The Ulleskelf Arms is recently under new management and they have done an amazing job with the revamp. The atmosphere is welcoming, variety of drinks is good and the food is highly recommended. The Sunday roast was great and we will be returning again to try the rest of the menu. They usually have weekly events ranging from quizzes, beer festivals and food vans that are always great quality. Definitely worth a trip out!

In a time of pub closures, villages are desperate to keep their pubs open. This is probably one of the greatest pubs with a good all round reputation over the surrounding villages, the landlord is hard working and tries his best to please and accommodate people to the best of his ability. I am astounded that some locals are so small minded that they feel the need to post negative remarks about a place that can seat 10 people on a busy afternoon at 2 hours notice. Perhaps they have an alternative agenda? Maybe they or a close relative works in a restaurant nearby that could not accommodate them! The quality of the food that come out of the kitchen is certainly not what you would expect from a PUB but more of resturant quality at pub prices. The craft beers vary with usually 4 available to chose from, and the choice of wines are limited but good. Again this is not what you would expect from a local village Pub.Monday nights, when most establishments are shut the ullskelf arms is getting busier and busier with its Pie night!!!, Fantastic homemade pies and a pint for a tenner is not a huge bill. All the pies are made in house with localy sourced ingredients, I dont know how they do it. My recomendation is the fish but I have never heard a bad word against any of them.Well worth a visit and families are welcome.

Visited our local pub last week and unfortunately was very disappointed. From luke warm food (some of which was returned to be heated) to a distinct lack of staff. The night was very busy and to be fair to the pub we were a relatively large party which booked just 2 hours before we wanted a table but that being said one person behind the bar, one person waiting on and one person floating around doing not a great deal didnt make for a pleasant experience. All that topped off with a hefty bill and a chair breaking whilst one of our party was sat on it means we wont be returning in a hurry. To be asked if he was ok would have been a start but to make a joke about ruining the furniture without a second thought for the 50+ yr old man on the floow is just poor customer service at its best.

Visited this evening with my partner and his parents. We were just looking for a quick dinner and so glad we happened to come here. The pub is pleasantly decorated and there is a beautiful dog that greets you when you enter. She doesnt jump or lick, just a nosey and comes for a scratch then wanders off. We ordered our starter and mains, two mussels and one black pudding. I had the mussels and they were amazing! Lovely warm bread served with and the cream sauce was delicious! There was ample in the bowl i shared with my partner after he finished his black pudding which he loved too. Then for main we were all shocked at how big the portions were and they didnt lack in taste because of this. They were yummy!! I had beautiful ribs that fell apart and the others loved their pork dish, steak and fish and chips. I personally wouldnt order a starter again as the main was so big i couldnt finish it but thats not a negative! Then the puddings, i had panacotta from the specials and it was delicious! The others had chocolate and warm ginger sticky pudding. I tried them all....delicious too! Overall lovely evening, so much so i have cancelled my birthday meal at a curry restaurant and bringing the whole clan here instead!

When so many village pubs are closing down and getting boarded up, it is so nice that our local has had a fantastic facelift inside and out and is now a great place to go for great food or chill out with a drink after a busy day. The staff are friendly and the waiting staff are eager to please to ensure you are looked after. We've eaten there a few times now and have no complaints with tasty food served in good portions. We particularly enjoy the pie nights and theme evenings. I would certainly recommend a visit whether you are a local or are just passing through. A warm welcome awaits all.

No specials, and only 4 of the 7 main courses available at 7.30 on a Saturday. Waiter said there was no chef. Food was at best, average. Over cooked and dry. Only 3 dessert options. There are quite a few pubs within a 5 mile radius that offer a very good Sunday lunch but as we are moving to Ulleskelf we thought we would try it. We wanted it to be good and it was, we were over the moon with the place, very good food, nice decor, friendly staff, good selection on tap, and to top it off a pub dog! We were a group of 6 attending for a friends birthday meal - service with a smile was excellent . Small menu but plenty of choice , and food served was beautiful. I can’t understand where the bad reviews about the dog have come from . “Dexter” the lurcher was laid on his bed , keeping himself to himself and only really moved when customers ( myself included ) encouraged him over to say hello. The owners continuously checked to make sure he wasn’t making a nuisance of himself which of course he wasn’t .... overall a fantastic visit and would defo recommend

I visited the Ulleskelf Arms a few weeks ago, what a change from how it used to be! It's much more pleasant and friendlier, and much cleaner! The menu was really good which I didn't expect and the food was excellent, and I have no real criticism of the prices (how can pubs like this survive without at least being allowed some profit?) so my overall view of the Ulleskelf Arms is positive.

Second time we have visited for Sunday lunch, good choice on the menu, even to the fact that they offer a reduced size portion (at a reduced price too!), If i have one complaint it is that maybe the staff could be a little more aware when glasses are empty, and check if you want a drink, but it's not a major thing, and I know some don't like staff checking, and prefer to call them when they want. As for the dog, we have not noticed him(?) mooching around while people are eating, and the dog is well behaved.

I visited this pub last weekend with my step-dad. Just turned up out of the blue looking for a quick Sunday lunch as neither of us could be bothered to cook. The gentleman behind the bar (I'm guessing the landlord?) was very accommodating and made a table available to us straight away. We both had leek and potato soup which was gorgeous followed by a beef roast dinner with all the trimmings. Again, it was very nice and plenty of it. If I had to give one small quibble it was that my step-dad doesn't like his meat pink so was a little disappointed that he wasn't asked how he liked it cooking. He did however eat the majority of it so can't have been that bad. Anyway, I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

I can't help but copy other statements as to "Lovely Sunday Lunch" but it is simply true. That being said my wife was disappointed with her "medium rare" roast beef which was much closer to "well done". I suspect the reason was that we were the first diners of the day and she got the first cut which is clearly more cooked than the centre but she did not get what was advertised. The rest of us did, we all enjoyed our mains and sweets and the pleasant service. Highly recommended, but if you like some blood in your beef its best to say so up front!

Recently under new management and already there is a great new buzz about the place. We have eaten here twice and on both occasions the feed has been very good. The fish and chip Friday is very popular so ensure you book in advance. We called in on a Thursday for tea - such a pity it was very quiet but the pie was delicious. The only thing I would change is the "fussy" food presentation - chips in a basket and on fake newspaper, little dishes for peas etc...is really not needed as the flavour and quality of the food stands up for itself. Will definitely be returning.

Went here for the first time on Saturday evening. I thought I would treat the wife to a birthday meal. I have passed this place a few times and thought it would be something quite special from the menu and pricing. In truth it’s nothing special at all. I was a bit put off by the people outside the entrance smoking…. One girl had no teeth. Great! I found it quite cramped inside, very noisy and the food was average at best. Garlic mushrooms were nothing to shout home about, nice but certainly not the best. We both chose the £28 beef stroganoff as a main. The beef was chewy and fatty. Honestly…. Marks & Spencer’s do a better version for £7 I love nice food, to eat in a nice atmosphere and sit amongst nice people. Price doesn’t come into if you feel you’re getting value for money in a nice setting. But Sapori 74 just isn’t that…. It’s ok. Just ok. Lastly….. the young lady who served us. Perfect! She was the highlight in a very average restaurant. Atmosphere: 4/10 Value for money: 4/10 Quality of food: 4/10 Decor: 4/10 Location: 4/10 Staff: 7/10 (young girl who served us 10/10) Overall: won’t be going again anytime soon. Disappointed.

Update 30/07/2024 - again closed at 1230 when the opening hours suggest it should be open. No idea what’s going on but I’m fed up of walking there to get coffee and it being closed. I don’t think I’ll bother again. Previous review: Really like coming for coffee here - I’d argue that their coffee is the best in Selby and the food is equally excellent. However, the last four times I’ve been with the intention of getting coffee they’ve been closed when they would normally be open with no notice to explain why, so I’ve no idea what’s going on or whether the opening days/hours have changed.
