We visited this place to get something to eat and drink after working all day. We stood at the bar for 10 minutes. And, although there were at one point 3 people behind the bar. Not one served or even made eye contact with us. People even came up to the bar, walked in front of us, and got served. We just left and went somewhere else.

Went recently been taken over, found new land lord very ignorant, i was wanting serving, he was on mobile phone behind bar whilst drinking a larger himself, he told me to wait, i gave up after 10mins and walked out, although Land lady was very welcoming and polite, respect to her..

Had a lovely pint of mild and a coke. Sensibly priced always worth a visit

The staff were very friendly, approachable and served with a smile. The food was absolutely mouth watering. It was managed so it wasn’t filled to capacity which made the atmosphere calm. Will definitely be returning

The food was great. I only gave 4 stars as some of the veg were a bit ropey. In general though the food was plentiful and hot. It deserves 4 and a half stars really but I don't have that option. They would have prepared vegetarian gravy if pre ordered but this wasn't a problem as the cheese sauce with the cauliflower was enough. The roast potatoes were particularly lovely. The dessert was delicious and I could not have complained about quantities of food. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff were really helpful and friendly. I must add that the toilets were absolutely spotless. The whole place was really clean actually. I will look forward to going again.

Was lovely cosy and food was lovely

It was okay, the building looked extremely ugly, old and deteriorated. Like a 5 year old was on the building site and started colouring on the plans. The male bathroom toilet has no light in the stall, making it difficult to see much. They did allow motorhome stopovers and had free WiFi and a free water refill point. The service was average, i wouldn't go here if I had other options, I can tell this is only for the locals but other than a few flaws it was okay and did the job.

Lovely Sunday lunch and served promptly. Food all piping hot and plenty of it. We couldn't fault it.

Never disappoints, we frequent the bay horse for a Sunday lunch probably once a month at least, the quality, portion size and price are all fantastic and the food it always served piping hot. Sunday lunch and a pint of ale for under £15 what’s not to love

We have been on numerous occasions now for Sunday Lunch never disappointed the food is amazing ( cauliflower cheese to die for) homemade Jam sponge and custard, the staff are fantastic and a great all round atmosphere. Keep up the great work Team Bay Horse and without doubt we will be returning

Came for Sunday lunch today. The table had been booked in advance - recommend you do this to avoid disappointment. We were blown away by the level of hospitality afforded to us by Dave and Kelly. Nothing was too much trouble. The roast pork and beef were delicious and the crackling was cooked to perfection. The fresh veg was plentiful and beautifully cooked and they even kindly boxed up our leftovers for our dogs - the portions were so generous we couldn't manage to eat it all! Excellent value for money, excellent service, excellent hosts. Recommend you give this place a try. Don't forget to book in advance though 😋

Discovered this pub whilst planning a walk by the canal. Lovely spot. Sunday lunch was delicious. Excellent value, generous portions and friendly welcome. Would definitely be back.

Had an awesome mixed grill here yesterday. It was HUGE.... couldn't finish it all though 😪 . Well worth a visit. Will be going again that's for sure.

Recommend the fish platter. We hadn't been here before but will be back. The food was excellent and the staff really friendly. We were on our barge and thought we would give it a try and were not disappointed. Only a short walk from the moorings.

Short of staff when we visited, but after partaking in a few beverages they managed to fit us in for a meal. Well worth the wait, Would be better to book next time 😉

My partner and I went to the pub for a drink and ended up having a meal. Sunday lunch to be exact and it was dreadful: a piece of fatty beef, very few washed out veg and powdered mash. Waste of money. Such a shame as the pub is perfectly placed and the feel of the pub is good.

Gorgeous Sunday dinner,even better curries on a regular basis,I'm very lucky to live close bye.

We have eaten here quite afew times. Food is always lovely. Landlord, landlady & staff are all really friendly. Locals always happy to chat & our 2 dogs couldn't be made more welcome.

This pub & their staff certainly are worth 5 stars, it's spotlessly clean, the food was excellent & it was very busy when we stayed here, well kept real ales and a good selection of wines. Simon and Becci made us very welcome, the locals were very friendly. Will definitely return when next in the area. 👍

We were a large group so there was a little wait between courses but the food was fine. Great selection of real ales from the Snaith brewery. Worth a visit

Went today for Sunday Dinner. Can honestly say that it was the best Sunday Dinner I've ever had. A big shout out to the amazing Chef Linda. The Bannoffee Pie was to die for. Thank you Linda. A lovely atmosphere and was made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be calling again xxx

Sunday lunch with friends. Absolutely super experience from start to finish. Friendly hosts including their son. We had a choice of 3 meats and 3 mash potatoes. Large and small portions were available. Food was superb and nicely presented. Good choice of desserts. Lime and ginger cheesecake was delicious. Couldn't fault the place, service and food. Oh and it's dog friendly too. Be sure to book though as it did get busy. Thank you for a delightful afternoon.

Came here today on our barge as this pub was recommended by friends & we wasn't disappointed, we had the roast beef dinner. The beef just melted in your mouth, all fresh vegetables, the landlord & landlady made us feel very welcome we will definitely be returning.

Excellent food, with a varied menu. Quality real ales, 3 on tap. Excellent service with staff very friendly and helpful - definitely well worth a visit!

We visited twice in 2 days as we were in the vicinity in our boat. Staff were amazing (Simon even offered us a lift to refuel). Food was great. Would highly recommend. We will definitely be back every time we are on that part of the waterway.

They were amazing. The chef came out to talk with my daughter who is GF to make sure she had exactly what she wantrd. ALL the food was amazing. There are not enough stars for these people.

Sunday lunch very good, usually four choices of meat, and tender. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Arrived a bit late Sunday afternoon so only caught the end of lunch service but it was still delicious. Excellent attentive service without being “in your face”. Very friendly.

We rang to see what time they finished with food on Sundays and were told they finished at 4pm but that they would keep some for us until 5pm. I have to say it was well worth the visit as the food and hospitality was first class.... The food was excellent with no room left for a desert... See you again soon John & Debbie. SYBC

Walked down on Fathers Day (June 21) with the wife and kids to find it shut. Very disappointed as usually a great little pub to visit.

A Really good Sunday Lunch even the wife admits as good as home-made all at a Yorkshire price.

First impression was a sinking feeling caused by worn out carpets and tired decor only ameliorated by the decent real ale available.. BUT the friendly smile and gentle Irish lilt of Moya the land lady completely dispelled this feeling in seconds. I can honestly say I've never had a friendlier welcome in forty years of visiting pubs! This was fortunate as we had just tied the canal boat up for the night so were stuck there. The Menu was at first sight simple but comprehensive with something for everyone. Given the surroundings and the "pug grub" pricing I didn't expect anything much better than something with chips. HOWEVER the food was an even bigger shock than the warm welcome. The starters were a work of art, the quality of the food, the quality of the ingredients used and the stunning presentation just blew me away. I have never had anything as good in a Gastro-pub and rarely in an expensive restaurant anywhere in the world (and I don't say this lightly). Ok fresh hand cut home made chips from the right variety of potatoes were available too and were delicious. This couple (Thomas and Moya) is completely wasted in a place like this, they should be running an up market Bistro or a Parisian cafe. Don't miss the seafood chowder but you need to hurry as I've heard a rumor they may be considering leaving soon due to lack of brewery support and investment. Only one small niggle, they don't allow dogs in the pub but it was a nice night so eating outside was very pleasant.
