We had a fabulous time at Sir Jacks. Food was great and the service was brilliant. All the staff were very attentive but not in a way you felt a burden! Special mention to Ben who went above and beyond to make sure we had a really lovely time, definitely be back

Extremely disappointed with my serving of Gluten Free Chips today. There were plenty of bad chips, over-cooked chips, hard pieces and slightly off colour chips. I only ate a small amount from the portion of chips I had been served and I ended up leaving the rest to throw away (see photo below)!! I will say the fish they serve at Jo Jo’s you can see looks and tastes nice and fresh inside and of good quality, however, the batter, in which the fish is coated in, can sometimes be overdone/overcooked. My experience over time has lead me to believe the chips are mostly of poor standard, ones I would not wish to eat. There is just too much inconsistency with the quality of chips to my annoyance, which is why I am writing this review to hopefully get the message across and see much improvement. I honestly can't fathom how this chip shop is 'UK's No.1 for 2024'. I am afraid to say I have tasted much better, chips definitely, elsewhere!!

Went in for an early evening drink and catch up with family. Service was excellent and friendly, which made us feel welcome. The atmosphere and energy in the wine bar were very positive, with great music seating areas and a cozy spot for a chilled evening.

My wife and I booked a special dinner at the Clock Tower restaurant at Netley Hall to celebrate a special anniversary. This reservation was made over the phone, the call-taker advised that she would put a note on the reservation noting that we would be celebrating 35 years together. We arrived and were warmly greeted by Ali who directed us to the bar where we had a pre-dinner drink. During this time we were presented with our dinner menu. This reservation was made, in part, based on the menu published on their website which I quote, “Our menu is packed with choices suitable for all palettes from succulent steaks to delicious fish courses.” The menu we were given could not have been further from what was advertised. The menu was simply dire. In fact the advertised menu was indeed a misrepresentation of what is actually being offered. **Please see attached screenshot of their advertised menu directly from the Clock Tower Restuarant website and a photo of the actual menu that they provided us** There is quite a difference between advertising rib-eye, sirloin and cote de boeuf and providing sausages and haddock. There is a complete misrepresentation of the menu on the Clock Tower Restaurant website. It in no way reflects what is actually offered. There was also a list of sandwiches on the dinner menu we were provided. Not exactly what most people are looking for when dining out, especially when celebrating a special occasion. At no time prior to arriving for our dinner reservation were we advised of the completely changed or alternate menu. Staff members advised that management will be moving to a wedding-only business model. It is outrageous that the person taking our reservation couldn’t have advised us accordingly. We ultimately chose to dine elsewhere. The website needs to be updated to reflect this meagre, limited menu so that potential diners can actually make an informed decision. Their website states, “Looking for something special? Then join us for an enjoyable evening”. We found nothing special about the Clock Tower or their menu. To continue to advertise a menu that they apparently are unlikely to present to diners borders on deceitful. Perhaps it is just incompetance? There are many great dining options in and around Shrewsbury. The Clock Tower restaurant at Netley Hall is certainly a place I would not recommend. Follow Up: I phoned Netley Hall the following day and spoke with Joe (accommodations manager) who advised that the menu can change from night to night based on how busy it is and the chef’s choice. This still leaves a situation whereby diners won’t know what the actual menu will be until their arrival!? He stated that he will advise the approrpiate manager to look into it.

Such a shame. The food here is lovely but we have ordered three takeaways so far and have always arrived on-time only to be kept waiting for at least 20 minutes after expected collected time. This latest time we arrived to be told it would be at least 30 minutes and for us to go away and come back. Service just not good enough.
