We had been recommended here so wanted to try. Not disappointed at all Very good quality food Lovely friendly staff We visited on a Saturday night and it was very busy We did have to wait quite a bit for food but as it was so busy we didn’t mind we just chatted at the table. Food came with a smile and an apology for the delay - which was good. Great quality food, and excellent tastes Superb value for money too

The cafe has gone downhill over the past few years: I live locally in the village and it used to be very clean, reasonably priced, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Now, cakes are priced up to £5(!) and two small pieces of dry toast cost £4.50, and tea costs £3.35 (hot water and a teabag!). The food is generally good, but it all costs about 30% more than what it is worth from this location. The Clifford Arms does a lunch just as good (and much less poncy) for a reasonable price, and is perhaps 100yds from the canal. I really regret writing this, as my mum and I used to be very loyal and regular customers of Canalside, but the prices are simply insulting: it has become a money-making scheme (not unlike the Farm Shop where a small bag of standard potatoes can set you back £3 where in Tesco you'd pay pennies). A large amount of the food is not longer even freshly made onsite. The queues are abysmally long at the weekends (the past three times I have visited I have waited in a queue (not to mention the wait on food) for at least 25 minutes - not just because of a heavy footfall, but because of slow staff and not enough staff making drinks/operating the till (but many floating around doing little). The lady on the till (who has served me several times) was snippy and condescending (apparently asking for my meal with no salad due to an allergy was too much!). Some staff are very welcoming and helpful, but not the majority. The cafe is dirty - with food and sachets over the floor, and tables often left unwiped. It smells of frying oil, and even just sitting for 20 minutes in the cafe you leave smelling of food. It is also very difficult to have a civilised conversation due to the noise - the noise cancelling clouds achieve little. I'm sorry to be writing this review. I really hope changes are made, as it used to be a wonderful spot and is obviously a beautiful site.

We have often called in the flag when we have been out on our boat.the atmosphere and dynamics have changed ,all due to the previous management couple leaving.the previous couple (pete & shell ) made this pub the heart of the community the beer was always good the banter on tap and shells yorkshire puddings was a real treat. They made the pub feel cosy, welcoming and traditional with 6 top notch cask ales always on tap .But alas no more...i wonder where they are and hope their new customers enjoy the yorkshire puds as much as we did.. its amazing how its all changed no welcoming atmosphere,no heart or soul in the place,no well kept ales its such a shame that the owners didnt do more to keep the management that really did love this pub. .We will not forget the drag car on the car park or the bouncy castles and rodeo on the charity day they did so much to make this pub the heart of little Haywood,...just in case you still read your reviews...THANK YOU GUYS where ever you are... i wont be visiting again unless by some miracle the proper landlord and landlady return.

I'm assuming that this tearoom is the one we visited yesterday renamed the Mansion House tearoom. Had been looking forward to a tasty lunch only to be terribly disappointed. The swede soup with honey could have been anything, completely tasteless It was perhaps only excelled by the disgustingly soggy, indigestion inducing curried veggie burger. We left the food and won't be back despite having just become members of the National Trust specifically to visit Shugborough on a weekly basis.

Visited local garden centre at Wolseley Bridge many times and eaten in the restaurant, having lunch and afternoon tea, including at Christmas. Will not be returning after experience last Friday. Drove my two neighbours there for the festive lunch and after a reasonable meal, nothing special, went to settle the bill for all of us as I had made the booking and paid the deposit. The girl on one of the two tills was trying to sort out payment from five ladies who also had made a group booking but wanted to pay separately. The system wasn't co-operating and she resorted to calling someone to help. That someone turned out to be the restaurant manager. After she figured out how to accommodate the various payments she turned to leave and I asked whether someone could please take my payment as I was not part of the other group and by this time I had been waiting patiently for about 15 minutes. She simply said they were all busy though by this time it was 2.30 pm and quiet. I asked whether she could do it herself but she said, quite rudely, that she had 'other things to do', turned and walked away. I suggested to her retreating back that perhaps her priority should be customer service but she took no notice. When finally I got to pay it took one minute. That one minute and a 'sorry' is all it would have taken to avoid this review.
