First time trying this place.. Lovely and friendly staff.. Very busy... We ordered two belly buster hot sandwiches... Bacon, sausage, egg and a potato rostie... Not the best.... Just bland... No real flavour to the sausages... Or anything... My egg was over done... The potato rostie wasn't crispy.. £6 each was expensive for the quality and size that we got. It was just a bit dissapoining as all the other food looked great like the sausage rolls and fresh hot quiches ect...

We arranged my 60th birthday supper at the Pickled Postie. They do evening supper clubs. It was a fabulous evening. The food was exceptional, great taste and beautifully presented. Anna, who owns the Pickled Postie was very efficient and contributed to a wonderful memorable evening. Anna has recently re introduced the supper club evenings at The Pickled Postie, I would highly recommend them! We are very lucky to have the Pickled Postie in our village. As well as supper club, you can have breakfast, lunch, cakes and drinks in the cafe. Plus of course the Pickled Postie is a post office and general store selling newspapers, cards and essential provisions.

They were determined to cram in as many people as they could at the detriment to the customers experience. We had already ordered and food had arrived, but due to a large party of cyclists arriving we had to squeeze into a cramped space virtually sat on each other to accommodate them. Incidentally, they were seated scattered around a number of tables.and unable to converse as a group. Service was poor. This was consistent with our last visit in March, when we had to remind staff that we had ordered coffee etc. and felt very rushed as the woman in charge was more bothered about closing promptly at 2pm. However, on both occasions the poor service was rather funny, very Faulty Towers. The food was awful! Firstly we were not offered a choice of bread, just presented with cheap white bread rolls. The crisps presented on the side were soft and the chips hard and under cooked. Such a shame as we used to enjoy lunch there. Also a shame that they close so early on Saturdays, 2pm is extremely early when offering and serving lunch. And they are really missing out on business due to not opening the cafe on Sunday mornings. So to conclude we won’t bother to return in the near future.

I visited the Pickled Postie in Riccall - run by the same people as in Cawood hence my review. The cafe is in what was the Post Office in Riccall and the cafe has taken on the Post Office duties . Result? The place is neither one thing or the other. . The acoustics in the cafe are awful and are not helped by the very loud voice of one of the assistants. Inside was full so I went outside for my coffee. Quite honestly it was like sitting in an animal pen virtually on the pavement by the post box. The proximity of the main road meant that you were breathing in the fumes of the car and lorry engines plus listening to the passing traffic. The coffee was ok!

Weather was on our side, whilst cool, it was dry.Our trip was to make a visit The Pickled Postie, we have to say, what a great place. We were greeted by smiley happy looking & welcoming staff. The place was warm, clean and set our mood for a great light lunch. Not disappointed, great food, well presented and similarly delivered.Attention to detail was very good, table attention attentive, but not overboard. The Welsh Rarebit & Eggs Benedict were delicious. Great portions, indeed so good, we had no room for the fabulous dessert on offer. This means another visit, SOON...to embibe in pudding. The coffee is one of the best we have been delivered in the U.K., on parr with similar in Southern European cities. In all, well worth a visit.

Came for lunch. Even though a staff member saw us arrive and sit down, we were not offered a menu and sat waiting patiently for 15 minutes before seeking out menus for ourselves. We waited again and it was only when two other groups came in and ordered that we were able to ask if we could order as we had been waiting for over 20 minutes. Once we had ordered we were told there would be a 20 minute wait for food! When it eventually came it was lovely but this is not the first time I have had a lengthy wait here. The girl who we eventually persuaded to serve us did apologise for the wait but being ignored isn’t a great start to lunch! a shame because it does put you off returning.

Having heard good things about this place - including reviews here - four of us went in on Tuesday morning for breakfast. Lovely friendly welcome, and the full English is one of the nicest I've ever had (and I've had a few!). The others had great food too - my wife's eggs Benedict had home-made hollandaise sauce. Really good quality. The only downside was that we had quite a long wait for the food - one of the staff hadn't turned in and so they were struggling to keep up. We would definitely go again (and will do -it's not far from home)

After going for a delightful walk in nearby Bishop Wood, we ventured into Cawood looking for somewhere to have lunch.Whilst the external signage for the Pickled Postie looked like it served food, it wasn't clear if they had a seating area (though looking through the windows we were able to see it ).The Pickled Postie is a post office, deli, village shop and cafe all under one roof. The deli counter selling three types of pork pie, sausage rolls and a range of other savouries and cakes. the shop has a few cards, groceries, wine, and everyday items that people of the village may need. The cafe is approximate 20 covers situated towards the rear of the shop.We were greeted warmly by the two ladies as we entered and were brought menus to the table. The menu is small, but with plenty of choice to suit most people and reasonably priced (bacon/sausage sandwiches, breakfast, cold sandwiches, etc. ) There is also a specials board with items like eggs benedict and the creamy garlic mushrooms (which we both had). The coffee is tasty and served strong. The decor and ambience of the place is lovely. Bright, welcoming, comfortable and very friendly. Loved the duck wallpaper (go see). The garlic mushrooms were absolutely delicious and a perfect sized portion. Served in a dish with two slices of buttered granary toast. We brought home a cream slice and carrot cake as were too full to eat it there - both of which were divine! They also do special food evenings - most of the "tapas nights" were fully booked which was great to see!We will most definitely be back - I would even make a special trip! The Pickled Postie deserves to be a resounding success and I sincerely hope it is!

Four of us had a really enjoyable time at the pickled postie last Saturday lunchtime. We booked in advance and we were glad we did as it was constantly busy. We did have to wait half an hour from ordering to receiving our meals but that’s because everything really is cooked and prepared to order and everyone agreed it was worth the wait. We watched in eager anticipation as the chatty waitresses delivered plate after plate of enormous sandwiches and platters to other diners, taking in the very cute rustic decor. (What excellent use of what is really quite a small space at the back of the rejigged post office,a shop and deli too) Two of us had ploughman’s, pork pie, ham and cheese ! Huge portions but guess what? We finished every bit! Mum had a cream tea and my sister had cottage pie with homemade chips and homemade coleslaw. Yummy! Nobody was disappointed. We will be going again very soon and recommending it to everyone!
