Great venue for local artists and makers. Usually demonstrations taking place. Fabulous cakes and drinks available. It's not a pub anymore! Don't rate it low just because it's not been updated on here it is unfair! How do request a change of listing TripAdvisor?

This pub has closed and anything on Tripadvisor before 2022 is not relevant. It's just an arts center now. Big disappointment.

Pub closed and has been all this year. Now will be an Arts cafe which has been on Rugby arts trail. That is all!

Over the years my wife and I have sampled Sunday lunch at most of the pubs in the town and its surroundings and we've found that generally food standards are pretty high and it's been difficult to be sure which was the best. That task has become less difficulr now because the meal served to us at the Alex last Sunday was, in a word, superb, and for the price, almost unbelievably good. To start with, the layout of the place made us feel very Covid-safe and the friendly greeting we received on entering relaxed us from that point of view. Seating is very comfortable and our choice of a Blonde bitter plus a good quality Chardonnay proved to be the right one. We were starving so decided to have all three courses thnking the starters would be small - wrong! Although the choice was limited, the size of the dish wasn't and for the first time ever, I didn't finish mine simply because I thought I was in danger of spoiling my appetite for the main course. And that would have been a terrible mistake as the presentation and quality of the main dish proved to be top notch. The beef was the best I have ever tasted in a pub meal ; it just melted on my tongue. And the vegetables, where so many establishments fail to impress, were all cooked to perfection. I left room for a delicious apple crumble and custard and couldn't have felt better at the end of our visit to find the total cost for three courses and two rounds of drinks was only just a bit more than half of what we were charged elsewhere the week before for a two course meal. We'll certainly be back to see if this level of quality and service can be maintained but in the meantime a couple of tips for anyone thinking of following our lead. We prefer to pour our own gravy and when I contacted Rico afterwards he was happy to confirm we can have ir served as a side in future. And don't bother to try to squeeze your car in on the double yellows outside the front door. The John Barford multi-storey car park next door is open until 7.00 pm and is free on Sundays and it's only a twenty yard walk to the pub.

Just had Sunday lunch for the first time at the Alexandra Arms and the food was excellent. However, the service was not very good as the order had not been processed! We were then asked if we had ordered? Unfortunately, we did wait over an hour and customers who came in after we had sat down, received their food first. I think some some of team leader needs to be in place as staff seemed to be running all over the place and not concentrating who had ordered? Apart from that negative comment we could not fault the food or chef.

Good beer, great food. Never had a bad meal here, staff & clientele always friendly. Straight and gay friendly. Very Covid-19 conscious whitch I like. But can’t wait to get back to normal to socialise probably in there.

Great evening at a Public House full of life and laughs. The locals were kind and pleasant, plus good measures were in place to tackle the Covid. My dinner was tasty and cooked extremely well, great value for homely food. The beer was poured to perfection and went down the hatch in no time. A special mention to Chloe, Great Service and kept the punters smiling:) I’ll be coming back soon, CHEERS

Had an excellent Sunday lunch last weekend. All freshly prepared and very reasonable considering the amount. The pub has a lovely garden and I would thoroughly recommend in these COVID time’s as there was plenty of room to sit comfortably.

My daughter and I had a few hours to wait before our train and chose to go to the alexandra tavern to eat because of the great reviews and veggie option. The staff were warm and friendly and the whole place was attentive to social distancing without loosing the pub vibe. We are vegetarian and the veggie option was delicious, especially the dessert. It was good value for money without scrimping on the quality of the food. When I complimented the manager on the booze he was eager to show me the onsite brewery. Sadly we had to leave for our train if not we would of stayed for the rest of the evening because the beer garden looked magical covered in fairy lights.

Had a very enjoyable lunch of beer battered fish and chips with the most delicious onion rings to start, followed by plum crumble and ice cream served by the charming chef Rico. Best of all my husband who is coeliac was offered a good selection of Gluten free food, well done, would highly recommend. We would visit more often if we lived nearer.

Has a flyer through the door do though would give this place a go given the amazing food reviews. What I should of done was look deeper into the people reviewing and realise it was many first time reviewers, so I would now question the validity of these given my experience. Warm welcome, ok pint and thats is where the positives end. I asked what the soup was, and she asked IN THE KITCHEN and they were going to find out....which I guess means whats in the cupboard or freezer, rather that 'soup of the day.' Came with bread, had to ask for butter and was definitely not spicy tomato. Main meal came, not asked if wanted any sauces. The Eggs with the main were awful, fat, scramlbled, I asked for replacement eggs and they were equally as appalling, I did advice the manager of the poor quality and questionable reviews, he said its was not to their normal standards. The poor quality of food is not just a bad day. This is a beer pub TRYING to make money doing food, and its fails. i was offered a refund, but did not want give impression I was out for a free meal, so refused saying it was a lesson learnt, I merely wanted a good meal. AVOID this place for food

My partner and I had to be at Wolfhampcote church (nearby) for a rehearsal at 1pm last Sunday, so I rang up the Old Olive Bush to ask if they could fit us in for lunch. They wouldn't normally have opened before 12.30, but Linda was determined that we wouldn't be late for our rehearsal, and offered to open up at midday. She also described the steak pie in such alluring terms that we placed an order for it immediately...and it lived up to the billing. Thank you, Linda, for a delicious lunch, and for being so helpful. We hope to come again!

Took my elderly mother here for a pot of tea and a bacon roll and wished I hadn't. The bacon rolls took nearly 20 minutes to arrive and the bacon was absolutely cremated. It was awful. I would've demanded my money back but my mother didn't want to make a fuss. Definitely won't return.
