Best fish bar around, lovely batter as good as the best and better than the rest Cod chips mushy peas my favourite

Always good food. Delivered quickly, fish always has nice crispy batter, kebabs are nice and tasty, always arrives hot and ready to eat. Had most things off the menu and can’t fault it.

The fish and chips were so bad I had to take the effort to write this review. The chips were barely cooked and the batter on the fish was so soggy it stuck to the paper. It was the worst fish and chips we’ve ever had. I never complain but this was so bad I felt compelled to warn people!

Really disconcerted to find out of 5 people behind counter only 2 were wearing masks. Clearly little concern to comply with Covid regulations. Won't be visiting again.

We had unexpected visitors at lunch time so telephoned an order for four fish and chips to be ready at short notice. Server went to extra trouble to find exactly what we wanted and on collection the food was ready for us. The portions were generous and food hot, fish crispy and chips perfect. Having read some negative comments I can only conclude that there has been a significant improvement this year. Thankyou to Hixon Fish Bar.

This is the worst fish and chips I have ever had from a fish and chip shop. The fish was cold, watery and soggy and the chips bland and cold. We spend £37.90 on this revoulting platter, the majority of which was thrown away. The only passable item was the mushy peas which were probably tinned anyway. Really disgusting now - was a reasonable place many years ago.

Always cold, chips never fresh, battered sausage gone way over its hold time. Very disappointed with this chip shop. I will travel further for a decent chip shop.

Fish excellent and chips always good,mushy pea's not to my liking, chicken salad an chips good although i would prefer lettuce rather than cabbage, otherwise great. We generally have one of these and share between us and end up throwing away some of the chips as there are far to many for us.

If you haven't been to this chip shop and you live close enough to give it a try, then do so. I have to say that the fish (the Cod that is) looks like a huge fishmonger.......huge I say,...... but, the prices are scary. Having said that........there are somethings in life that you just HAVE to do..........and folks, this pit stop is one of them. Enjoy.

Very good quality and the quantities are very generous. It is very popular and the food is freshly prepared. Very clean although the only downside is that they do not provide any gluten free options which is a shame as many fish bars are catering for varied dietary needs. Overall highly recommended

A few miles up the road from us, always fresh and good portions. Sometimes a little tight parking right outside, but plenty of space on the road

I used to pop in here after visiting relatives that live nearby. The food is fine, but they have priced themselves out of the market. An equivalent meal in Rugeley or Stafford costs at least half as much. I understand there is not a lot of competition in the area, but they are losing an awful lot of customers due to the high prices. These days if I want to grab a meal on the way home, I pop into the Chinese take-away next door.

Lovely fish and children enjoyed tasty chicken strips. Staff helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again when we are in the vicinity.

A fantastic local chippy that always seems busy. Weekly visitors here & never disappointed. Great value for money, good portions & great food. The specials are a bargain buy & the kids love them! Great work!

A fish and chip shop of average quality. If I lived in Nixon i would use it if needed. Wouldn't make specific journey to go there

Un cliente habitual aquí, ya que se muda a la aldea en 16 sept. Gran variedad de comida con pescado y patatas fritas fantástico. Nunca tuvimos una mala comida y bien de precio. Tartas, kebabs, salchichas y más, con mucha variedad y todo bien. El personal siempre es amable también. Lo recomiendo.

Compré un gran bacalao y desde fuera parecía bien. En cortaba a través de la pasta muy espesa bastante pesado, el pescado estaba marrón! Era tan seco que incluso mi perro amordazado cuando di a ella.

Tried this chippy twice now and both times I've been disappointed.The chips are soggy,not crispy they stuck to the paper wrapper and were bland.They don't sell puddings either.Not impressed.

Uno de los mejores en el país, no me gusta luego blanda y prefiere lechuga guisantes en vez de col con mi carne de pollo.

While staying at the Green Man Campsite we ventured into the village and got Cod and chips from here, They were quite simply the best fish and chips we have had for ages, not greasy, crispy batter and perfectly cooked chips and proper mushy peas. Highly reccommended.

Not always great food although the service is always super friendlyOnly chippy in the area without going into Rugeley so could pay more attention to quality

Great Haywood WI always order their February 'Fish and Chip' supper from Hixon. We ring in the order at 7.30pm on the night and collect at 8.15pm. Delicious small portions in poly boxes at a very reasonable price. Thank you to all the Staff who provide a very valuable local service to the villages.

Went to hixon chippy on Saturday as just fancied chip butties at home and they were just about to close at 9.30pm we didn't know this but WOW, massive portion of chips a curry sauce and a free large gravy all for £2.30 fantastic service and food will defiantly go back totally recommend x

Always gorgeous traditional fish and chips, plus chicken and donner kebabs.Mini meals are available too, to suit smaller appetites. This is a very popular fish and chip shop, that is also adjacent to a high quality Chinese takeaway so with one visit you can get a combination of meals to suit most tastes.

Always consistently good, best fish and chips for miles and the chicken chips and salad are great just wish the salad was lettuce and not cabbage the only other downside i find is the mushy pea's, they look like they come from a nuclear power station with no taste, for me tidy these two points up and it would be unbeatable.

Just had a large Cod & Chips, excellent fish!Firm white flakes of cod, in crispy batter served with light and fluffy chips, crispy on the outside.Great value for money too!

The chip shop has a very good varied selection of take away food on offer, It is fairly priced and good quality, If you are in the area and need a good take away meal then this is worth a visit

We don't very often partake in chip shop, but we had a minor incident which didn't leave much time to cook, didn't fancy "takeaway" so popped in here. Fish was lovely and fresh and the chips were a lovely golden colour just as you would expect. Very nice and pleasantly surprised.

always good food and a wide selection, great service, only a short drive from our village but I think a delivery service would be welcomed with open arms for the nearby villages.

Best fish chip shop out if you in the area give it a visit the staff are so lovely so give it a go you will not be disopointed with the service and quality of the food

If you think youv'e had a good kebab and you haven't been here then you have NOT had the best kebab ever.The salad is always fresh and the choice of accompanyments is outstanding.The staff are always friendly and as we go here regularly they almost always know what we want before we get through the door.It's a little out of the way in a lovely village, but well worth the ride out.

This chip shop made it to the shortlist for the Midlands chips shop of the year last year, I've been coming here for years.Staff who are are all chatty and friendly, along with great food. It's usually fish or mixed kebab for me but our extended family have tried most things over the years and we have yet to be let down.Prices are good for what you get too.

The best fish and chips in Staffordshire plus the extensive menu of extras all absolutely great, nothing to dislike at all.

Very generous portion of chips but like every fish & chip shop in the Midlands, the fish is not fresh and is over cooked and dry. Batter is chewy and thick and batter should be light and crispy. Disappointing. Staff are not that friendly either.
