Just a shame this place is shutting. It will be missed. Double egg and chips are a hit every time. One day I will, (before it closes) try something else

Lovely little cafe. Delicious food, plenty of parking outside, Nice friendly staff Had shopper breakfast, 5.90(ish) was perfect! Comes with a pot of tea. Full Monty 7.90 delicious and well worth it. Will be back again.

Such a great find. A little breakfast spot, with delicious breakfast plates. Good quality, we didn't leave a bite behind.

Called at Selby on our way to York and tried three different cafes non were dog friendly and then we found Abbey Cafe, they were almost ready to close but allowed us in with our dog and let us have a very nice cuppa and lovely sandwich with no time pressure to eat up. Very friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Selby needs to wake up to the amount of people with dog's who have money to spend.

It's not perfect but it's affordable and food is great !!! Food is served quickly and hot ! If you're ever in selby you would be doing yourself a favour if you found this place ! It's of the main street , 2 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle!!!!

Been coming to Abbey cafe for two decades now. Seen it change hands a few times and has always provided Quality food at a good price. Brilliant atmosphere and the owner and local customers will indulge in all the local history of Selby town and its surrounding areas. The Building itself seems very medieval and adds character to its surroundings. Inside is always spotlessly clean and staff are always on hand to take your order, and if you want a buttie to go then you can always order a takeout as well. The best fry up in town and we are never disappointed. Sometimes you might order a breakfast, Dinner or brunch and leave with a friend and a story to tell.

One of our favourite cafes. We go regularly and always enjoy the food and the atmosphere.

My fourth visit over from Sheffield and as many visits to this friendly eaterie tucked away just behind the main street. Tuna and onion panninis seldom come better than this, along with the fast of friendly service . (Dave , visiting cyclist from Sheffield)

Mega breakfast is superb, great value for money, bacon was delicious, lovely friendly and efficient staff. Low ceilings if tall so watch your head. Toilet upstairs. Pay/display parking directly outside and some 30 mins road parking slots. We'd definitely eat here again!

Called there today just on 2.30 and made us feel really welcome even though they stopped serving at 2.30 and close at 3 And what an all day breakfast We will be calling again but earlier ( promise )*****

Great vegan breakfast so it's such a shame that I was there for only one night. The only improvement could have been the offer of brown bread rather than just white. Ideal location and amazing value for money, too - only £8.10 for the meal and a pot of Earl Grey. How do they do it? Very pleasant and efficient staff.

Ordered 2 Toasted Teacakes waited 30 mins then reminded the staff when seen another customer being given a full English breakfast who arrived after us. Our order came out very soon after in fact too fast to a have been toasted just now, whit they came bothe were flat cold and hard wes sent them back soon after 2 new Teacakes arrived by this time I had finished my cup of tea the Teacakes were still hard so mh wife didn't eat it we paid and left never to return.

We visited Selby on Friday and had lunch in this lovely little cafe. What a find! The food was delicious and although it was busy (a good thing) the service was quick and the lady who served us was warm and welcoming. Bonus points for an excellent pot of Yorkshire tea!

Wanted somewhere different for breakfast . Searched reviews and Abbey Cafe had great feedback , so we went . I was not disappointed !!! Fabulous hot breakfast on a hot plate ( makes all the difference) . Service was amazing . Breakfast ? Wow, bacon nice and thick and cooked to our request. Lovely black pudding and fresh funny eggs . Cannot praise this little cafe enough . Will defo be going again. Thank you

I visit this little gem on a regular basis. I was in the other day when the staff received their latest rating from Environmental Health and was really pleased for them when they received yet another 5* rating. The staff work really hard to keep the cafe clean, especially as it is a very old building, and the food served is always perfectly cooked. The cafe is popular and more often than not fairly busy but the staff endeavour to serve you as quickly as they can. I have never experienced anything other than a lovely visit in all the time I've been going.

I think this cafe is utterly shocking the service was horrendous and also I got food poisoning I would avoid at all cost also the I got spoke to very rudely

This is our favourite place to come for a cooked breakfast! Great food at a good price (yes the prices have gone up but with everything that’s going on in the world this past few years that’s to be expected. And to be honest the amount you get makes it so worth it) Jackie, Brian and the ladies make sure you feel welcome every time.

We are told to support businesses after lockdown, but sadly the vast majority just rip off customers. In the last week prices up over 10%. So we get to the service. The manager took the order. But no idea where they got their junior staff from. She had the manners of an alley cat. Dropped the plates on the table and never asked which sandwich for which person. No communication, nor did she go get the knives and folks or serviettes. Self service now?

Had a breakfast advertised as a slimmers breakfast, I can highly recommend it. Food is always freshly cooked and reasonably priced.

Best value veggie breakfast in Selby . 2 fried eggs( or poached if you ask for them) , tinned chopped tomatoes , baked beans , 2 hash browns, mushrooms and toast for £5.50 . Tasty and filling and lovely friendly staff .

The cafe is rather basic but the food is good.

A fantastic breakfast and great value. Up in York for the weekend and this breakfast was the pick of the lot. Tasty. Great value and served with a smile which was fantastic as there were only two staff serving a busy cafe full of hungry diners. Testament to the good food that they were so busy. Not a spectacular venue but great food at a good price is always a winner.

Called in for cuppa on our way home. First time we have been in. Well worth a visit, they do all sorts. The breakfasts look good and plenty of choice and good portions. Only one lady on, but service was very good and friendly. The prices are reasonable as well. We will go in again the next time we are in Selby, and try something to eat as well.

A great welcome. Exceptional food. Top quality with sensible prices. Toilet is up a nightmare staircase. Nearest accessible toilet Costa about 300 yards away. The building is probably listed so not possible to go accessible. Please do visit here it's the best food in Selby.

Hadn't been in this cafe for years but it was lovely. Staff were great and the food was very good. I won't leave it so long next time.

Popped in this morning for Breakfast before a Meeting, chose the Full Monty & a White Americano Coffee, have to say, what a cracking breakfast, the best Full English I've had for ages & the Coffee was equally as good. The Cafe is super clean, the staff are friendly & welcoming. Great Food, Great Coffee, Great Atmosphere & Great Staff, what's not to like :-)

A friendly little cafe in Selby we received a warm welcome from the owner who was bantering with the regulars. The afternoon tea was delicious made and served by a lovely lady. There was so much we had to ask for a box to take some home. There was also a yummy panacotta with blackberries included which the lady had made.

Went for afternoon tea with my mum and sister this afternoon it was absolutely gorgeous definitely worth a try 😋😋😋

We cycled to Selby from Naburn Lock on the National Cycling trail (route 65) & went to Abbey Cafe for something to eat. I had full breakfast (excellent value) aka the full monty. Staff very friendly & we had a joke about it not raining, god being a Yorkshireman. All in all a very pleasant hour. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very friendly staff Good hearty food My brekky for the week sorted. The large baps fill the plate, unlike some cafes I've visited abbey cafe actually fill it aswell good coffee to accompany the breakfast.

Stopped off for a quick lunch. Owner very cheerful. Food good at very reasonable prices. Little in the way of Covid-19 precautions taken. Owner wearing a mask - around his chin! Places to sit outside, which we did.

Really relaxed atmosphere with excellent beverages and food

We were ready for a sit, a drink and a bite to eat and stumbled across this place. A pot of tea, a coffee, toasted tea cake and a chip sandwich were just what was needed for us to continue upon our way. There seemed a lot of popular dishes on the menu and neither of us could fault what we received from a pleasant and friendly member of staff.

This cafe is an absolute gem of a cafe. You are really warmly welcomed into the cafe, and nothing seems to be to much trouble. It's great listening to the banter between staff and the regular customers, which just adds to the warm atmosphere. The food is amazingly tasty, it's simple food cooked well, and no insult is meant when described as simple as it seems to be of great quality and cooked well!!!!

i am currently sat in abbeys cafe really nice and welcoming staff, breakfasts are too die for and at cheap prices too had a lovely hour in there relaxing also deffinatly recommend thanks abbeys cafe.

Went for a late breakfast with my daughter and her family. We were greeted by Brian a very friendly chap who welcomed us and got us all settled into our seats. We all had breakfasts and drinks all served in a timely fashion by the lovely staff. The place was buzzing with happy chatty customers. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Nice place nice good and wonderful host.
