at saffron see you in a couple of week!
