The pub that everyone wished was their local. Great food and amazing hospitality from the owners and their team. Wife and I were visiting for a long weekend and booked a table on Saturday. The food was that good that we changed our plans to came back again on the Sunday for a roast. Very dog friendly, owners dog sat downstairs, ours was allowed under the tables and a water bowl was brought. Can imagine it’s a beautiful pub in the summer. Thank you to the team for some lovely meals (The pie was a ‘proper pie’, not just a pastry lid - highly recommend)

What a beautiful pub! Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! A perfect country pub and highly recommended.

What a lovely little gem! Food was perfectly cooked and everyone was so polite. We were talking to the chef and his wife and they could not have been more welcoming. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

Nice village pub has good selection of beers

Enjoyed a lovely home cooked meal here - chicken and duck mains were juicy and sauces very flavourful. Cosy table by the fire with our dog. Friendly and welcoming staff, would visit again.

Wonderful atmosphere, warm and cosy in a nice rural village. Food was wonderful and inexpensive (I'm from London, mind!) Only downside NO SIGNAL! And no comp WiFi. Upside, quiet uninterrupted Sunday Lunch!

Great little place. Full of character and really nice staff. Head chef is a gentleman indeed - food was fantastic, will definitely return. Nice selection on the bar too.

Honestly didn't like it, even though I grew in the village I thought id take a trip down memory lane . Which is wasn't as it used to be a real pub back then. It wasn't busy yet the service was slow. Even though the landlord and lady was there ,they didn't even say hello, wasn't very welcoming was it? Asked what beer 🍺 was on to be told no ales from the pumps only bottled bitter. No variety of rums and bourbon, just regular ones.Not very good at all really. One pint of flat lager and a small glass of wine £10.50 a little pricey.

Oh dear, food and coffee was nice but the young staff need some training. We had to try and get someone's attention 3 times before they finally came over. Paying for the bill was also an known that needed to be worked out. Doesn't seem to be any process or training and when we went in it wasn't even busy so that's not the excuse. Hopefully they will take this onboard and improve as it is a nice little pub in a nice area.

Thank you so much for a great lunch today! The pub was quiet, but the 4 of us and my 4 month old son were made to feel so welcome. Food was very tasty, and we were put under no pressure at all to clear out at the end. The Rose was exactly what we needed on a wet Saturday lunchtime. If you're in the area and need good pub then just head over and enjoy!

Do not bother. We turned up at 6.30 on a Wednesday to find them closed. Specifically moored nearby to walk to this pub and were excited to visit. Does not advertise that a pre booking is needed anywhere. Doesnt answer repeated calls. Need to work on communication. I would expect they'd WANT my money considering the previous 18 months? Apparently not!!

Lovely little pub with excellent food. We ordered food on Monday (as a prebooked table), as a vegan I was extremely happy for a dessert (Don't get any these days). Biggest disappointment was them telling me they don't do vegan dessert anymore. Cosy location with the staff being so attentive and allowing dogs in is a bonus.

We had a lovely evening meal takeaway on Friday evening from Gillian, Rudi and co. at The Rose. Following staff recommendation, I opted for the steak and ale pie (which was fantastic) and my wife had the curry of the day which was equally so tasty. Both topped off by lemon cheesecake which was lovely Lovely historic village pub in the heart of Willoughby with cosy atmosphere and a warm welcome guaranteed, great choice of beers and wines, and delicious food. Needless to say, The Rose comes highly recommended 🍴🍽 🍺🥂🍷🥃

Anne & I had Sunday lunch there today. Surroundings very pleasant & tranquil. Food excellent. Timothy Taylor served at the perfect temperature. All in all and excellent lunch. The landlady & the staff we're very attentive & pleasant. Must be repeated.

Wonderful! We found ourselves unexpectedly out of supplies on a canal holiday so one crew member walked into Willoughby to do some shopping while the others went on to turn around and come back to pick her up. No shops but the Rose provided delicious takeaway fish & chips, gave our crew member a lift to the canal bridge, then came back to find our boat with the piece of fish they had forgotten to give her! Great food, great value and unparalleled customer service!

We popped in for a spot of lunch. Which was fab, everyone made us feel very welcome. BUT we have booked for our last holiday dinner tonight , so can't wait. Still can't make up my mind what to have. If you don't visit this fine establishment if you are passing you are mad.

Had the pleasure of lunch here today. Our first visit, and now wishing I had visited sooner. Staff and owners are very welcoming, food is delicious. Good selection of drinks, include ones sourced from near by. Even had the opportunity to chat to the chef. If you're passing by or living in the area and never visited, well......you're missing out. Also great for families with energetic kids as the village play park is just the other side of the fence. We'll be back very soon.

I went here today with some family members that aren’t local to celebrate the birth of my 6 day old daughter and Was made to feel like we weren’t wanted there at all. The staff are rude and instead of putting signs up of what they would like to happen in their pub regarding guidelines of Covid, they decided to be rude and out of order to my family causing a scene in front of other customers over the guidelines when they were not visible to customers. I won’t be going here again and am disgusted with how they approached us! No kind greeting, just utter rudeness!

Thank you all at the Rose for delivering a take out Sunday lunch for our mum who is self isolating due to her age, which meant we could not visit her on Mothering Sunday. An amazing service and piece of mind for us knowing she had a huge amazing roast and pudding thank you she loved it

Awful. Won't go back there in a hurry

Food was great tasting, we had 3 meat Sunday roast. Only issue for us was that menu stated that the pork came with sausage and stuffing as well as crackling. All our meals did not have these present. Shame for this reason we possibly would not visit again due to the lack of attention to detail.

Lovely village pub with a beer garden and with the park next door it is an excellent place to go with the family.

Lovely atmosphere, a bit off the beaten track. We only had starters, as it was Sunday, so no bar menu, but they were very good. Service good, overall a very relaxed experience. Will go again.

We came here after a recommendation from a colleague. Could not fault the food in terms of flavours. True home cooked food, top drawer. The only reason we give 4 stars is that the guys was not served hot...it wasn't cold but I it wasn't like you'd want it. The young staff were very polite and when I gave our feedback to the landlady, it was received in the gracious manner you'd expect. We are happy to recommend the Rose Inn and will be back!

Good food, good service. Very pleasant until I informed them we HAD NOT been charged for our main meals so our bill increased from £58 to £112. Thought I'd see if we could get a free coffee for my honesty. Reaction of manager spoilt evening. Man is a ####

Such friendly and very helpful staff and amazing atmosphere. We were stranded and needed a room and the staff helped out a lot. They could have just said we don't know but they made a huge effort to help us and even managed to get us a place to stay with one of the locals. One in a million. Will definitely be coming back soon. x

I love this pub/restaurant! Every time I visit here the food is amazing and the staff are delightful! I always bring visitors here and often go for a romantic dinner!

The food is delicious, and they have a Spanish tapas night the last Thursday of the month which is always amazing! Lovely, cosy country pub!! Love it!
