Many people might think that a village curry restaurant couldn't compare with the big cities, but Nij and his amazing team travel across from Bradford every day to serve outstanding Bangladeshi dishes. The food is amazing and the service is wonderful. We are always so well looked after, and Nij and his team will do all they can to suit your requirements. Sunar Bangla is a true gem. Please note that it is cash only, and that is a good thing. You will absolutely love this homely restaurant at Church Fenoon train station. Yep, you can get a train directly to it. You will return, I promise.

The best wee curry house in Yorkshire. Also the friendliest. Cards not accepted. It is the old train station waiting room, in Church Fenton, and you can get a train right to the door. The owner, Nij, is such a polite lovely man. If you want your curry hotter or less spice, he will accommodate you and offer advice and ideas. You will so enjoy your dining experience at Sunar Bangla. I am privileged to live in a village with such an amazing Bangladeshi restaurant. Many people might consider that a village curry house cannot compete with the cities and towns in Yorkshire but Nij and his team travel from Bradford every day. They are such a great team. If you visit Sunar Bangla you will want to return.

Excellent venue, great food, and good value for what you get. The only downside is they don't accept cards, so be prepared for that, and bring cash!

Have been with partner many many times and with a group many times.Relaxed atmosphere.Nig is very much on the ball with his welcome witty jokes and makes you fell very relaxed also any choice can be altered to your taste.Attention to detail is good in my book.He always remember us and nows what wine and sometimes what we are going to order.Great service and not over priced.

Our 1st visit this weekend while we were visiting Tad Caster, the restaurant had a lovely feel to it and all the staff were lovely. The food was delicious we had the korma and the vindaloo with mushroom rice. The naan bread was amazing too. The portions were plentiful and we will definitely be going back on our next visit to Tad Caster. Thanks for the brilliant service and were see you again soon 😀

I ordered a take away and didn't dine in the restaurant. The staff were polite and very helpful on the phone. The food was ready in good time and when I picked it up the staff were excellent. The food was very tasty with excellent naan bread . I'd definitely recommend it for a cheap and cheerful takeaway

Sunar Bangla was reccommended by a friend and we weren't disappointed! It was slightly out of the way for us, but worth the trip. The staff were just lovely and the food was outstanding. not at all oily, but super tasty. my partners tikka masala was a bit sweet, but as a tikka masala is an absolute cop out of a dish I really didnt care. The other dishes were absolutely spot on, the garlic naan bread was to die for. I'm looking forward to returning and trying something new. Sunar Bangla is my new favourite though, worth the longer journey.

ordered lamb bhuna and garlic Nan to take away got home it was chicken bhuna in stead and garlic Nan was not nice at all phoned them up didn’t seem to be bothered it is normaly nice food won’t be going back any more not worth it to be honest

Walked in because of the infusing welcoming smell and I've missed my train but I'm glad that I did! Food was absolutely fantastic, Best Naan I have ever tasted, made fresh. Great restaurant, very calming atmosphere, the owners must be proud.

Take away food this evening was luke warm, very watery and bland tasting. Ordered a chicken razala and a chicken tikka masala. Lots of water left on plate.

The Sunar is a nice restaurant in Church Fenton station. The food is amazing. Chicken Chatt, Chicken Madras, and chicken Sashik all bang on nice flavours, a bit of spice. Only 48 quid 2 starters 2 mains, Rice, nan bread, and a bottle of wine. Will definetly be back.

We have not been here for about 20 years and after our visit tonight we will be regulars once again. Food spot on like we remembered all those years ago. Nidge is a fantastic front of house host and looked after us superbly. Will return with family in the near future, this place is amazing.

One of many revisits here Friday Saturday Sunday best call to pre booked. Very popular restaurant and takeaway has well. Saturday night we attended at 19:00 it was near a full house. Note it’s in the old booking office room above the station per above fills up quick with diners. Nig has the experience well under control nothing too much trouble. A testimony to the lads who slave next door in the kitchen must be mentioned. Big varied choices on the menu from traditional to church Fenton specials. Footnote …. We will only eat at this restaurant even though we travel 26 miles and return. 110% recommendations here

Absolutely the best Indian food I’ve ever tasted. We had the “set menu for 2” and loved every bite of it. The amount of food was very generous, the staff was very polite and informative. Their knowledge of the cuisine made our choice of meal easy. We are going back there tonight!!

Really liked this place. Bit random being on a railway station but it definitely adds the unique charm. I was dubious at first but was instantly impressed by attentive and dedicated service. Food was absolutely delicious. Consisting of tender chicken cooked in a genuine tandoori and the naan bread was cooked to my specific request of it being crispy and golden! Only down side was they do not take card, but food this tasty it is most forgivable. Obviously a popular destination as place was rammed. Possibly some slight refurbishment may give the place a slightly more impressive shine. Satisfied customer though.

I moved to church Fenton almost a week ago and noticed this place was right opposite my new flat. The waiters are so respectable and also the food is amazing.

A Fantastic Restaurant situated in a fantastic location. The Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is great. The Chicken Curry, Rice and Nan Bread are lovely.

Amazing food with such a kind and welcome service!

We went to Sunar Bangla the night Nij opened the doors over twenty four years ago and it is still our favorite restaurant for Indian cuisine today. Unfortunately, now living in Canada our visits are not quite as frequent as when we lived in Church Fenton but Nig still remembers our favorite dish and exactly how we like it. If you have never been to see Nij I seriously do recommend you try the wonderful food they make. One little warning.... take cash. There is no card machine at Sunar Bangla but other than that, you will love it. I recommend the garlic chili chicken with mushroom rice with a garlic Naan.🙂

This trew me when we arrived here, it was a train station 🚉 we were totally confused but a door lead to this place and what a find! Brilliant service and beautiful food, while in there it was full of locals I think that speaks volumes. Just a heads up though it is cash only

A super restaurant with a warm and friendly welcome. Lovely delicious food and lots of it. The menu explained and a very helpful waiter making a great dining evening. If you are a train spotter it is even more perfect as it overlooks Church Fenton station. I will certainly visit again.

In case you'd not notice in previous reviews. I am technically a 'track-basher' a sub-division of train-spotting. I have travelled on 80% of the UK rail network, with my friend Phil, the WHOLE Irish (N+S) network and the Dutch network apart from Gouda cos of engineering. Chiz chiz.Anyway my sister live near Church Fenton and picked my family and I up at Church Fenton station about 30 years ago. I was intrigued by this Indian above the railway but only persuaded my Sister and 2 brothers-in-law (one called NeAl, the other NeIl, what family fun that's caused over the years) to visit last night. Anyway the very pleasant maitre'd soon picked up the vibe and we were sat by a window, open curtains for a good view of the lineside activity. He took the order with expert advice and suggestions. I had a Shami Kebab with Lamb Moss Balti, pilau rice and a chapati. They do have some 'signature dishes, Joy Bangla and the eponymous Sungar Balti I was advised may have too many vegetables for you Sir, but NeIl took the chance. Sister tried and enjoyed the fried fish starter and the King Prawn main as well. She's always loved fish, not like me at all. I did spend a lot of time on the platforms ... but all enjoyed their meals.The venue is part of the old booking office and it features several photographs of the station as it was. Good value and especially recommended to ECML enthusiasts.

Sunar Bangla is somewhere we can count on for wonderful food and amazing service. Nig and his staff are always friendly and welcoming, with great suggestions for alternatives to our usual favourites. Church Fenton has been extremely fortunate to have this restaurant in the village for so long, being an even greater asset during Covid.

Very small, nothing fancy but nice curry house. It is hard to find a good curry house within this area and this one seems to be nice, everything is cooked fresh which is amazing. Definitely my first choice of take away. Cash only also due to it being based in an old train station waiting room and has a signal issue. 10% off on collections. Delivery not available.

Up there with the best I have had. The chicken tikka pathia had the hot, sweet and sour flavour the dish is meant to have but is so lacking at many restaurants.

Do not let the train station fool you! Me and my partner found this hidden gem by accident due to missing our time slot at a pub further up road we decided to try and find somewhere else since we travelled 20 minutes already I refused to turn back home without having a full belly first! I was skeptical at first with it being inside a train station but seen this restaurant had fantastic reviews so we decided to try it and was the best decision. I’m going back and taking more people with me to try. The waiters absolutely fantastic so polite and nice called me and my partner sir and madam they can not do enough for you and advise you to tell them if your food needs anything doing to it such as less spices or more spices they want you to have a good time and enjoy what your eating. It’s not just your everyday Indian cuisine it’s authentic probably the best Indian food I have ever had and the prices are good too so cheap for the food that you receive. It’s small and personal and I have never had such good customer service in my life we tipped at the end and the waiter was so greatful and couldn’t say thank you enough. It’s clean and the food comes out hot and quick I can’t wait to go back and try rest of the menu

Having arrived in Church Fenton for a week's holiday we didn't fancy cooking so ordered a take-away meal form Sunar Bangla. The food, service and the bottle of beer were all excellent. We had lamb balti with rice, naan and a side of bombay aloo. The food was well cooked and not greasy like Indian food can sometimes be.

We tried Sunar Bangla for a takeaway during a recent visit to Fenton and were so impressed that we were back there again a couple of nights later. There was great variety to the menu, the chef's specials we tried were distinctive and the daal was perfect. Prices were very reasonable for everything and the staff were incredibly friendly and polite. Will definitely back on future visits to the area. Only one slight inconvenience - cash only.

Cannot currently dine in due to Covid19 but picked up a takeaway last night. Quality and taste was superb, just the same as the restaurant, and all the staff are always really friendly and helpful. Looking forward to them reopening when they can. Particularly recommend the Chicken Tikka Pathia!

Brought our friend who lives in Scarborouh to try, and he loved it. As per usual, the curry is spot on. They always make me a nut free chicken Tikka as it's my all time fav! The main waiter is the most humble, courteous and friendly person ever! They even gave me a bunch of flowers when I came for a birthday meal with some friends!! We use this curry house every time! I wish they took card as sometimes we have to have other take aways/go to the pub down the road because we dont have cash and church Fenton doesn't have a cash machine! But other than that, perfect! Mmmm I want a curry now....

Lovely and friendly and beautiful food

We called in last night for a takeaway and the restaurant was absolutely buzzing. The host, Nij, still had time to welcome my friends and me. Our curries were absolutely delicious. My friends loved the food and were so surprised at the warmth of the hospitality shown to them. We even dined here on Christmas Day and that was awesome.Sunar Bangla is such a wonderful hidden Gem that must be visited. It opens 5.30pm Tuesday - Sunday. Cash only. Cards not accepted. A wonderful wonderful restaurant!

Having tried a few of the other local takeaways, this has to be by far my favourite. Fantastic experience from start to finish. They are all lovely, so nice and polite on the phone when taking the order. Didn't make me feel rushed once even though it was no doubt a busy Saturday night for them. Collection was the same, very warm welcome. We arrived slightly early to collect but our food was ready promptly. The food itself was delicious, fantastic flavour and quality all for a very reasonable price. This one is definitely worth the drive to the next village for so we will 100% be returning!

This Bangladeshi Restaurant in the village of Church Fenton is very special. It is located at the train station and the dishes are very delicious. The service is superb. The owner Nidge is so attentive and kind. My favourite starter is the Chicken Chaat or the Royal Mixed Kebab, both of which are delicious and for main course try the 'Bangla Taste', chicken or lamb. or the 'Moss Balti'. You can get a train from Leeds or York (under 15mins). NO CARDS ACCEPTED. We in our village are so lucky to have this wonderful eatery on our doorstep. You will so enjoy this experience. We go every weekend! ENJOY!

Sungar Bangla well we drive from dewsbury to church fenton infact has i type this we go in a hour ive lost count how many times weve been here. fantastic food plus staff note its cash only the dishes are ace and dont have the oily greasy look thats right up or street for us ! plenty to choose from and you can mix and match if your unsure Nig will help you out ! its a gem here im sure you will agree if you either call in for a sit down or takeaway popular place

We visit Sunar Bangla at least a couple of times a month. The food is fantastic! I am vegetarian and the chef adjusts meals to suit my taste and so I can try dishes which aren't normally veggie.
